An overwhelming majority of the public believe fighting between Sunni and Shiite Muslims in Iraq will lead to civil war and half say the U.S. should begin withdrawing its forces from that violence-torn country, according to the latest Washington Post-ABC News poll.
The survey found that 80 percent believed that recent sectarian violence made civil war in Iraq likely, and more than a third said such a conflict was "very likely" to occur. Expectations for an all-out sectarian war in Iraq extended beyond party lines. More than seven in 10 Republicans and eight in 10 Democrats and political independents believe civil war was likely.
I find it almost incomprehensible that only 52% of Americans think that the troops should come home now. What are the other 48% waiting for? How many more of our troops have to be killed or crippled before we pull our soldiers out of there?
I guess I am not in the 52% that think Iraq is headed toward civil war. Because I think that Iraq is already having a civil war! Maybe that is what the other 20% in the above poll believe as well.
If any of you think that this is going to get any better then I certainly have some pristine real estate in New Orleans I would like to sell you. It is a little soggy but there is plenty of raw material laying around for you to build your dream house with.
