In her interview with People magazine, Sarah recounted the conversation. "He looks like he has Down syndrome," Willow said, looking at her mother. Sarah tried to reassure her daughter. "If he does, you know you will still love him, Willow. It'll be okay." Unsatisfied, Willow asked, "Why didn't you tell us?" Sarah went into an explanation about how she wanted to keep the pregnancy short their sake, and she also admitted she was busy and had not reconciled her own ambivalent feelings. She apologized to her children for the deception but wanted them to understand: "Trig is perfection, and I cannot imagine life without him." Willow was completely forgiving, telling her mother that non of it mattered; Trig, whose name is derived from two Norse meanings--"Brave victory" and "True"---was her brother, and she loved him. (Chapter 13, pg. 187)
Of all of the ridiculous lies told abut the birth of this baby, THIS might be the most blatant and easily disproved.
First we have this statement from Sarah Palin herself:
Reporter: In the family statement that was issued by… it said through early testing you knew you would have some special needs.
Palin: Right…
Reporter: Can you explain?
Palin: Right, yeah, well, He’s got that extra chromosome, he has Down’s Syndrome. And, um, ya can’t tell at this stage by looking ya know but, um, there are some characteristics there that I think will become more apparent, but just absolutely perfect in our eyes and we’re just very, very, very blessed and, um it’s, its a perfect situation for us when we first heard it was, ya know, kind of confusing and, and at first blush hearing the news it was you know, I… it was received by me for a couple of hours there after hearing the news as, uh, very, very challenging… even sad… that day but just knowing that there’s purpose in every siutaiton… there’s certainly good purpose in every child. Just knowing that, um, we should feel blessed that, uh god would choose us...
So let me get this straight. Palin herself points out that you cannot tell at this stage by looking at Trig that he has Down Syndrome, but the amazing Willow Palin was able to tell minutes after seeing her new "brother" that he had the syndrome? I mean she did not just say "there is something wrong with him", according to the People magazine article she was able to do a complete diagnosis in a matter of minutes. Quick somebody get this child a scholarship to Harvard Medical School! She is a child prodigy!
Do you need further proof that Willow could not have possibly made this diagnosis? Your wish is my command.
This is newborn baby Trig.
Here is a list of the physical features that can be identified in a baby with Down Syndrome:
Head and facial features:
Flattened back of head.
Attractive Almond-shaped eyes, with one eye lid a little droopy.
Slightly flattened bridge across nose.
Smallish ears, positioned slightly lower on the head, with a small fold at the top of the ear.
Smallish mouth.
Slightly protruding tongue.
Hand features:
Horizontal crease in palm of hand .
Slightly shortened fingers.
The little finger curves inward .
Foot features:
Slightly enlarged gap between the big and second toes.
Slightly shortened toes.
Go ahead, point out the physical features that leave no doubt in your mind that this little guy has Down Syndrome.
Can you do it? Well then consider yourself far more intelligent and observant then the average person.
Now ask yourself, did you know the features of a Down Syndrome child before you read my list?
And then ask yourself, would you have noticed any of this if you had not been looking for it?
And then one final question, do you believe yourself to be more or less observant then the average fourteen year old girl?
I do not know how anybody can even begin to believe this version of events. And then when you add it to all of the other incredibly obvious inconsistencies, well how are we not conspiracy theorists?
Now if you believe that this story cannot get anymore convoluted or unbelievable I will leave you with this. I am in the process of tracking down a story that will absolutely make all of our heads explode. It has already caused me a few sleepless nights and headaches but I am still not quite ready to publish it.
Stay tuned, and if you want more Palin pregnancy information then please visit both my friend Audrey's blog and very informative website.
By the way this post should in no way be taken as a slam against Willow Palin. She may actually be one of my FAVORITE Palin women.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe for an instant that this story was her idea or that she even knew about it until her mother coached her later on what to say in case a reporter cornered her about it.
"Oops honey I made up a little white lie during the People magazine interview. Could you cover for mommy? Thanks Pumpkin."
Hi Gryphen,
ReplyDeletethanks again for another excellent post!
