Former Secretary of State Colin Powell''s chief of staff says President Bush was "too aloof, too distant from the details" of post-war planning, allowing underlings to exploit Bush's detachment and make bad decisions.
Okay here is where I always get confused. Is the problem with the war planning because President Bush was not involved enough, or because he was too involved? I mean what did this occasional National Guard member know about waging a war? Obviously not very damn much!
Wilkerson blamed Vice President Dick Cheney , Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and like-minded aides. Wilkerson said that Cheney must have sincerely believed that Iraq could be a spawning ground for new terror assaults, because "otherwise I have to declare him a moron, an idiot or a nefarious bastard."
What were the choices again? Moron, idiot, or nefarious bastard. Oooh oooh I choose Nefarious Bastard!
Cheney's office, Rumsfeld aides and others argued "that the president of the United States is all-powerful, that as commander in chief the president of the United States can do anything he damn well pleases," Wilkerson said.
Okay now read that portion again. Is that not one of the scariest things you have ever read? It is beginning to look like rather then believe in a god, George Bush thinks that he is one.
Holy Fuck!
