Barack Obama leads John McCain in Gallup Poll Daily tracking interviewing conducted Wednesday through Friday by an identical 52% to 42% margin among both traditional likely voters and expanded likely voters. Obama leads by a similar 52% to 41% margin among all registered voters.
I have received many phone calls and e-mails from friends and family expressing confusion, concern, and even panic at the idea that this election will somehow be stolen like the 2000 and 2004 elections.
I understand the fear out there, I have felt it myself many times.
I cannot tell you how many sleepless nights I have spent, or hours blogging away hoping to make a positive impact. I have gone through an emotional gauntlet, from fear, to surprise, to calm, to panic, to hopeful, back to fear, and finally landing at peaceful.
One thing that helped me the most was casting my vote the Tuesday before last.
When I put my ballot in that box I felt a sense of calm settle over me and I wore the dumbest smile for the rest of the day that you can imagine. And that feeling has not changed since.
When you vote, you will feel that it is making a difference. You will feel your connection to a larger purpose. This time your vote will be counted, and it will make a difference. Trust me, and more importantly, trust Obama.
Namaste.
People are standing in lines for hours and turnout is unprecedented. That doesn't sound to me like McCain voters. That sounds like people dedicated to CHANGE, and desperate to get the neocon horror out of office.
ReplyDeleteI am voting on the 4th because I probably won't have long lines, I never have anyway where I vote and I can go at any time of the day. And to vote early I'd have to drive 20 miles and definitely wait in line for hours.
Luckily I think I am in a basically safe voting area (y'know... overwhelmingly LIBERAL).
I share a tad in the panic because of being burned twice already. But this feels SO DIFFERENT and also appears so different. It's like the people are out there peacefully taking it back.
It's a thing of beauty. I'm going to actually try to ENJOY the next couple of days.
Namaste.