I would like to tell your readers that the audio-tape of the interview with Sarah Palin which you mentioned in your post can be downloaded here:

Stop teasing me!
ReplyDeleteMake my head explode NOW!!
Willow: From the looks on her face in some of the campaign photos, I get the impression she is the only one who takes her mother with a grain of salt. A GIANT grain of salt.
ReplyDeleteI've listened to this interview on Palin's Deceptions blog, and it does sound like Sarah was basically making shit up off the top of her head...I know pregnancy hormones can make you say and do wierd things, but this was ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteHa, ha...maybe Willow's destined for a career in genetic research, or the next Doogie Howser. The intelligence must have gone SOMEWHERE in that Palin family.
I can't wait for your head exploding post...I know there is more to this Palin soap opera than we could possibly know. It's more addicting than Gossip Girl...
Thanks, Gryphen, for some mighty fine blog posts. You are the exception I've seen/met in personal experience that the only people who are mesmerized by the what-ifs of birth Palin-style are women who've given birth. (My husband, sons, and childless female friends yawn and change the subject.) Everything SP has said on the subject of her "pregnancy" has made us moms go Hmmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteOne of SP's biggest Hmmmm-remarks is that she allegedly underwent amniocentesis at thirteen weeks. That's too early for amnio. One can undergo chorionic villus sampling starting at ten weeks, but no woman I've ever heard of who would not consider abortion under any circumstances has chosen invasive prenatal testing. Such testing (whether performed trans-abdominally or through the cervix) poses a very small, but possible, risk to the fetus. So why on earth would SP bother?
If a preterm fetus is induced, reputable ob/gyns (that is, not Cathy Baldwin-Johnson) perform amnio in order to determine lung maturity. SP says that after that Great Bogus Trek back from Texas, her labor was "induced." ???
Looking forward to your posts with great anticipation!

Will we have to wait long for the head-exploding post?
ReplyDeleteMake.my.head.explode.NOW.
ReplyDelete(Sounds kinda kinky, til you realize I'm a girl!)
PRETTY PLEASE?????
Yellowgirl
With all her lies and deceptions my head exploded a long time ago.
ReplyDeletePlease don't wait too long...please!
You are a big tease - hope you are happy now - none of us will be able to sleep either waiting for your "head exploding" post!
ReplyDeleteLOL looking forward to it - and hope you don't make us wait long :)
Yeah what was written in that book complete "moose pucky"!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the head-exploding post!
OMG...Gryphen, I really hope Palin or her minions read this blog and a few others. If they do...they are shaking in their boots. You take care of yourself...seriously now.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure why really...but I trust you, AKM and a few other bloggers much more than I trust the MSM, Sad state of affairs that is.
Laurie
The the "head exploder" the revelation that Sarah Palin is a he?
ReplyDeletehe he!
Thanks for great post!!
ReplyDeleteOne thing...although I doubt a young teenager would even know about DS features...why would she ask her mother why she didn't tell them? As if the young teenager was aware of the testing and what such testing could reveal? She didn't ask has he been tested for DS (kids' thinking). Sounds all made up like a sweet, little family moment.
And no, I probably wouldn't notice, other than the lower ears...and then hoping that my observation was incorrect, I would tell myself it could be just a family trait.
Of course, all the photo evidence proves GINO was not the birth mother and that she faked a pregnancy. I am patiently waiting on that press release...PALIN FAKED PREGNANCY FOR POLITICAL GAIN!
Gryphen,
ReplyDeleteI am also very excited about your announcement and would like my head to explode. However, I urge you to check your story very, very carefully. If it's really as big as you think, then double or triple check it. There are lots of stories and rumours surrounding the Palins. It's incredibly difficult to separate the true stories from the false ones. Also, sometimes imagination can deceive you. I really would like you to have a real "coup", because your blog is truly outstanding. All I am saying is, double or triple check your story, because you are a quality blog.
mdlw56,
ReplyDeleteGood call on the 'why didn't you tell us?' question!
You are absolutely right, that is not the way a 14 yr old would even inquire about such things.
