On most of the 365 days he has enjoyed at his secluded ranch here, President Bush's idea of paradise is to hop in his white Ford pickup truck in jeans and work boots, drive to a stand of cedars, and whack the trees to the ground.
How come on a ranch of this size that the only thing this guy can find to do is cut down brush? And why does he not delegate it to his many hired hands? It makes one wonder.
"Most likely he's doing that to show the media he's got a chain saw," joked Larry Mattladge, who raises Black Angus cows three-quarters of a mile from the Bush ranch and built his fence rows out of cedar posts. "It's a man's thing. Brush clearing is not only for the young at heart, it's for the young. It's to show he's a Texan."
Presidential historian Robert Dallek said: "This is part of his macho image. Obviously this is nothing Bush has to do. He's the son of a rich man who doesn't have to spend his time cutting underbrush."
These are good theories but I would like to proffer an alternate possibility. Could it be a physical manifestation of George Bushes self loathing? Perhaps this is how he works out his frustration at his own ineptitude? Maybe the bushes represent the Bush?
Can't you just see him out there with his axe, cleaving through the underbrush while sobbing about fixing the intelligence, and sending too few troops, and eavesdropping on his fellow Americans.
"Oh you damned Bush! You traitorous vines! You shrubs are living in a bubble!" He says with tear stained cheeks. "You should be impeached for growing under foot! You and your advisors, the roots, the twigs, and the briar patches! You must all go!"
Then when his vessel of frustraton is empty he goes back to work and just continues to screw up the country. Oh yeah! He's crazy!
If you don't buy this, well then you are just jealous that you did not think of it first!
You're kind of mean for no reason aren't you? Have you ever been to Texas? Sheesh, you could come to my small yard and see that I could spend all my vacations cutting down brush. Having money does not equal enjoying just sitting on your butt and watching other people do labor.
ReplyDeleteBush cuts bush because it gives him some satisfaction, a job done. That is lacking in his day job - the one we pay him to do.
ReplyDeleteIf he had the intelligence to run this country, he would tackle real problems not scrub brush
"mean for no reason?"Terri- you are kidding right? why because you point out what it doesn't make sense....the "leader" out being" manly" and there are plenty of things that are a part of his job he should be focused on....and I don't want to hear no whining about houw tough life is in Texas- give me a break ....Life is REAL hard everywhere right now....So Terri don't whine or defend Bush- save your breath for people that matter- ie. 1000's of NOLA refugees...and here's a thought he has had 365 days of vacation in five years, how many Americans have even had two weeks a year....yeah, it don't add up....
ReplyDeleteAs far as I am concerned he should just QUIT his other job and clear brush- that would be a much better contribution to this country...
"no reason" being, you're picking on the man for cutting brush for gosh sakes. You clearly have better reasons - so why the brush? Cutting it down and clearing it out is satisfying and it does help clear the head. That would be where I get to say "sheesh" again.
ReplyDeleteC'mon! Who did not see that this post was totally tongue in cheek?
ReplyDeleteWe all know that the moron cuts down brush for the same reason that skinny teenage boys wear muscle shirts, to try to appear manly! His identity demands that he appear as a tough Texan to his fawning audience.
But I also blame the media for covering this garbage! Do a Google search on "Bush clearing brush". There are tons of pictures! Who cares? Why do I need to know that he cuts down trees? I already know that he has had a huge negative impact on our environment, I don't need pictures!
You have to admit the psychological take on the subject was kind of funny. Oh well, it cracked me up!
Some facts to get in the way of a good story.
ReplyDelete-- Central Texas cedars put out a nasty pollen in December - January that wreaks havoc on lots and lots of people.
-- Cedars are a weed/pest in Texas.
-- Cedar (and mesquite, the other weed) concentrate on springing up where they aren’t wanted and are annoyingly persistent.
It could be argued (but obviously not here) that Bush is chopping down these pest timbers to support biodiversity.

ReplyDeleteOH NOES! Gryphen's tongue is in his cheek! Quickly, someone fetch a spoon and fish it out before he bites it off in another fit of thrashing moronism.
