After 27 years MTV decides to start running political ads. Why the change? Because 27 years ago there was no Barack Obama.

The Viacom MTV Networks channel -- once known for round-the-clock music videos and now home to a host of reality shows -- says it will now take political ads, though only from political candidates and party political committees, not from third parties.

Somewhere Barack Obama is having a very good day.

This will help reach that extremely important youth vote that may be more decisive this year then in any other election cycle.

So remember kids, this is your country, MTV plays your music, and Obama is your candidate.

Oh, and this is your favorite political blog (Sorry couldn't resist.)

  2. I must be losing my mind. I distinctly recall MTV's "rock the vote" for Bill 1992. Well, maybe that wasn't an ad. Yeah, that must be it.