GINO making this stuff up as she goes along is one thing, but the people who actually believe this crap?? I just don't get it!
FACT:
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin is a proven and demonstrable LIAR.
Therefore, EVERYTHING she says and does must be questioned in the pursuit of Truth.
I agree with you Gryphen, I think Willow is probably the only Palin I have very much use for. Well, there is little Piper, but I just feel sorry for her.
ReplyDeleteCome on, we are all waiting for our heads to explode!
You quote Sarah as saying that she wanted to "keep the pregnancy short." Over at Palin's Deceptions, I recall the story about Palin not telling anyone about her preganacy until her 7th month-- that way, she was only pregnant for 6 weeks or so. I've given birth to two kids, and it's my memory that each pregnancy lasted about 9 months, whether I told anyone or not, whether I wore maternity clothes or a decorative scarf-- I was still pregnant for 9 months. I'm amazed that Sarah is blessed by having such short pregnancies and perfect children.
ReplyDeleteThanks- this is wonderful and very much to the point. As usual, SP is less than honest. Regarding the information that can cause exploding heads-- you can tell us with the qualification that it is a rumor subject to verification-- how about it ??
ReplyDeleteHi Gryph,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the hat-tip earlier...
Now you're teasing us with promises of a head-exploding post!
Can't wait.
Reg
Keep up the good work, Gryphen!
ReplyDeleteThe creepy thing about the whole Palin not wanting to reveal the Downs Syndrome Pregnancy.. being a Christian Woman that she is...
ReplyDeleteShe made the pregnancy out to be some sort of Shameful thing (if lil' Trig is indeed hers).. Now how is Trig going to feel one day knowing his Mama hid his pregnancy ..doesn't every baby no matter (especially in a pro-life , God knows what he's doing household) deserve to get the special announcement and the family all supportive reading up on Downs Syndrome and decorating his nursery
"IF" what she says is true and she wanted to HIDE it for as long as possible.. that to me is really sad .. almost embarrassing
She is touting I gave birth to a Downs Syndrome baby.. hail me.. but the freak was embarrassed and shamed by him.. it's almost sickening (I'm a mother so get a little sentimental here)
I've always had an issue about her having said that the pregnancy was the shortest and easiest of her pregnancies. If she truly didn't tell her family because she had to come to terms with the fact that the baby had DS, how would she consider it to be an easy pregnancy? And as anon. (1:16) said, a pregnancy, unless the baby is born extremely prematurely, will last about 8-9 months. Her comments have never made sense to me.
ReplyDeleteWhat's most sad to me is the fact that, from what has been presented (in all forms, not just the 'liberal (gotcha) MSM'), it seems unlikely that Trig has gotten the therapy he needs. This is part of why people are upset about her shoving her kids into the spotlight on the campaign- the question of whether or not her kids' needs are being seen to- whether school for Willow and Piper, or therapy and family bonding time for Trig. I feel bad for her kids- I can't imagine having her as a mother.
i've thought the "willow makes a birthing room DS diagnosis" was bunk from the beginning.
ReplyDeleteyou can see a picture of trig's normal hand crease, and comments about making a visual diagnosis here at my flickr stream:

Bucks said: "I've always had an issue about her having said that the pregnancy was the shortest and easiest of her pregnancies."
ReplyDeleteWell, of course. It was short because Sarah wasn't the one carrying the baby, and easy because she didn't have to go through the labor and delivery!
Another thing about the "Why didn't you tell us?" and I apologize if I missed it already being covered, but why in the world would a 14-year-old have assumed her mother knew anything about it ahead of time and didn't tell them? And if this frequently-absent-from-school-14-year-old is indeed so savvy as to assume pro-life mom had amnio and knew something to tell ahead of time, when was she supposed to have "told them" if this lovely family scene occurred so soon after the birth? It doesn't make sense any which way. This woman is a wack-job.
ReplyDeleteDang I had a whole thing written up and it disappeared.
ReplyDeleteAh....
The gist of my post was that I agree the Willow diagnosing DS is bullsh*&, and part of the attempt on SP's part to attribute the pregnancy to herself. I'll explain:
The probablity of Sarah knowing ahead of time as a 43 yr old mom is very high, the probability if Bristol is the mom is low.
