Responding to the missile test by North Korea, Governor Sarah Palin on Monday reaffirmed Alaska’s commitment to protecting America from rogue nation missile attacks.
“I am deeply concerned with North Korea’s development and testing program which has clear potential of impacting Alaska, a sovereign state of the United States, with a potentially nuclear armed warhead,” Governor Palin said.
"I can’t emphasize enough how important it is that we continue to develop and perfect the global missile defense network. Alaska’s strategic location & the system in place here have proven invaluable in defending the nation.”
"Sovereign state of the United States"? Was there some confusion about that? Just for clarification we were the 49th state to be added, right before that upstart Hawaii.
Actually the only time that Alaska has "defended the nation" is during World War 2, which was before we were a "sovereign state of the United States", whatever that means, and to occasionally chase Russian planes out of our air space, but that is really just an excuse for both sides to burn up some jet fuel. If Russia wanted Alaska they would not have sold it for 7.2 million dollars.
It looks like this was just another attempt by Governor Palin to sound presidential and statesmen-like, but sadly her choice of vocabulary undermines the effect.
I seriously doubt the North Koreans tremble at the words of Caribou Barbie.

Much amusement by David Schuster (sitting in for Chris Matthews) Michelle Bernard (Repug. in disguise) tried to stand up for her highness as she always does. They also mentioned many other gaffes GINO has made including showing "the Putin rears his head...." segment from the Katie Couric interview and outrageous Levi comments. All agreed she's just keeping her name out nationally. Barf!

ReplyDeletethe woman is a separatist with strong links to the AIP! she wants AK to be its own country, and that's why she (supposedly) risked her life and trig's life to make the baby a "naturally born" AK citizen.
oh, wait, maybe she put all that behind her when she got the silly notion she could be POTUS someday, now she's "screw AK if it helps me get to washington" sarah. but maybe she has lingering dreams that if the whole 2012 POTUS thing doesn't work out she still might have a chance to rule AK after it leaves the union....

I was just thining about something. Isn't it wrong (unethical? Illegal?) for someone paid by the state to publically defend Palins family matters? I was thinking about Meg Staplrtons statement this week about Levi Johnson this week. Who is Paying her? The state or sarahpac?

Knowing Missy Sarah, it could be no more than just a way to slap the ADN and local media in the face, but I still wonder if money is involved.
And while I am here: I still want to know who built her house and where they got the materials.

And where is Bill McAllister? MIA? Thrown under the bus? Running for his life? Not that I miss him, it's just that he's been so visible issuing presssers like shots from an AK7 (is that a gun?) on everything even hinting at disapproval of his goddess and then suddenly nothing? Inquiring minds want to know. My preference is that he was sacrificed to the volcano to make the Queen of Disasta's image bright and shining and render the peons of the Sovereign State deaf, dumb and obedient.
I don't think she knows what sovereign means. I think she just thinks it sounds erudite. Because it makes no sense in this context.

ReplyDeleteWe have about 38 native tribes here in Arizona. They are considered sovereign nations because they have their own Council and laws for their members.
As far as I know, if you are a "State", you fall under the U.S. laws...
Unless you are planning to secede? Are you guys hiding something from the Lower 48???
I know, it gives me an even greater disgust for these legislators of ours. How can it be that we have the absolute worst legislature in the whole US? As a whole, I mean. There are certainly some decent folks in there, but taken as a group, I'd like to throw them all out and take a do-over.

It's almost like they are making fun of her instead. Remember in How Obama got Elected she quips you CAN see Russia from here, people just need to get over that. She is so clueless. Enigma...I was about to say the same thing...Sarah probably thinks it's a continent. I also agree that since this 2012 thing is really working out, she and WAR are probably going to look into appointing herself Queen of the Sovereign State of Alaska.
ReplyDeleteWhat an idiot..everytime she and all these other ignorant Republicans open their mouths, another Democrat wins an election somewhere. Yesterday morning I was listening to an interview on Howard Stern (before the commments come, please note that Howard is a huge Obama supporter, hated Bush) with Senator Arlen Specter of PA. I don't know what he was trying to accomplish, trying to appeal to indeppendents, Howard's audience, whatever, but he towed the same old tired Rep party line, saying he liked Rush Limbaugh (who Howard HATES), he thought BUSH was smart, etc. This guy was supposed to be a moderate, but with that interview, he managed to turn off any independent and democratic support he may have had. Say goodbye to the Senate, Specter.

ReplyDeleteI heard that Bill McAllister was ill and was sorry to hear that. Question for you, is he really African-American? The fact that he is suppose to be black has been used to defend Sarah from being called a racist because she had no people of color on her staff.
