A man who was fired by IBM for visiting an adult chat room at work is suing the company for $5 million, claiming he is an Internet addict who deserves treatment and sympathy rather than dismissal.
James Pacenza, 58, of Montgomery, says he visits chat rooms to treat traumatic stress incurred in 1969 when he saw his best friend killed during an Army patrol in Vietnam.
In papers filed in federal court in White Plains, Pacenza said the stress caused him to become "a sex addict, and with the development of the Internet, an Internet addict." He claimed protection under the American with Disabilities Act.
You know I had a rough childhood and suffer from PTSD. And by God that is why I look at pictures of naked women. Or maybe it is just because I am a guy.
But come on! Even if you have a strong desire to watch porn are you telling me you cannot wait nine or ten hours until you are off work, back in front of your own personal computer, with your pants around your ankles before you indulge yourself? I mean I like scratching my balls but I resist the urge to do it in front of my female co-workers. And I am sure they appreciate my restraint.
