Half of all women would lie to their husbands or partners to keep their relationship going if they became pregnant by another man, a survey said today.
Figures showed one woman in two would not tell her man that the baby she was carrying was not his - if she wanted to stay with him.
They also said four out of ten (42%) would lie about contraception in order to get pregnant, in spite of the wishes of their partner.
The new survey of women's attitudes to truth, relationships, and behaviour, said the overwhelming majority (96%) admit to lying.
Okay perhaps I should clarify.
When I wrote in my headline that I know this "first hand" I did not mean to insinuate that a woman had lied to me about my fathering her child (That did happen to both my brother and a friend of mine however). What I meant is that I know that women lie. Oh God do I!
Of course I also know that men lie. Essentially I guess I should just have written that "people lie". That would have been more accurate.
I just hope the next lucky girl that I convince to let me use and degrade will be an honest person who will tell me if I am not her first, that evening. Or if by some odd miracle I fail to drive her to the gates of Nirvana she will tell me and give me the opportunity to make it right. (Just how many orgasms do women need anyhow?)
Actually in this environment I am at my most honest. I try to only provide information that I am pretty sure of and if I am proved incorrect I go out of my way to admit my mistake.
ReplyDeleteAnd in the real world I am still pretty honest, though I am a terrible smart ass and people sometimes have trouble telling whether I am being serious or not.
But I have to admit that I am impressed that Skippy from Skippy the Bush Kangaroo has left a comment over here in the cheap seats.
I just think that is pretty cool.
Thanks for your input Skip.
oh boy, hope this doesn't further your paranoia about being lied to, but you should know that genetic counselors (who quite frequently encounter cases where the father of record cannot be the biological father) have a rule of thumb. For the US population as a whole, the number of "nonpaternity events" is assumed to be 10%. A British geneticist (Bryan Sykes, Oxford U) goes further to state the nonpaternity rates of contemporary populations worldwide ranges from 1.4% to 30%.
ReplyDeleteBut I take your point about lying. It is a relationship-killer. If a partner does not appreciate your honesty, or doesnot/cannot reciprocate, you are looking at a superficial fling at best. Now, your last question is unanswerable as I'm sure you're aware that infinity cannot be quantified. Shouldn't stop a guy from trying, though! ~~ D.K.
okay this is really weird...I left a comment? and it's not here...that is really strange...okay so this is a test...we'll see what happens...
ReplyDelete( it was a nice comment too..damn..)
It was probably Karl Rove. He hates me and everything I stand for.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could have read the post I just know it would have brightened my day.
Damn you Karl Rove!
