U.S. admits it kept Red Cross from having access to detainees. I am confused is this policy reaching hearts or minds?

The state department's top legal adviser, John Bellinger, made the admission but gave no details about where such prisoners were held.

Correspondents say the revelation is likely to increase suspicion that the CIA has been operating secret prisons outside international oversight.

Just another reason to be proud to be an American. Are we trying to piss off every other nation on this planet? I am just asking.

I suppose it's hard to grant access to prisons that don't exist.

"I do not now, nor have I ever, had knowledge of any such operation. Nor would I be at liberty to disclose..."
