Rumsfeld demonstrates why he has no concept of world affairs. I slept through most of that class and I still have a firmer grasp then this tool.

Rumsfeld linked the costly and unpopular US efforts to stabilize Iraq and Afghanistan to US concerns about Iran's nuclear program and its regional might, in an interview with the
Pentagon's in-house television channel.

He said those who believe that US efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan are too costly or are taking too long need to understand that "success in Afghanistan and success in Iraq is critical to containing the extreme impulses that we see emanating from Iran."

This just shows how completely out to lunch Rumsfeld and the rest of this administration have become when it concerns dealing with other nations.

The idea that by staying in Afghanistan and Iraq we are exerting some control over what happens in Iran is rediculous. I think what Rumsfeld fears is that Iraq and Afghanistan will join Iran in standing up to America and in that respect he is correct.

So what is the plan? Do we just stay in Iraq until Iran stops hating us? How many centuries will that take? The facts are we are going to have no control over what happens in Iraq when we leave. They may very well join forces with Iran, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and probably several more countries in forming a new alliance that is resistant to our influence. I mean who could blame them?

Our only hope for the future is to get our troops out, provide humanitarian support as Iraq fights it out amongst themselves for their next dictator, throw Bush out of office, and tell the Middle East we apologize for meddling and that it was all the fault of a madman. We make Bush the scapegoat and we move on like we have a brain this time.

We can do this. We just can't do this with Bush in office.
