Democrats blow chance to have candidate with integrity run for Senator of Ohio.

National Democratic leaders squashed Paul Hackett’s Senate campaign by telling top fundraisers to stop sending him money, the Iraq War veteran said today.

Hackett accused Sen. Charles Schumer, chairman of the Democratic Senate campaign committee, of turning from ally to enemy.

“My donor base and host base on both coasts was contacted by elected officials and asked to stop giving,” Hackett said. “The original promise to me from Schumer was that I would have no financial concerns. It went from that to Senator Schumer actually working against my ability to raise money.”

Why? Why would the Democrats not support a candidate who has served in Iraq and has tons of credibility in providing an anti-war voice in the Senate? Hackett was over there? You cannot argue with a man who has seen what is really going on in Iraq and found it at fault.

Hackett had everything that Democrats should be looking for, a fresh face, a military background, a desire to take on the hard issues, and most important of all, integrity which this government is in desperate need of these days.

If Democrats keep shooting themselves in the foot they will end up gaining no seats from the Republicans and will have to sit back and allow this administratin to run roughshod over our civil rights for another two years at a minimum.
