Arlen Specter to challenge Bush's abuse of powers. Okay somebody check, is Specter still a Republican?

The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, accusing the White House of a ''very blatant encroachment" on congressional authority, said yesterday he will hold an oversight hearing into President Bush's assertion that he has the power to bypass more than 750 laws enacted over the past five years.

''There is some need for some oversight by Congress to assert its authority here," Arlen Specter, Republican of Pennsylvania, said in an interview. ''What's the point of having a statute if . . . the president can cherry-pick what he likes and what he doesn't like?"

Specter said he plans to hold the hearing in June. He said he intends to call administration officials to explain and defend the president's claims of authority, as well to invite constitutional scholars to testify on whether Bush has overstepped the boundaries of his power.

Arlen is rapidly becoming my favorite Democrat. I think that the other Republicans should tear their lips off of Bush's ass and join Senator Specter in holding this moron accountable for his criminal behavior. I fear that if they don't their chances of getting re-elected will be reduced greatly. Wouldn't that be a shame!

Of course this could just be a ton of bullshit designed to make us believe that these guys are going to look into this when in reality they are just yanking us. Do you see how cynical I have become?

How old is that picture of Specter?

I, also, am very cynical of these guys. How can you put your trust into something you have no trust in?

  2. I am working through the pain.

I think that is his college graduation picture. Most of his pictures show him all ravaged by cancer. Kinda icky!
