Edwards fires his liberal bloggers. Say it aint so, Shakespeare's Sister!

The right-wing blogosphere has gotten its scalps -- John Edwards has fired the two controversial bloggers he recently hired to do liberal blogger outreach, Salon has learned.

The bloggers, Amanda Marcotte, formerly of Pandagon, and Melissa McEwan, of Shakespeare's Sister, had come under fire from right-wing bloggers for statements they had previously made on their respective blogs. A statement by the Catholic League's Bill Donohue, which called Marcotte and McEwan "anti-Catholic vulgar trash-talking bigots," and an accompanying article on the controversy in the New York Times this morning, put extra pressure on the campaign.

Well this is a load of crap!

Anybody who hires a blogger and has not taken the time to read what they have been blogging about for is a fool. I am not familiar with Pandagon, but I read Shakespeare's Sister everyday.

Sis is irreverent and often crude, but always spot on in her assessments and unapologetically blunt in her wording to describe hypocrisy or outright criminal behaviors from our illustrious leaders. Sometimes this might mean that Sis takes on organized religion or some "stick up their ass" politician who dares accuse others of bad behavior while living in his own house of glass.

As far as I am aware Sis does not hate Catholics or Republicans, but she does not suffer fools lightly. And she is not alone.

I think the Edward's campaign could not have made a better choice in hiring Melissa McEwan from Shakespeare's Sister and I hope that he comes to his senses and stops jumping through the Republican hoops and hires her back as soon as possible.

Letting the Republican smear machine dictate who he hires does not strengthen my support of John Edwards in the least.
