How to survive being lost in the Alps. Guys might as well just skip this post. Not for you.

Rescue workers in the Bavarian Alps have saved an American hiker who had been missing for 70 hours in a dramatic helicopter operation after she sent a signal with her sports bra.

The unnamed 24-year-old woman from Colorado had hung her sports bra on a timber transport cable in the Berchtesgaden region near the Austrian border in hopes that someone would find her, police chief Adolph Günther told The Local on Friday.

"She was saved because she was really clever and in good physical shape," Günther said.

Okay not to be a misogynist here, but I think it is pretty clear that this woman used her sex to get rescued.

Is that even fair?

I mean if she were some old ugly broad would running her support hose up a tree have brought rescuers rushing to her aide? I think not.

All I am saying is that if I had sent my jockstrap up that transport cable I would STILL be freeballing my way through the scary Bavarian forests.

  1. Girlfriend must have a big rack for rescue workers to spot her sports bra.

    Pam Anderson size.

  2. just showed this to husband so we could both laugh at the imagery! guess you're saying granny bloomers wouldn't be so easily spottable (or might be mistaken for a white owl flapping its wings in the breeze)? I think she (the lost hiker) was in a use-it-or-lose-it situation, so she put up her most unecessary piece of clothing. It's called Triage!

BTW, it was your last line that gave us a gut laugh. Also your labels. Good reportage!
