A surgeon general's report in 2006 that called on Americans to help tackle global health problems has been kept from the public by a Bush political appointee without any background or expertise in medicine or public health, chiefly because the report did not promote the administration's policy accomplishments, according to current and former public health officials.
This is the point that I ,and many others, have cited as the worst indictment against the Republicans, in general, and the Bush administration in particular. They just don't care.
They have money, and a comfortable life, in general and therefore cannot relate to those that do not have that level of comfort. And for those who are not so well off, and still vote Republican, they seem to believe that they will someday be wealthy and do not want anybody to tell them what to do with that money.
But there is no connection to the needs of their fellow human beings. It is all about how things effect them individually. It is the party of selfishness and disconnection.
And what really grinds me like no other issue is how they have taken ownership of the Christian religion! If you read the actual words of Jesus Christ, he is a liberals liberal. He is for helping your fellow man at all cost. He is, after all, the man who sacrificed is own life to save the souls of all future generations. Does that, even remotely, sound like a Republican?
So tell me, why do Christians vote for these guys?
