Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey
disagree. if the romance dies, it's not the marriage that killed it, it's the people in the marriage. in and of itself, marriage is whatever 2-people (unless you are a polyg) make it. now I sound like a damn NRA commercial ... the til-death-do-us part part!
actually, enigma, I think I am the opposite of a romanticist. I am a realist. I think the concept of marriage is whatever the people involved decide it will be. Marriage itself is just a social construct to legally sanctify that relationship.
I definitely agree the relationship between the marriage partners can die, that one or the other or both people together can kill it. It's a work in progress & takes full cooperation of both people. And I know that for many people, love does not last a lifetime.
Where I was disagreeing was that romance dies due solely to being married. And if I'm completely honest, I think some sort of renewable contract might be a better form of marriage than our society currently allows.
Now see I am a romantic. A true romantic who believes that real romance is about commitment, and passion, possibly some bodily fluid exchange.
It does not come in a box, or cost thousands of dollars. It costs time and an emotional commitment.
That is why the artifice of marriage seems like a the worst possible place for romance to flourish.
It is like going to the zoo to see how animals behave in the wild. They stare out through their bars at you as if to ask "will you please just shoot me?" Sad.
