Down in public opinion polls, President George W. Bush said on Friday he realizes he has made some unpopular decisions but that it "comes with the territory" and he will stand by his beliefs.
"I know some would like me to change, but you can't be a good decision-maker if you're trying to please people. You've got to stand on what you believe, that's what you've got to do, if you're going to make decisions that are solid and sound," he said.
The key to understanding George Bush, and I am afraid I am starting to do just that, is to realize that he does not answer to us. George Bush answers to a higher power. He truly believes that he has God's ear and that he is receiving devine instruction from the almighty.
So low poll numbers will not persuade Bush to change one single thing that he is doing now or will begin to do in the future. This is what makes Bush so dangerous. He cannot learn from mistakes because until God tells him he has made one he just continues to feel he is doing the Lord's will. Now go up and read that statement of Bush's again. Do you see it now?
The only hope that this country has is for the Congress to stop Bush from continuing to dictate American policies in response to the voices in his head. They stopped the Dubai Port deal so maybe they are beginning to understand their responsibility finally. We can only hope it is not too late.
Isn't it odd how politicians and cable news people never talk about what they think any more? They simply preach what they believe. No facts are necessary, in fact they get in the way of ones beliefs.
