This is from Bent Alaska (You can visit their website by clicking the title.)
The second round of testimony is on Tuesday, June 16, 5-11 pm. Once again, we want to try to fill Loussac Library with a sea of blue (and don't forget your Equality Works buttons!). You may have already testified, but we still need you to be there in solidarity with those who haven't had a chance. They need to hear you applauding and supporting their bravery just as they did for you.
Please come early! Doors to the Assembly chambers are unlocked at 3 pm, but if you can get there earlier, even better. Bring a book, bring friends, bring your laptop--but be there!
You can bet the Alaska progressive bloggers will be there in force, and this time I have my daughter and her video camera so hopefully I will have some good footage to share in the next couple of days or so.
I think I will stay out of the Assembly chamber itself and instead focus on the crowd, since that is where the action was last time.
By the way this article came out recently which states:
Examples of same-sex behavior can be found in almost all species in the animal kingdom — from worms to frogs to birds — making the practice nearly universal among animals, according to a new review of research on the topic.
In other words being gay is a matter of BIOLOGY, just like I and many others have been saying all along. Once people understand that fact the argument of those on the far Right will fall apart.
It is like hating somebody because of the color of their skin, or their gender, it is something only done by the most ignorant people on the planet......oh.....well maybe we will still have a problem with these morons after all.
I can't help wondering if one of these jerks would give away their son's dog if he exhibited "homosexual" behavior? You know like sniffing a same sex dogs ass or something.
Please, Anchorage, show up and stand in solidarity for equality for ALL!

ReplyDeleteOk, I am going to rat out my dog(s)
My boys, over time, have "humped" female dogs, male dogs, their teddy bears, upholstered pillows and the cat.
The cat was male.
I have a degree in Biochemistry ( undergraduate degree on attempt to become a veterinarian during my forties) and there are many examples of homosexuality in nature. There are fish that can literally change from one sex to another depending on what is needed at the time in the population.
During my American Indian phase when I read everything on American Indians, I read many examples of homosexual males in AI societies. There were likely lesbians but I did not come across that. The gay guys were treated with respect, NOT looked upon as unnatural and were accepted for who and what they were.
Back to dogs: If your male dog tries to hump another dog ( male or female not in heat ) be aware humping is also a "dominance gesture." It is a canine way of saying " I am the boss and you must be submissive to me."
For this reason, it can cause dog fights so dont just sit back and think how cute your boy is being ( OR GIRL FOR THAT MATTER, FEMALES HUMP BOTH SEXES ALSO AS A DOMINENT GESTURE) cause you can end up with some vet bills for stitches if you allow this to go on.
Remember YOU are the Alpha member of the pack and if there is any "dominance" going on it will be you. Keep your dog subordinate to you for good "pack health."
Holy cow. My sister and I drove out from the Valley (we were raised in Anchorage and will always consider it ot be our hometown) to attend the meeting and see this first hand. I was so disappointed at how much those in red outnubered those in blue (we didn't show up until almost 9:30pm though). We listened to tesitimony for over an hour before leaving, not a single person got up to speak in favor of the ordinance during that time. After hearing some of the insanity from those that testified, I don't see why supporters would need to bother weighing in. They pretty much made our case for us.
ReplyDeleteI finally had to leave when someone started reading from Genesis (I waited until his time was up before exiting however, lest I seem rude). I just wanted to stand up and yell, this isn't a theocracy, people! Why are we using the bible as an argument against a city ordinance!?!
