Paul Krugman reminds Barack Obama that he does not have the luxury of allowing Bush to get away with his criminal behavior.

Please click the title to read the entire article. Below is the section that I found particulalry relevant.

Now, it’s true that a serious investigation of Bush-era abuses would make Washington an uncomfortable place, both for those who abused power and those who acted as their enablers or apologists. And these people have a lot of friends. But the price of protecting their comfort would be high: If we whitewash the abuses of the past eight years, we’ll guarantee that they will happen again.

I think to most of us this is a no brainer.

If you break the law, you must face justice. It is the very foundation of this great country.

Everybody knows that the Bush administration has broken an unbelievable number of laws, and behaved as if they had that right by virtue of the fact that nobody was in a position to hold them accountable.

Well they are only wrong about that if indeed somebody holds them accountable.

And it falls to the Obama administration and the new Democratic Congress to do that very thing.

We did not simply elect Barack Obama to repair our country and to provide a better future for America. We also elected him to hold the people accountable for doing so much damage to it in the first place.

  3. The only problem is the more people talk about the more likely it is that Bush hands out pardons to the lot of them...can't everyone just be quiet for 4 more days...please. Then we can do what needs to be done. I am just so afraid Bush will do pre-emptive pardons like Ford did for Nixon. Then where would we be??

  4. I am hoping against hope that the Obama folks are just keeping their cards close to their chests until 12:01 PM on January 20. If the Bushies think they are getting away scott free, maybe W won't spend all night the night of Jan 19 issuing blanket pardons.

Do you realize the scope of Republican arrogance starting with Nixon, Regan, Bush SR and Jr.

And who gets impeached? Bill Clinton for lying about sex.
The republicans NEED to be punished.
They will continue to flaunt the laws of this country until they are severely punished.

If we do not do it maybe the World Court will
