It has been almost a month but finally Pat Robertson comes through with another ignorant statement!

Television evangelist Pat Robertson said Monday on his live news-and- talk program "The 700 Club" that Islam is not a religion of peace, and that radical Muslims are "satanic."

Robertson's comments came after he watched a news story on his Christian Broadcasting Network about Muslim protests in Europe over the cartoon drawings of the Prophet Muhammad.

He remarked that the outpouring of rage elicited by cartoons "just shows the kind of people we're dealing with. These people are crazed fanatics, and I want to say it now: I believe it's motivated by demonic power. It is satanic and it's time we recognize what we're dealing with."

Robertson also said that "the goal of Islam, ladies and gentlemen, whether you like it or not, is world domination."

You know I had almost given up hope that Pat was going to come through this week. You know some of us really look forward to hearing from crazed evangelical nutballs. It's kind of rude to make us wait like that!

Now let's pick it apart. Where to start....where to start...hmmm.....too many choices! Let's just start with the Satan comment. You know if you are going to point out how out of control a religious group appears, it might not be a bad idea to try and get a handle on your own sanity first. Calling somebody who hates your religion Satan, just demonstrates your own lack of tolerance! I agree that these people are out to lunch, but I would also use that same description for the Christian fundamentalists who picket in front of Women's health clinics.

The idea that any of these religious beliefs are any more coherent then any of the other religious beliefs is just crazy. You both believe in the same God for God's sake! You literally have more in common with each other then you do with Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, or the Jains. So why the hate? To call each other Satan, which you are clearly saying to be hurtful, is just ridiculous!

So here is my solution. Let's send Pat to Iraq! He can go as a good will ambassador. He will not need bodyguards or body armor because surely God will protect him in this humanitarian endeavor. When Pat gets there he needs to go and find some of these Muslim clerics and offer them a big old American hug! I am confident that Pat Robertson is the key to ending all of this suffering in Iraq. You know how I know? Because God told me that's how. And if you don't believe me then you are Satan! Boy that just rolls off the old tongue doesn't it?
