Because of unjustified Republican attacks ACORN has suffered death threats and vandalism.

An ACORN community organizer received a death threat and the liberal-leaning voter registration group's Boston and Seattle offices were vandalized Thursday, reflecting mounting tensions over its role in registering 1.3 million mostly poor and minority Americans to vote next month.

Attorneys for the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now were notifying the FBI and the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division of the incidents, said Brian Kettenring, a Florida-based spokesman for the group.

Republicans, including presidential candidate John McCain, have verbally attacked the group repeatedly in recent days, alleging a widespread vote-fraud scheme, although they've provided little proof. It was disclosed Thursday that the FBI is examining whether thousands of fraudulent voter-registration applications submitted by some ACORN workers were part of a systematic effort or isolated incidents.

Kettenring said that a senior ACORN staffer in Cleveland, after appearing on television this week, got an e-mail that said she "is going to have her life ended."

A female staffer in Providence, R.I., got a threatening call from someone who said words to the effect of "We know you get off work at 9," then uttered racial epithets, he said.

McClatchy Newspapers is withholding the women's names because of the threats.
Separately, vandals broke into the group's Boston and Seattle offices and stole computers, Kettenring said.

The incidents came the day after McCain charged in the final presidential debate that ACORN's voter-registration drive "may be perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history" and may be "destroying the fabric of democracy."

The Republican party is engaging in the kind of vile and hate filled behaviors that have not been seen in this country since the 1960's. They seem determined to destroy this country as punishment for not allowing them to retain their positions of power.

John McCain and Sarah Palin have inflamed the anger of their constituents with lies and hate speech until it has caused these indefensible threats and attacks against people who are simply trying to do their civic duty.

How is that patriotic? Are these people not the "real Americans" that Sarah Palin talks about?

They keep acting like the victim when in fact they are the victimizers!

ACORN is NOT involved in voter fraud! The duplicate registrations happen EVERY year. ACORN flags them so that the office of voter registration can find them and toss them. But ACORN has to hand ALL of the registrations they get into the local registration offices.

Remember just because somebody may have filled out multiple voter registrations, they can still only vote once! And if Mickey Mouse is registered to vote, he still cannot do so unless he shows up in person with an official state identification. So there is no way that the overzealous workers who may be falsifying registrations can have ANY impact on the outcome of this election.

This is clearly not a case of voter fraud.

But if you want to see a REAL case of voter registration fraud just click here. Now unlike the ACORN allegations THIS might in fact impact an election as it may keep Democrats from getting the proper ballots on election day. All ACORN can be blamed for is giving the clerks in the registration office too much overtime, but the Young Political Majors have actually attempted to register voters in the wrong party. Now which one looks more like fraud to you?
