Hang on kids!
Now there is a wake up call from nature.
Update:
Time: Sunday, April 26, 2009 at 05:50:46 AM at epicenter
Magnitude: 4.0
Location:
28 km (17 miles) NNE (24°) from Sunrise, AK
31 km (19 miles) ESE (106°) from Anchorage, AK
32 km (20 miles) NE (47°) from Hope, AK
It was a fairly small quake, but it sort of hit without the usual foreplay of the rolling tremor effect. All in all a respectful earthquake that may have roused a few sleeping Alaskans.
Is the epicenter close to Mt. Redoubt? Maybe she's getting ready to blow again, you know how the volcano reflects GINO's moods in a eerily sort of way....?
ReplyDeleteDang! I must have sleeping hardcore... I hate to miss a good quake!
ReplyDeleteGryphen,
ReplyDeleteHopefully you have already seen the HuffPo article where Mr.Kalytiak is now backtracking on his decision to let Sherry Johnston leave the State. Who doesn't think the GINO didn't make a phone call. I hope Levi's/Sherrys Attorney calls him on it and proves him a Liar. He seems like one who does not pussyfoot around.

Geek warning!
ReplyDeleteThis quake was near the Eagle River thrust fault which runs down Resurrection Pass from near Seward and across Turnagain Arm. It crosses the Seward Highway near Indian and Falls Creek and you can actually see the fault features and the different rocks on the East and West sides of the fault.
This fault is the area where the Valdez and McHugh portions of the Chugach Terrane meet.
If you have an interest in geology, there is a great book called "Alaska Roadside Geology" that explains the geologic forces that created our state and points out areas where you are able to see those forces at work.
