National disasters bring out the worst in CNN. CNN should bring Robert Novak back from hiatus and put "American Morning" co-anchor and "nitpicker" Miles O'Brien on hiatus instead.
Gov. Haley Barbour, Republican of Mississippi, was targeted again. First Robert F. Kennedy Jr. blamed him for Hurricane Katrina and global warming. Then Miles O'Brien attacked Governor Barbour for NOT blaming the Bush Administration for the devastation from Hurricane Katrina.
O'Brien's baseless, biased charge: the "federal government" "dropped the ball" on disaster preparation efforts, especially the Defense Department. His evidence: "We knew it was a strong storm developing for several days before it ever made landfall."
I am dumbfounded.
