Is the media trying to destroy the John Edwards campaign? And why?

In the link you can see that the negative coverage seems to come from a variety of different sources, FOX News (No surprise there), CNN, NPR, The Washington Post, MSNBC, and many others.

So let me put my tinfoil hat on again and offer another left field dwelling, yet usually prescient, theory.

Edwards is being targeted because the MSM believes he is the only real challenge to Hillary's nomination. I don't think that even FOX News is targeting Edwards because he may defeat the Republican candidate, because most of the media realize that there is no way that a Republican can take office this election cycle. So instead they are pushing to get the next best thing, Hillary. And Edwards is the only candidate that they fear might screw that up. So the Republicans are pushing the media they control to trash John Edwards, and other media outlets are following the stories being fed to them and piling as well. The adminstration has learned how to lead the MSM sheep anywhere they want them to go.

Like I wrote before I think that Hillary has agreed to keep Bush from being put on trial. Therefore she is the safest candidate for the Republican machine to clandestinely support. This is why I will never support Hillary's campaign. I think that she has made a deal with the devil and guaranteed that we will never see justice come to these Republican criminals.

But what about Obama? I think that a lot of people believe that Obama cannot be elected in a general election, and therefore he will not win the nomination. Why? Simply due to the fact that he is black. There are huge sections of the electorate that simply will not vote for a black man. If he were white he would be crushing Hillary and soon join Edwards in the media's crosshairs.

Which then makes me wonder who Hillary would choose for her running mate. It would seem that Obama would be the natural choice, but I doubt that is who she will choose. And she will not be able to choose Edwards because she does not want him, and he would not allow himself to be the second banana again.

I hate to say that things are being taken out of our hands again, but I think that we may not get the opportunity to get the best candidate nominated again this year. I am becoming convinced that we are going to be stuck with Hillary. And the only way that will be changed is if this secret deal, which I am convinced is in the works, were to be revealed. That would derail the Clinton campaign overnight. It would be her "Macaca" moment.

And then we could have a fair contest, finally!

P.S. By the way I just assumed that eveybody who might read this knows that MSM stands for "MainStream Media".

  1. Hmmm, I need to reread this and think about it....but I think you are on to something here....let me go finish what the cat just did downstairs and walk the dog , but yes, this needs serious thought....

  2. Okay....You have given this alot of thought....and the funny thing is- most blogs have been pretty quiet about Hillary....there is I think tacit acceptance that there will be and is Trouble afloat with her nomination.....and to be honest I know the MSM ( MainShitMedia) have spoonfed us for monthes that some insane percentage is for her, I am not so sure of these numbers , or that they are "created" ....and here is why ,

    (1) watch cspan- and you are in for a surprise- the morning am show- now get past the redneck idiots that call in- there always is the obligatory 3 that call in...from the South (sorry but it is true) , and then you will hear VERY FRUSTATED FED UP AMERICANS calling in and the interesting part is that they are Dems and Repukes. And MOST WANT CHANGE, AND HILLARY IS NOT VIEWED AS CHANGE.. she is viewed as MORE of the Same...
most say they WANT new leadership , and the most talked about candiates are Ron Paul and Obama.....

    (2) The other person to keep an eye on is Edwards-he is leading in Iowa...

(3)I think that the Media is in for a real problem this year- and it started with 2006- the Internet and Youtube and yes, Bloggers ROCKED the frigging vote....( in Fall, I had 300-over 400K hits each month- this shows the Wires were On Fire with people working the Campaigns....right now things are relatively quiet....but the Noise is going to happen....because there is this tension, this rage....this quiet seething anger....that is ready to pop...).

    (4) Also Hillary is finally speaking about the war- but for alot of folks- esp war families- it is TOoo little toooo late...

    (5) even talk radio here in the heartland is bashing the media and Roveco.and also Bush and the repukes- and that is a Change- ( my next door neighbor keeps me informed of these goings on , because I won't listen to that...)He used to be a repug- but not because of anything other than the money part- but now he has changed his mind- totally.....( I have met quite a few here that have changed and now curse the repugs...)

    (6) and yes, I am hoping for alot of Macaca moments- and they will happen, believe me...
but they will be for both sides, the real problem is that the Media has lost all credibility, and they don't know it- they are kind of delusional like Bush, Chris Matthews ( Tweety) out humping whatever he wants- and talking about Edwards hair and Hillary's suits- geesus tapdancing in a thong- do they REALLY think ANY OF US care about that stuff- don't they know we have bigger worries- $$$$ Economy ???? IRAQ????? healthcare and jobs ???? the Media better wake up and realize they too have lost the People- we ain' t watching...if not for Keith and John Stewart I would have Elvised my TV a Long time ago.....

So About MSM, I think the NExt Election is all going to come down to the Interent- and Bloggers and YOuTube...and we need to write and write and write the TRUTH....and also write the Dems...

