I am not going to pick through the each of questions and responses as there are a ton of pundits waiting to weigh in on who won what, and whose body language showed nervousness, and who gaffed, and who shone, and who acted Presidential. My voice in that area is not needed.
The only point that I want to weigh in on is that I think having this debate using the online community of YouTube is a clear indication of how politics is changing in this country. It is allowing access to the mighty of our country from the most average of us. Individually we have rarely been heard, but now that is changing.
I think it bodes well for those of us who feel compelled to blog about politics, and current events in this country and around the world. Even if only a handful of people hear us, that is a handful of people who may start to question what they have been told is the truth by their government, the MSM, their church, and even their parents.
After all what is it that makes us the dominant lifeform on this planet? It is certainly not the fact that we blindly follow the herd. We are dreamers, and creators, and communicators. And it is time that we create a dream worth communicating to our leaders.
I discovered something interesting in watching the news coverage of the debate. Free Speech TV, a part of Democracy Now!, ran clips of Kucinich and Gravel. ABC News ran clips of Edwards and Biden. They also mentioned Clinton and Obama.
ReplyDeleteInteresting how the focus is so different between the mainstream media and independent media.
Interesting...I LOVE the last paragraph....and I wrote a review of HOW CNN did- over on Sirens, not watergate.....
ReplyDeleteI am glad that New forms of forums and debates are atleast happening....now if we can just change HOW we (okay I mean THEM- the Media) communicate- the language- rhetoric.....sigh..
