Sarah Palin's first nationally televised political speech.

I don't think that John McCain has ever appeared so old to me. He looks like Palin's great-grandfather!

As you can see Todd Palin has deep ties to the oil companies and a vested interest in seeing oil exploration continue in Alaska.

Sarah may seem like a breath of fresh air to people who are tired of seeing the same old white haired men leading the GOP. But make no mistake, she is simply bait to bring some of those disenfranchised women who are still angry that they cannot vote for Hillary Clinton over to the dark side. You can bet it is no accident that Palin sums up her speech by mentioning Hillary Clinton and her 18 million supporters.

But she is adamantly against a woman's right to choose, has advocated for Creationism to be taught alongside Evolution in our public schools, and fought to keep the Polar Bears from being added to the endangered species list so that it did not interfere with the Republicans crazed desire to drill all over Alaska's pristine wilderness.

Any woman who believes that Sarah Palin is a substitute for Hillary Clinton has either never really supported Hillary's political positions, or is simply too stupid to vote.

Update: Okay I just saw Keith repeat the same bit of misinformation about Sarah Palin's attempt to have the state trooper fired. The trooper in question is Mike Wooten, and he was married to Sarah's sister. He apparently tasered his 11 year old step son when the boy asked what it felt like. The boy was uninjured and was a willing participant. Wooten did NOT beat up Sarah Palin's sister! It has been claimed that he threatened to kill Sarah's father when he hired an attorney to fight Wooten in court for custody of their children. He also threatened to "bring Sarah down" politically.

But the thing that seems to have REALLY pissed Sarah and her family off, was when Wooten dared to show up at the Governor''s picnic with a DATE!

Sarah was not protecting her family from harm. She was trying to protect herself from embarrassment!

uh...palin's husband is also a native eskimo and both she and her husband have a great appreciation of the beauty of the wilderness in alaska

your quickness to turn on good people from your state to reiterate leftist spin is pathetic

  3. Tsk tsk tsk.

I was not "quick to turn".

I gave her the benefit of the doubt and then turned on her when she started acting like every other oil company pimping Republican.

And her husband being part native does not have anything to do with competence or trustworthiness.

Palin has been exposed as an overly ambitious politician willing to use her influence to bully others into participating in unethical behaviors, and willing to allow herself to be prostituted by the McCain campaign in a doomed attempt to woo disenfranchised Hillary supporters.

    Awesome insight.

Most women that were on the fence for Obama I doubt will be swayed by her taking away reproductive rights and teaching Creationism in school like its some kind of science.

But undoubtedly some will vote because she's simply a woman. This is what the neocons are hoping for. These are the same people who believe torture is fine as long as we are doing the torture. I can only hope its them one day.

    Thanks again.

"The boy was uninjured and was a willing participant" - oh, then it's okay to taser 11 year olds. You're a real genius. You're about the stupidest blogger I've ever read. A real kool-aid drinker. Give up, loser.

  7. Hi Gryphen. Found your blog thru Field's. Glad I did, and thanks for the inside scoop on Tropper Gate. As an Alaskan, I'd love to hear your opinion on a post I did yesterday on Palin.

  8. I understand McCain's Quayle also advocates the teaching of creationism in public schools.

So, let me get this straight. Palin thinks she's smarter than the United States Supreme Court?

    Can she spell tomato?

  9. Hi Kit,

I read your post and like it very much. You certainly pulled no punches.

Anonymous I did not claim that Wooten's tasering of his 11 year old stepson was an okay thing to do. All i did was straighten out the rumor that he had "attacked" the boy with the taser.

And Chris I don't know if Palin can spell or not, but there is a very persistent rumor that she can pretend to be pregnant to protect a family member!

  10. Did you email Olbermann about that misinformation? it was his report that got me to googling about this today. I was wondering, gosh, why would anyone have to "pressure" a police/pubic safety chief to fire someone who had tasered a child, which SURELY he was arrested for? It took me moments to find out the real story.

The wonder woman "my water broke in texas, so i gave a speech anyway, and then flew 9 hours back to then bypass major hospitals in anchorage and drive 50 miles to my hometown to give birth, AND, am sooo hot, that MY pregnancies don't even show!" story doesn't pass the LOL test.

  11. There is more about the "Palin pregnancy" in a link three posts up.

    Hey Gryphen,

Sorry but I don't see any links in your post about the pregnancy. I would love to read more about it.

  13. Some guy over at the Progressive Alaska blog just gave a personal testimony to Gov. Palin and her friends and their politics in Wasilla. My oh my, that woman doesn't look good under strong light, and believe you me, there's going to be some strong lights directed her way these next few months.

I'm just a stranger passing through, sopping up news and gossip from Alaskans about their governor's new honor.

    Cheers.

Can any of you tell me who made this statement?

Millions of Hillary Clinton supporters will forego policy and issue disgust with the Republican Party and vote for McCain/Palin.

Washington Post/ABC News survey published on Tuesday found most of McCain's surge in the polls since the Republican National Convention was due to a big shift in support among white women voters.

His campaign manager, David Plouffe, was more pointed when asked about the findings at a briefing on Monday, telling a Washington Post reporter, "Your poll is wrong."

Get ready losers, payback is a bitch!!!

I can happily say, with pride, I registered as a republican today!
Fuck the dem party... I will never vote dem again unless Hillary runs in 2012 :)

I am listening to this for the first time in over a year. One thing that strikes me is, what in the world does it matter if the Palin's were coaches and "taught their children to excel in sports"? Why are conservatives so into sports?
