Local Alaska blogger Phil Munger receives well deserved attention as a "National Science hero".

Special mentions

Philip Munger, a music teacher and blogger in a Wasilla, Alaska, high school, did his bit for science in September. Munger confirmed that Sarah Palin, then the US Republican nominee for vice-president, believed that dinosaurs and humans coexisted 6000 years ago. Plenty of scientists offered their advice to the presidential candidates, but we nominate Munger for doing his bit to counter creationism.

Phil Munger is an extremely intelligent man who has worked tirelessly for many years, while living in the wilds of Wasilla, to uncover corruption, promote Democratic ideals, and bring wonderful music to the great uncultured masses of Alaska.

He is a friend, an inspiration, and probably more then anybody else, the very reason that the progressive movement and Alaska bloggers have come into their own in recent months.

It was Phil who brought Alaska bloggers out of the shadows and hosted an opportunity for us to meet, organize, and learn from each other.

In my most humble opinion Alaska progressive bloggers, Alaska Democrats, and in fact ALL Alaska citizens owe Phil Munger and Progressive Alaska a debt of gratitude.

Congratulations Phil, and thank you my friend.

Well put Gryphen. Phil is my inspiration also. Without Phil's blog I probably would have killed off AlaskaReport a year ago. DZ
