Alaska legislators frustrated with Palin over Federal stimulus money and her desire to flee the scene of her crimes before the session is over.

With just one week left before the Alaska Legislature adjourns for the year, the conflict between Gov. Sarah Palin and lawmakers over taking federal economic stimulus money is the dominant issue left.

Palin herself will be leaving Alaska this week to attend the Vanderburgh County Right to Life dinner in Evansville, Ind. on Thursday, as well as an event for special-needs children. Fairbanks Republican Rep. Jay Ramras questioned her leaving town right at the end of the session, when critical decisions are being made.

"There are some concerns (in the Capitol) about the focus of our chief executive because she's taken a speaking engagement in Indiana for a 36-hour period with only 72 hours left in the legislative session," Ramras said.

Palin, who has barely left Alaska during the legislative session, is clearly irritated.

"I'll be gone for one day. I already have been on record with lawmakers on this. I told lawmakers, you know what, 'Please, don't make me feel that I have to ask you permission, lawmakers, to leave the capital city,' " Palin said.

So let me get this straight. Palin did not want to commit to speaking at the GOP fundraiser in July because "her responsibilities in Alaska prevented her from committing to the speech until the end of the legislative session", even though the session is over this week, but she sees no problem with attending a "right to life" dinner at what is the most crucial time of the legislative session?

Does that make ANY sense to anybody?

Palin now says she'll accept the federal money if the Legislature agrees to use some of it to replace state spending. For example, she wants to cut 93 million state dollars that would go to schools -- and then award the schools that same amount in federal stimulus money to make up the difference.

That could be a tough sell with legislators. School districts are pushing hard to get the stimulus money on top of what they'd otherwise get from the state -- not instead of.

There are questions about whether Palin's plan is legal under the federal stimulus law as well. Anchorage Democratic Rep. Mike Doogan said using the dollars just to replace state spending goes against the purpose of Congress.

"The idea is putting more money into the economy," Doogan said.

I hate to agree with Doogan on anything since he is still on my shit list, but he is absolutely correct about this.

The money from the Federal government is supposed to STIMULATE the economy, not replace state expenditures while we squirrel away the difference for future pet projects of the Governor.

And playing hard and fast with money for the school district is a particularly disgusting political tactic. The last election voted down over 97 million dollars in much needed bonds for improvements to our children's schools. To take away the state money for schools and simply replace it with with these new federal dollars is to short change our children's future.

How can a decision like this come from a woman who has four children of her own?

Regardless of the picture our governor tries to paint of herself, THIS is the real face of the Sarah Palin.

I have come to the conclusion that Sarah cares for neither Alaska or America.

Is what she wants is a vast crowd, chanting Sa-rah, Sa-rah! Sa-rah!

Whatever words come out of her mouth, her actions reveal her true priorities.

    That is her strategy.
She will spend the time elsewhere complaining about her legislator and how they did not get a thing done.

Isn't she being paid to work during the time the legislature is in session? She make it sound like she is doing them a favor by stopping by.

Why do the people of Alaska put up with this behavior?

Picture Sarah Palin in a bizarrely patterned weskit, garters on her longsleeved shirt, wearing a derby, standing in front of a small table with 3 walnut shells. She lifts one up and you see a pea. "C'mon up, folks, win school budget funding if you pick the right one!"

    Yeah, a shell game.

  4. Education is obviously not important to the GINO. After all, her kids can miss school for long periods of time, or even drop out--why should anyone else care about schools?

More and more, in public Sarah Palin exhibits symptoms of mental illness. Doesn't ANYONE in her family or her inner circle care enough about her to get her some help?

I would like to know why Alaskan law is so anti-children.

Is it typical for the parents of children who are dragged along on a burglary to not be charged for their crimes against children?
Or is it that when your name is Palin, you can get by with crimes against children?

Diana Palin's alleged crimes of burglary aren't near as vile as a mother dragging her children into a full on fraud, that is no reason to leave her at the mercy of some sick parents. I just don't get why that poor 4 year-old Palin burglary victim is forgotten by so many in Alaska. It is cold in that state.

In some states when CPS helps children it insures that their needs will be watched.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness month
    http://www.albertleatribune.com/news/2009/apr/11/support-prevention-child-abuse/

The case of Robert Daniel Webb of Washington state has a Bail set at $500,000. He is accused of robbing a convenience store while his 9-year-old daughter was with him.

    The story went viral.

    Washington state cares.

Why is the state of Alaska neglecting the Palin daughter? It's a crime!

First that little bait and switch shell game is illegal. I don't believe the stimulus money can be used in lieu of state money. Otherwise all of the states would balance their budgets that way.

Second, well Palin's excuse about the GOP dinner in July was the first thing that popped into her head and you know how that goes.

Once you accept the premise that everything Sarah Palin says is a lie, then it's easy to see that everything Sarah Palin does is to further Sarah Palin. It has NOTHING to do with benefiting anyone else. Not the people of Alaska and not the people of the United States.

If you want to do something, then vote this woman out of office and never vote her in to any position of authority again. Send her back to her house in Wasilla (which she apparently never left) and let her be a stay at home Mom to her son Trig. He's going to need her now that he's growing up. They still don't know how serious the Down's Syndrome is. Since she's bankrupting the schools, she can home school all of her kids.
