If you take some of John McCain's past misogynist remarks about women, his gorilla rape joke, the time he suggested his wife partake in a topless beauty pageant, and his laughing when a supporter called Hillary Clinton a b**ch, it definitely contributes to a sort of dirty old man ick factor with the so called "Maverick".
It is looking more and more like McCain just likes to have attractive women standing with him on stage. Like those old USO tours that Bob Hope used to travel with. Hope realized that his shtick only went so far and that he needed some eye candy to keep the soldiers attention.
Which sort of makes Sarah Palin a "Trophy Vice President". Creepy.
I think you are confusing the instance in which McCain laughed with a supporter who called Clinton a "b**ch" during last year's Republican primaries and the instance in which McCain called his own wife a c**t in front of a room of reporters in 1992.
