Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's father is taking the 19-year-old father of her grandson to task for not helping to pay for the baby's care.
In the issue of Us Weekly magazine to be released Friday, Chuck Heath says Levi Johnston is capitalizing on national interviews but not spending money on Tripp, the nearly 4-month-old son of Johnston and Bristol Palin, the governor's 18-year-old daughter.
Heath says he wishes Johnston would "take some of this money he's making and buy some diapers with it."
The unemployed Johnston has said he wasn't paid for appearances on national television last week, when he complained the Palin family was limiting his access to Tripp since the couple broke up. A message left at Johnston's Wasilla home wasn't immediately returned.
What is it about these Wasilla people and tabloid magazines?
Have they never heard of any other news outlet than People, Star, or Us magazines?
Well I guess to be fair we do know that the Governor herself often uses her official state website to trash talk her detractors, essentially putting the State of Alaska website in the same category as the National Enquirer. Stay classy Guv.
So on the one hand we have Mr. Heath (who should absolutely know better) accusing Levi of not paying for diapers with all of that money he received from his recent television interviews. And then on the other hand we have Levi saying he earned nothing from his appearances, one of which was on CBS who does not pay for interviews, and the other on Tyra, who said herself that she did not pay Levi for his story.
Well we may not be sure of Levi's honesty, and CBS is always a suspicious source, but Tyra has also said that Levi was not paid. And come on! If we cannot believe Tyra, then who can we believe? I mean she is so fierce!
But let's be real. This accusation is coming from the man who raised Sarah Palin. To lie as often as she does and with such nonchalance you have to have had a pretty good teacher.
Dont'cha think?
Levi is actually still 18 years old. He turns 19 on May 3. He had a job until Sarah blabbed about him.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that early in her life, Sarah learned her disfunctional behavior at home.
Thanks for your blog; I know current events keep you working overtime on it. We appreciate it.
And how much is Chuck Heath expecting Bristol to pay for diapers?
ReplyDeletePs You are right: THE APPLE DOESN'T FALL FAR FROM THE TREE.
The less I hear from Mr. Heath, the better. His comment on the RNC lawyer sent to bring back the campaign clothes that "somehow" ended up in Alaska was something along the lines of "children lose their underwear" - a extremely odd response, and here he is again, going on about diapers.
ReplyDeleteBrrr.. I SINCERELY hope the Palin soap-opera does not get any more poo-smeared than it has.
Gryphen, someone should write a piece on the fashion scandals of Sarah Palin. It would definitely go viral. (Perhaps you should do it!)
ReplyDeleteWe have: GOP clothes scandal, the Arctic Cat billboard jacket scandal, and now with this latest AK senatorial nomination fiasco, a NAUGHTY MONKEY shoe-related scandal.
I don't think that Chuck Heath is an intentional liar. I think that he is a Grizzly Bear Dad trying to protect its young (daughter). The problem is that every time he jumps in to say something that should put his daughter, Sarah, in a favorable light, he always manages to put his foot in his mouth. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't Chuck Heath the source of the "Wild Ride" story in which Sarah, in labor and leaking amnionic fluid, took two planes, plus car ride to deliver an at-risk baby? Heath claims he was present when the baby "popped out." (Sarah said that she had to be induced). He defended Sarah's massive wardrobe problem by explaining that the kids clothes were all mixed in there with the fancy duds, and you know how kids keep losing their underwear. I think that he really wants to help bolster Sarah's image, but it's clear that he has had no PR training. Come to think of it-- since Sarah Palin has become increasingly tone-deaf as to how she looks to the rest of us-- that's what she inherited from Daddy Dear.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, Chuck is giving away that all of the Palins actually DID get paid for their appearances - notwithstanding that 'officially' they are NOT allowed to get ANY $$$ from outside sources, because GINO is a state employee...
ReplyDeleteFirst off, one doesn't get paid to appear on a news show. Travel expenses comped, yes. Paid, no. Also, Great-Gramps Chuck Heath mentioned awhile back that the baby gifts had filled a ROOM of the Palin abode.
ReplyDeleteBut I must concur with you, Gryphen. "Stay classy," is an all-purpose retort to anything coming out of the Palin camp. We know it will be roundly ignored.
I wonder how much Papa Heath got paid by US Weekly? Anyone?
ReplyDeleteYes, Gryphen, the apple (this one is rotten to the core) does not fall far from the tree.
ReplyDeleteLevi is supporting his child just as much--or as little--as Bristol is. As far as we know, she is not in school or working, meaning all of Tripp's diapers, formula, etc. are being paid for by either her family, or the government (welfare, WIC). Levi would help actually care for Tripp--IF they would let him see the child.
