Bad things always happen in threes.

Strategists at the Pentagon are drawing up plans for devastating bombing raids backed by submarine-launched ballistic missile attacks against Iran's nuclear sites as a "last resort" to block Teheran's efforts to develop an atomic bomb.

Now where have I heard the term "last resort" before? Oh yeah I remember.

They are reporting to the office of Donald Rumsfeld, the defence secretary, as America updates plans for action if the diplomatic offensive fails to thwart the Islamic republic's nuclear bomb ambitions. Teheran claims that it is developing only a civilian energy programme.

"This is more than just the standard military contingency assessment," said a senior Pentagon adviser. "This has taken on much greater urgency in recent months."

Well if Rumsfeld is in charge then you can rest assured that he is ignoring any evidence that Iran is complying with the U.N. instructions and focusing on every bit of evidence which supports our administration's desire to make more money for our weapons contractors.

Will they even seek an okay from Congress this time? Or do they just feel completely empowered to do whatever the hell they want without any support from either our Congress or the United Nations? I know where I would lay my bet.

You know if I were a general in this country's military I might just refuse to follow the orders of a man who clearly does not understand military strategy or care about he lives of his fellow Americans. Which just goes to show why I never enlisted.
