Nobel Peace Prize winner and international symbol of freedom Nelson Mandela is flagged on U.S. terrorist watch lists and needs special permission to visit the USA. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice calls the situation "embarrassing," and some members of Congress vow to fix it.
The requirement applies to former South African leader Mandela and other members of South Africa's governing African National Congress (ANC), the once-banned anti-Apartheid organization. In the 1970s and '80s, the ANC was officially designated a terrorist group by the country's ruling white minority. Other countries, including the United States, followed suit.
Yeah I can see how the man who stood up to an oppressive regime and managed to attract the attention of the world to horrible human rights violations being visited upon his people might frighten the Bush Fourth Reich.
I actually think the Bushies are more afraid of intelligent people who have experience fighting oppressive regimes visiting this country then they are of a terrorist bomber showing up at the airport.
Well, duh. TSA stands for Thick-Skulled Assholes who couldn't find their own ass with both hands, nevermind terrorist bombs. It's all security theater, intended to reassure the sheeple that Big Brother Loves Them and only wants the best for them, protecting them from the evil mean hoards of Emmanuel Goldstein's terror group...
