President Obama chooses state Senator Kim Elton as his director of Alaska affairs for the Department of the Interior.

Longtime Juneau Democrat Kim Elton resigned from the state Senate on Monday to take a job as director of Alaska affairs for the U.S. Department of the Interior.

"This job is the funnel through which the Alaska issues are going to be addressed," Elton said in an interview after an emotional farewell speech in the Senate.

Oooh that sounds very important, what a feather in Mr. Elton's hat. I am very happy to see a fellow Alaskan receive such a prestigious post. I cannot imagine how ANYBODY could not feel a sense of pride to see one of our own do so well.

Oops! Perhaps I spoke too soon.

Governor Palin's official statement on the appointment of Senator Kim Elton:

"Senator Elton pledged his allegiance to President Obama last summer. We wish him well as he moves on and hope that he uses this job for Alaska's benefit - to advance the state's oil and gas issues, including the natural gas pipeline, and to work diligently to remove the barriers imposed upon all states that want to open up their shores to off-shore drilling. I hope he can represent Alaskans by opening ANWR, conveying the importance of responsible mining development, and building roads - all issues crucial to the future of our state.

Kim Elton "pledged his allegiance to President Obama" last summer? I don't think that Barack Obama was even our President until November 4. Did I miss that first election or something?

Or perhaps Sarah Palin is still kind of smarting over the fact that she and John McCain lost the election to Obama/Biden and simply cannot stop eating those sour, sour grapes.

And can you believe how petty her press release is? She "wishes him well" so long as he supports the things on her agenda, like advancing "the states' oil and gas issues" including, of course, "the natural gas pipeline" and of course to "open up their shores to off-shore drilling", and last but by no means least "opening ANWR". So how supportive of our Governor to wish Senator Elton well just so long as he does EXACTLY what she wants him to do. I guess if he does not meet her expectations, and act like a Republican rather than a Democrat, she will start cursing his very name.

Ahh Sarah Palin. She never fails to remind us how petty and sophomoric she is at every opportunity, does she?

Sarah Palin is devoid of any intellect, political protocol, empathy, class, and self awareness. I'll give her one thing...she promised transparency in her administration, and it is transparent that she is the most incompetent governor in the country.

Kim Elton pledged allegiance to the United States of America.

    Apparently Sarah Palin did not.

  3. Palin's statement would make one think that a deal last summer was now paying off in an appointment. Dude probably wrote it...or she took dictation. The comment makes her sound like one hateful person.

Surely the exclusive rights on pettiness come from bloggers such as yourself, as proven week after week in the attacks you make on Gov Palin.

For Gods sake anonymous! You are so lacking in courage to come here and rant at us. Look at your stupid governor. I was raised to believe there is good in all human life, but Palin has taught me that some people are just beyond redemption. She can go to church every day day of the week...yet she has not one christian bone in her body.

Seems to me you are perhaps a one of those witless wonders thats lives on Team Sarah. LOL>..I am proud to state they wont even let me in.

These "attacks" as you call them are not attacks at all. They are the cold ugly truth...and some people are brave enough to speak it. If you dont like what you see here...go read town hall...team sarah...or listen to Rush or Fox News. How dare you berate us?

  8. You know crystalwolf, I actually think that the ADN links to our blogs because we can say things that would cost them subscriptions and advertisers.

I believe that they are trying to get the truth out, but are finding themselves hamstrung by the business side of the news business.

In a way we are providing them a public service. I actually don't mind the trolls. EVERYBODY has the right to be heard.

I could be missing it but as of this posting, the press release on Kim Elton does not appear at the Gov's official site. Did someone somewhere recognize the utter lack of class in her statement? Perhaps so, but they did not have the last name Palin or Heath--that is quite evident.

The comment is almost as petty as your petty attempt to twist things around for your own good Gryphen.

    For instance, had Palin stated

"Kim Elton pledged his allegiance to Obama last summer."

You would have cited Palin on failure to address Obama as President. There is always going to be a no win situation when picking knits. Get over it bub.

It is pretty clear now that Mr. Elton amounts to a paid political character assassin. He brought an unsubstantiated case for purely political reasons and is now rewarded for it. I will not be at all surprised if Mr. Elton now throws Alaska "under the bus" in order to further sabotage governor Palin in the future. Watch him closely Alaskans. Governor Palin was more lenient to him than many would have been. She has laid out a list of projects that he should supoort. Alaskans, watch and see if he does. I doubt it.

And my, how interesting that this man, who led a campaign against Palin, is rewarded with a cushy position in Obama's administration. He does not exactly stand out with qualifications....fishy for sure!
