But according to the Sydney Morning Herald of Australia, the president gave a more-to-the-point assessment to Australia Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile.
"We're kicking ass," Bush said to Vaile Tuesday, according the Herald, after the deputy prime minister inquired about his trip to Iraq.
Now see this is what happens when you give a child of privilege, who has never had to use his fists to defend himself in his life, the opportunity to wage a war. He simply cannot tell when he is getting his ass handed to him.
I guess he thinks that if we are still dropping bombs and shooting bullets at the "bad guys" we must be winning.
To use an analogy of a barroom brawl (of which I am ashamed to admit I have intimate knowledge), it is like the drunk guy swinging wildly, striking bystanders which then want to also kick his ass, all while missing his primary target, and then claiming that he is "kicking ass".
Just because you have not stopped fighting it does not mean that you are getting closer to victory. You are exhausting yourself to the point that all your opponent, or even a new protagonist, has to do is simply step in, strike you soundly once in the jaw, and drop you like a soggy sack of shit.
If Bush had not had his father's influence and money to get him out of every scrape he ever got into, he might have some idea of when to throw in the towel.
It is time to throw in the towel.
Hell it is time to throw in the whole laundry basket.