I say if Bristol is the mom, then probably nobody knew about the DS ahead of time, and it was discovered by medical staff after he was born, confirmed with postpartum chromosome testing. Sarah made up Willow "noticing" it, because it went with her story about her not having told the children--which I guess she had to say because she really HADN'T told the children, because she didn't know! What probably actually happened is that the MD told the family they suspected DS based on some possible characteristics, but that they needed to confirm it, whereupon someone (Willow? Bristol?) asked "He looks like he has Down Syndrome?" and SP says "Well, even if he does, we'll still love him"....and "EVEN IF HE DOES" strongly implies to me that they do not know at that point, because if SP KNEW, she would have said, "Why, yes, Willow, he DOES have DS....I knew all along but decided not to tell any of you because I'm a whacko mom, and I was hoping it would just go away.....yadda yadda"
This would also explain why the "we knew through early testing" stories she has told don't ring true. She made it up after the fact to make it seem like she, the 43 yr old mom at advanced maternal age, had HAD prenatal screening for chromosomal abnormalities, when in fact that had not occured because she wasn't the one who was pregnant.
So, yeah, this whole issue of Gryphen's post tends to show, IMHO, that Sarah is not the mother of Trig, and the "early testing" story was a kind of retroactive lie to show it was she not Bristol who had the baby.
And IF SP was the mom, AND KNEW ahead of time about the DS, she is the most self-centered narcissistic thoughtless insensitive mother to her other children. Todd went along with this? Would she rather people thought that of them as parents than that their teenage daughter got pregnant? Apparently, because the other part of her pregnancy story that she willingly admits to is that she did not tell her family (Todd the exception) until right before she announced it to the public....at SEVEN MONTHS.......again, she'd rather the public think she's a secretive narcissistic insensitive mother who would keep news of a new sibling from her TEENAGE children...rather than have the public know that her teenage daughter was pregnant. And I don't care how not pregnant she looked, I contend it would be impossible to keep a real pregancy a secret especially from teenage daughters!!
Which would also explain the hysterical laughter from SP upon finding out that Bristol had gotten pregnant again, so soon.......Sarah had covered for it once, and there was NO WAY she could pull that off again!! And the coverup was all for naught, even, also!! Because now the public would find out that Bristol was pregnant anyway!! Ah, Sarah.....it woulda been so much easier to have just gone with the truth from the get-go wouldn't it a?
Another indication, btw, that Bristol is the mother of Trig is that she did, indeed, become pregnant with "Tripp".....if she's the mom of one, what's so hard to think she's not the mom of two? The five-month miracle pregnancy doesn't disuade me from the Bristol has two babies theory, either. Trig born a little early, Tripp born a little later, one or the other or both, she is easily the mom of both.
Unless Gryphen "knows" something about this "Tripp" business......
Come on Gryphen!! Do tell!!
I've seen lots and lots of pictures of Bristol holding Trig. I've seen plenty of pictures of Willow holding Trig. Sarah made a point of photo ops with herself and Trig. Even Piper has a portfolio of Trig holding pics.
ReplyDeleteWhere are all the photos of Todd holding Trig?
Just wondering.
At long last!
ReplyDeletePalin Deception has a new blog up and it is a doozy!
Is there a law against faking a pregnancy? I mean if doctors, hospital personnel, lawyers, were involved, then I would think that there would indeed be broken laws, or at the very least serious ethical violations. But then, there you go again ... since I too would love to see the headlines read "Palin Faked Pregnancy for Political Gain", I can hear her rebuttal now ... "but the findings show I did nothing illegal or unethical." How can we ever hold this person responsible? Help somebody. Gryphen, I hope you have the nail for the coffin!
ReplyDeleteThis just struck me, having looked at that picture of SP with Trig for the umpteenth time: What mother-of-five (or four), who just happens to be a governor (not that that seems to take up much of her real time) has time to sit down and get one of those fiddly French manicures? Note the white painted under the ends of SP's nails. Shows where her priorities are, fer shure...
