Secret Service blames Sarah Palin's speeches for increased death threats toward Barack Obama.

The Republican vice presidential candidate attracted criticism for accusing Mr Obama of "palling around with terrorists", citing his association with the sixties radical William Ayers.

The attacks provoked a near lynch mob atmosphere at her rallies, with supporters yelling "terrorist" and "kill him" until the McCain campaign ordered her to tone down the rhetoric.

But it has now emerged that her demagogic tone may have unintentionally encouraged white supremacists to go even further.

The Secret Service warned the Obama family in mid October that they had seen a dramatic increase in the number of threats against the Democratic candidate, coinciding with Mrs Palin's attacks.

Michelle Obama, the future First Lady, was so upset that she turned to her friend and campaign adviser Valerie Jarrett and said: "Why would they try to make people hate us?"

The revelations, contained in a Newsweek history of the campaign, are likely to further damage Mrs Palin's credentials as a future presidential candidate. She is already a frontrunner, with Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, to take on Mr Obama in four years time.

Details of the spike in threats to Mr Obama come as a report last week by security and intelligence analysts Stratfor, warned that he is a high risk target for racist gunmen. It concluded: "Two plots to assassinate Obama were broken up during the campaign season, and several more remain under investigation. We would expect federal authorities to uncover many more plots to attack the president that have been hatched by white supremacist ideologues."

Irate John McCain aides, who blame Mrs Palin for losing the election, claim Mrs Palin took it upon herself to question Mr Obama's patriotism, before the line of attack had been cleared by Mr McCain.

You want to hear something funny?

I had half convinced myself that I would stop posting about Sarah Palin and just let her self destruct on her own.

But with these new revelations that simply will not be good enough for me.

Sarah Palin has proven to be a catastrophic embarrassment to Alaskans.

Because of her the whole country thinks we are uneducated, that we are religious fanatics, and that we are racists. And that is just not true. Not even a little bit.

Because of that misrepresentation she is much too dangerous to be allowed to remain in charge of my state. The longer she stays in the public eye as the face of Alaska the more damage she does to the place of my birth.

So as distasteful as it is, I will continue to post about Sarah Palin in the hopes that an informed populace will keep her from attempting to further her political career, either in Alaska or on the national stage. It is my duty as a REAL Alaskan.

  1. There is another image of Alaska courtesy of SP. When her groupies in Wasilla were watching the election results in what looked like a hall of some sort, there were at least 3 dead animal heads hanging on the walls. Now, I am from Northwestern Ontario where hunting is a religion but we generally only allow these heads to hang on the walls of fly in fishing lodges :-) and then only 1 to a room.
However, thanks to SP, we got to know the wonderful Alaskan bloggers and I definitely do not regret that.

out of curiosity, do you think that she is too dumb to have understood what her rhetoric was leading to...or is she really that outright nasty and morally depraved? that's the one thing i can't figure about her. in the end, i suppose it doesn't matter. after all if you get someone killed, what does intent really matter, to the dead, or their loved ones left behind? but, it's a matter of curiosity to me.

Catherine I have no idea if she is more evil then stupid. But she seems to have a fair amount of both at her disposal.

In your tolerant, compassionate hit piece on Sarah Palin you forgot to mention Biden remarking that President Rosevelt spoke on TV during the Depression, when in reality Herbert Hoover was preident during the Depression and there was no TV then. Ha, ha. BTW, there were four Bush Doctrines, all of which were named by various people at different times. Can any of you brilliants name one?

Also, more important - where is the evidence that the FBI is investigatiing any of her rhetoric? What Bull! Where do you guys dream up this stuff? If you want to see vile accusations which could lead some crank to commit murder, check out your own blogs about President Bush. Oh, I forgot - Bush and his family members deserve it, right?

You hypocrites totally disgust me. GOOD LUCK, SARAH. i LOVE YOU.

"... had half convinced myself that I would stop posting about Sarah Palin and just let her self destruct on her own...."

Took the woods right out of my mouth. Soooo tired of dealing with this person, but then the anger comes back.

And now, she publically states she intends to continue charging us for her at home per diem and children's travel/lodging.

We must get this woman out of power. She is so filled with anger, hostility and venmon at her "enemies," people who have done nothing except hold a mirror up to her narcissistic face.

AND WE MUST NOT LET THE LEGISLATURE "MOVE ON" ON TROOPERGATE. If the do, I guarantee you the knives she puts into their backs will make them rue the day they "moved on."

You do NOT 'move on' when a Narcissist is after you. You either TAKE THEIR POWER AWAY, OR HAVE THAT POWER USED ON YOU!

She has not returned to "go to work", she has returned to destroy every person who said a negative thing about her or simply disagreed.

And right now, that includes the voters of Alaska!

Don't stop posting on Palin. SHe is a power hungry elitist and say anything to get that power. She had a taste of it when she became the VP candidate and now, going back to Alaska just doesn't cut it anymore. People need to know that this moron is the most dangerous viper on this planet. She is too dumb to recognize that she is stupid. In a way, thank goodness McCain picked her. It guaranteed an Obama victory.

  10. Juanita,
lets stop with the "hate rhetoric. Calm down. I am sorry you are filled with such anger. The Obama campaign never went after Palin and remained very positive and that is the perception of an overwhelming majority of Americans. Never once did you see Obama/Biden hate monger, race bait or bring up sex. Democrats don't do that. If you look back on concession speeches of former presidential candidates Democrats also don't "boo" the other candidates.
You never saw or heard people at the Obama/Biden rallies yell "kill him" and if they did I have confidence that Obama/Biden or any person in the rally would have stopped that type of language. It's not acceptable in a Democracy and we have to rise above hate mongering.
Bidens gaffe on Hoover has nothing to do with hate mongering. The FBI will investigate the rise in threats to Obama and his family, not Sarah Palins divisive language. The unfortunate part of this for Ms. Palin is that thanks to You Tube this will follow her forever. She should have put a little more thought into it before she spoke and she will pay a hefty price career wise.
    Democrats have

  11. I'm from Wisconsin, but I understand how angry you Alaskans are.

I really think her intelligence the main problem. She buys into the evil of the far right, a little bit naive and a little bit having fun with "the game." Soon she will find out how vicious that game gets when the Republicans turn on her.

Inciting violence is a last desperate attempt at power that failed because Americans saw through it. I hope she doesn't try to run again. Some Americans seem to still be attached to her feigned innocence.

Is that Hugley guy on CNN joking about running with her in 2012 or is he serious. He has few loose screws too.

Thanks for letting me vent my feelings.

Gryphen, you and your fellow Alaskans must bring this woman down...she is dangerous, and that now has been proven by the Secret Service. Please don't let up...we are in for all Sarah all the time this week with her on Today, Fox News, etc.

I'm from KS and god knows we've had our share of nutjob politicians and activists. We sure have learned about people over the last eight years, eh? And even more so over the last few months. The true nature of the hateful, delusional, moronic wingnut base has emerged thanks to Sarah Palin and others who empower them. The good news is that we also know that the majority of folks—although too apathetic and accepting in general—are pretty reasonable, or at least leaning in the right direction.

Keep at it Gryphen, and thanks a million. We'll keep checking in—love you progressives in AK—and wish you well.