Interesting point , I have been already Dropped FROM ALL Dem rousters because I have only given a couple of dollars- well, that is not going to win my support or footstomping support- and I was a little pissed- I guess we are indeed a land of haves and have nots. Well, I Have not Abandoned my Country....and I certainly don't beleive that people that don't throw money in the hat should be sidelined.....( hmm , might have to blog on that point).....

    Anyways....I have rambled enough here.....
I think you are right to be worried and concerned and to raise people's thinking....

  3. Thanks Enigma, as always your perspective is helpful and I enjoy hearing the frustration in your voice as it makes me feel less alone with my frustrations.

I hope that you are right and the MSM will not have as much influence this time around. I think they lost the right to influence us anymore with their slanted coverage of the last Presidential election, and the lack of courage on the run up to the Iraq war, among other equally good reasons.

I am determined to get my voice heard this time. I may not have the most popular blog in the world, but I do have something to say and I think it is worth hearing. And I feel the same about your thoughtful posts over at Watergate Summer.

So perhaps if we all stick together we will finally help get the truth out to the people who need to hear it.

I am pretty sure about this Hillary story, but if I am incorrect you know I will say so and apologize to everyone that I misled. But having said that I also have a pretty good track record for noticing things ahead of the curve.

Hi Gryphen, I saw your comment at Enigma's & thought I should read what an Alaskan man is saying.

The deal you mention between Hillary & Bush makes sense to me, but only time will tell whether she has or hasn't. I kind of like the idea of Bush & Cheney pleading for clemency from whoever is next in line. Don't forget the've all been buying up lots of land down in Paraguay, for that worst-case scenario war-criminal and/or impeachment trial. It also happens to sit on top of the world's largest source of underground fresh water (the aquifero guanari) -- the next oil.

I also agree that Edwards gets a lot of crappy media attn, much more so than some others who dearly deserve it. To me, that confirms that old political saw about when two favorites (Hillary & Obama) command about equal support & each of their supporters refuse to accede/throw their support to the other, a way is definitely open for the 3rd man (Edwards) to take all.

Enigma has many good points about bloggers & youtube & cspan & other sources of truth that people are listening to & making up their own minds about what is important for the direction of our country. I live in a very red state & confront the non-listeners daily (the zombie-brain koolaiders).

I really hate to have to say this (because I don't much care for her & think she is an alienator who could not easily win the general election), but if Hillary gets the dem nom, I WILL support her. Have to. ~~ D.K.

  5. About your theory- I thought about it alllll day, walking the dog, taking out the trash- even talked to some neighbors about it...and I thought wow....what if he is right? ...and it is possible....the bigger issue- though- she should know better- I mean she worked on the Nixon Investigation and hearings many years ago....

And yes, dear Gryphen- you have been way ahead of the curve a bunch of times...and we need to thank you for that....( I need to do another blog round up and get people over here- suz this a paradise of a blog- and I don't tell you enough).....

Now about Hillary- turht be told I am like Dk- I am commited to getting DC back in the hands of some thinking breathing real people....now I don't like Hillary- but I think she will end up having to choose either Edwards or Obama as her running mate like it or not- cause I think Dean realizes how incredible both of these are.....and also Edwards has Elizabeth- and she is well loved- also Edwards has the Southern Vote- and also NOLA, and many poor, many college age....he has a huge base...and so does Obama- the truth is that Obama and Edwards combined have a much bigger base than Hillary- and would make an awesome combo.....I put a sign in my yard this weekend- the first in the neighborhood.....( I am sure they think I am nuts...I don't care....)

  6. Oh I will support the Democratic candidate have no fear. Even if it is Hillary, who I simply don't like or trust.

I am sorry if my pondering cost you too much distress. Trust me when I say that thinking of this has bothered me for several months.

And you are so right that an Obama/Edwards ticket or Edwards/Obama ticket would be fucking awesome!

If only we could get so lucky. If they were our candidates the Republicans would just start crying themselves to sleep everynight

Yes, Edwards/Obama or visa-versa, perfect! I've been playing around with an idea for awhile, but know it would never happen. Well, here it is: as a counter to the hillary machine, edwards & obama team up, campaign together as unit, speaking together about the issues, both names appearing in random order on all their ads. They reinforce each other, knock out hillary without going negative & snag the majority of delegates in primaries. The gimmick: They make it clear up front, they are running as a team & if nominated, they will throw it open to the convention to vote on which is the prez, which is veep nominee. Am I nutz? I felt empowered just thinking about it, how the delegates (& hopefully most americans) would eat it up. ~~ D.K.

  8. Are you nuts? Yes you are nuts. But by God that is just crazy enough to work!

I mean Hillary is already going this route by using Bill in her campaign. Isn't that a two for one deal as well?

Think about it. If Edwards and Obama bonded together they would essentially become attack proof.

Whatever weakness one might be perceived as having would be compensated for by the strength of the other. And together they would be fucking bulletproof!

    Damn D.K. I like it!

  9. I still don't like any of them.

Just know who is financing the candidate of your choice.

I'll probably vote Kucinich. I don't give a damn if I'm "throwing my vote away". I'll be able to sleep at night.