But I forgot--Bristol earns her keep by taking care of Trig and Piper while Mom is off "working."
OT here Gryphen--but Dan Savage mentions (albeit briefly) Levi Johnston in his Savage Love column this week. I just wanted to pass that on to you. http://www.thestranger.com/seattle/SavageLove?oid=1395633
ReplyDeleteSo, Chuck (Her Water Broke) Heath goes after a teenage kid in a smarmy magazine article? Stay classy guy.
ReplyDeleteLet's see, in order to receive child support I'm thinking there would need to be a custody agreement, and some DNA might need to be collected as well. You know, all that science nonsense...
Hmm...seems like what we've got here is an old guy looking for a pissing match. Crank up the old prostate Chuck, Levi might shoot one off himself.
Levi's a deadbeat dad?!? Hey, Mr. Heath! Takes one to know one! Sorry. Was that too childish? Okay. How about "Hey, Pot! This is kettle. By the way, you're black!" No? Okay...give me a few minutes....
ReplyDeleteThis kills me! Why would the kid lie? He says they make it hard for him to see his son and they say he won't help and should buy diapers. You never hear the truth anywhere!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone asked and received an answer about what Sarah and Bristol were paid for their People magazine articles. Has anyone asked and received an answer about what Sarah and Bristol have been provided by Fox and Greta? I'm sure they found some "legal" loophole and way to syphon money to one or both....
ReplyDeletejen, my friend, i'm not quite getting this:
ReplyDelete"Levi's a deadbeat dad?!? Hey, Mr. Heath! Takes one to know one!"
chuck heath was a working, married father all throughout his children's' lives. he was a k-12 teacher, a science teacher!
makes you wonder why none of his likely love-of-learning sunk into sarah. and sally raised her a strict catholic -plenty of issues exist with the church's various views, but they don't generally reject, science, scholarship, etc. what the hell happened to sarah to turn her into the person she is now?
Luna 1580: You are absolutely correct. In my lame attempt at humor I completely sunk to an unforgivable low. I'm ever so embarassed.
ReplyDeleteAnd while I am sincere in my regret, I think Mr. Heath's history as a father sort of makes my ill-delivered point. In an odd sort of way. No, Levi does not have a job. No he hasn't graduated high school. But clearly he loves his son. And I'd say he's taking his fight to the same stage Sarah thrust him onto during the campaign.
His affection for his son - as best as I can tell - is likely very similar to that which Mr. Heath carries in his duty-bound heart for his daughter. And like Levi, he's taking HIS fight to the stage his daughter thrust them all onto.
It's interesting that Todd didn't say anything. Maybe there's the idea that from a grandfather, people would find the comment/complaint more credible. And while Mr. Heath is/was likely as stand up man/father, it saddens me a little - an admitted daddy's girl - to see him out there shilling the mud at his great grandbaby's father just to save his daughter and/or his son-in-law the effort.
Again, Luna. I absolutely deserved being called out on that.
I don't know how Mr. Heath expects a person without a HS diploma or a job to support a child.
ReplyDeleteThe moment when Bristol, Levi and their family circle knew that they were becoming parents BEFORE THE DIPLOMA -- didn't they understand the financial reality?
What's meanspirited about Sarah Palin's father statement is that he knows why Levi Johnston doesn't have the means to provide the support that THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE CAN PROVIDE:
he's 18, no diploma and no job.
hey jen! :)
ReplyDeletei wasn't saying that chuck heath's recent remarks don't put him in one of the following categories:
*loving father still trying to save his daughter's reputation and future potential. (even as she begins to push 50, -your kids are your kids until you die.) consciously aiding and abetting SP.
*a dad who loves his daughter and has only been told her side of the story (by her). an honest man misled, but telling the only "truth" he knows (or we've all been mislead and levi's the liar.)
*slightly befuddled old guy just talking, after being manipulated by his daughter SP.
*an outright asshole. (or an outright ruthless asshole.)
-any of the above may yet hold true, including combinations! but he's not a "dead-beat-dad" by any stretch or massage of the facts.
but it's still really odd that he implies levi and fam are out makin' money in the media. either tyra really was lying (but, no motive for her!) of one or more of the above chuck scenarios is in play...
"just-stickin'-to-the-facts luna", singing off for the night.
Luna: I totally got what you were saying. Really! :) I absolutely appreciate your stickin-to-the-facts take. And while I think I do the same, I sometimes get silly in the moment and fail to make my point in a way that shows SOME respect for the facts...even if the subject matter is mighty disfunctional.
ReplyDeleteCan we change your handle to "just-stickin'-to-the-facts luna"? I DIG it! ;) Hugs to you!
