So here we are on day two of my daughter's stay.
Guest room a mess? Check.
Sleeping til noon? Check.
Disappearing with my car everyday? Check.
Rearranging my life? Double check.
Oh yeah the kid is DEFINITELY back in town!
Am I complaining? Nope, not at all. I am......adjusting.
Right now she is taking the friend she brought up with her ALL over Anchorage and doing the "touristy" thing. Every trip we take together means I have to share some memory of what used to be over there, how crappy the roads used to be, how much things have changed since the pipeline was built, and than hopefully an embarrassing story if i can think of one. (The saddest thing is that I have an embarrassing story about almost everyplace in town!) I do have to admit however that the enthusiasm with which this drivel is received makes it a little better.
Yesterday it was the Saturday Market downtown, today it was the Three Baron's Renaissance Fair, and who knows what tomorrow holds in store.
Then there is the time adjustment. My daughter is a night owl, I the very definition of the early bird. Owls and birds clearly should not share the same nest. When I am finishing my daily running around, she is just getting started. Hence the missing car.
But you know what? I love her. And so as disruptive as she can be, she is still the person who I want to spend my time with most. She is funny, and creative, and full of life. I need a little of that right about now.
Tuesday she and I are going to part deux of the Equal Rights discussion at the Loussac Library. She is bringing her video camera and I am doing me some interviews.
Then we are going to do some hiking up Flattop (my favorite mountain to hike), go to the Moose's Tooth for dinner, sell some of my crap in E-Bay together (I told her I would give her a cut if she helped me), and at some point go back to Shannyn's for a dinner party.
It is going to be another eventful week, and this time my angel will be right there with me.
Life is indeed very good.
Enjoy your little girl Gryphen - but, set some ground rules next week, or the honeymmoon may 'soon be over. Just sayin'. :)
