I have already addressed this subject to the point of nausea so I will leave this as an open thread for all of you to weigh in on this subject.

(By the way thanks to commenter MrsTarquinBiscuitBarrel for sending me this link. This would be a lot less fun if I did not have ALL of your wonderful participation.)

Good discussion on the video. I agree about bringing the kids to the convention but they all missed talking about the point that she paraded the kids (all or some of them) at almost every campaign stump speech given thereby exploiting them daily. They appeared in a People mag interview introducing them. Fine. But I've read them comparing and criticizing Obama for doing the same. WTF?? They did I believe one interview as a family on Insider or some entertainment show. The majority of time the kids were at home, in school.

Palin is using this to keep herself relevant in the news cycle. Nothing else on the agenda. Palins are the ones adding words like 'rape' making it sound worse. I also find it too late for Todd to grow a set and play the roll of Daddy. 18 yr old is now a PAID 'celeb' spokeperson. Fair game.

Pics from NY weekend showed daughter carrying baby. Easy to misidentify which pic should air on shows now too along with yankee stadium.

Wouldn't it be a concept if this wasteful piece of flesh did as many interviews whether print, radio or TV on the disaster of the floods or the fuel and food shortage to name a few. That's a job she's getting paid to do but neglects it.

  2. Thank God that creepy Joe S. was not there this morning. This show is so much better without him...can they replace with with Donny Duetsch (is that how it's spelled) permanently? Then I would watch it again. Mika is an idiot.

Props to Donny and Arianna for calling out Sarah's poor choices and for pimping out her children to the media.

When the Clintons were in the White House, I remember a story about how Hilary trained Chelsea early on not to respond to every mean thing that would be said about either of her parents in political life. Somewhere along the way, Sarah and Todd never took that training course.

They have been so emotional in dragging their perceived insults and gripes onto the public scene. We only have to look at the number that Todd did on Wooten. In fact, their combined mean spirited insults about him drew a rebuke from the divorce court judge.

So why would it be any different with Letterman? She balks at going to NY because she doesn't want to boost his ratings? Everytime that she responds to his jokes, she boosts his ratings. People will tune in night after night just to hear the latest zinger. Does she forget how long McCain's cancellation remained a nightly joke?? He still gets a laugh when he mentions Cheney shooting an old guy in the face.

The other sad (pathetic) part of her response is that Letterman is joking. He has been telling nasty, snide jokes for 30 years, about all kinds of famous people. If you want the spotlight, you run the risk of a Letterman joke. Most people (OK, not Cher, Oprah or Madonna) laugh it off no matter what they are thinking inside. It was a joke! Sarah's responses are not jokes; they are the emotional response of someone with the thinnest most sensitive skin in public office. Keep it up, Sarah, Dave is beating Conan thanks to you!

This is off topic but I thought people might be interested in this new video post at radaronline.com - in it Levi Johnston is offered his first movie role and he accepts it (hard to tell if it was a joke offer or a real one) - plus he takes a funny swipe at Bristol's "abstinence is unrealistic" stance which she took one minute and her "abstinence is the answer" policy which she publicized shortly thereafter.

Dave is very clear and gracious in his response to Sarah's allegations - he even invites her on the show.

Huffingtonpost just posted this update - this was Scarah's response to Dave's clarification:

    UPDATE 6.11
Sarah Palin responded Thursday morning to Dave's invitation to appear on his show in a statement to Foxnews.com: ""The Palins have no intention of providing a rating's boost for David Letterman by appearing on his show," the statement read. "Plus, it would be wise to keep Willow away from David Letterman."

Maybe Letterman will sue Palin for slander, libel and defamation of character? He's got a great set of attorneys and has way more $$ than the Palins. Plus he's a lot smarter than she is, and a lot more experienced when it comes to being in the public eye.

GINO's behavior has placed the whole clan under a microscope. The Palins' latest response was more explicit than what Dave said. Everyone knew it was a joke about the daughter who has been on tv and in magazines with her baby. Dave's only mistake was that particular daughter wasn't on that particular trip. He wasn't watching GINO. But he might have seen a photo of a teenage girl in Daisy Duke shorts and just assumed it was the older daughter from afar. GINO seems to like family drama because it has generated lots of publicity for the whole clan distracting GINO's lack of job skills.

  10. So where is the outrage about Palin accusing Letterman of being a pedophile? He's a comedian and tells jokes; she's a politician and this is no joke. I hope he spends the next three years raking her over the coals (carefully). After the vile things she's said, how could he not be out to get her? She's a fool.

This entire farce was totally aimed at raking in money from her base. They all think he made jokes about "raping" Willow. I have not seen any photos of Willow at that game; was she there, or not?

After seeing Sarah Palin and the Dud whine over ever perceived slight or insult, can you imagine how she would act if she was ever actually the president of the Untited States? What's she going to do....turn ever news conference into a pity party about how everyone in the world is treating poor little Sarah and saying mean things about her? She has turned into a tabloid queen...no way will this woman ever be seen as the head of the greatest country on earth.

  12. Sorry...To you all, especially you gals, your politics have gotten in the way of the fact that NO WOMAN OR GIRL..should be insulted with sexual overtones. Whether you are a private person or a public person...whether you are 8, 18, 28 years old. We have fought too long to not be treated like this. When was the last time you heard a man make these type of sexual degrading remarks about any woman on TV?
Even though I have different opinions then you all do, I would be first in line to defend you against this type of public treatment. PLEASE...YOU DON'T HAVE TO DEFEND SARAH...BUT, PLEASE DON'T LET ANYONE INSULT WOMAN LIKE THIS AND SAY NOTHING OR EVEN WORSE DEFEND IT.

Re JuJu I understand where you're coming from. However, I don't think males escape this sort of talk. Don't you remember the endless jokes about Larry Craig, Mark Foley, Senator Edwards, President Clinton....and the list goes on and on. In our quest for equal rights, we also got the right to be treated just like a man. JMO

Actually, JuJu, Letterman's top ten list had nothing to do with insulting women, with the exception of the slutty flight attendant look. But, he was making fun of Sarah's propensity for being overly madeup (I'm ready for my closeup!), and tourists in NY going shopping (it didn't have to be Bloomingdales, it could have been Saks or Macy's too). The other jokes were jabs at ARod and Spitzer womanizing. I am a long time Letterman fan and he does not degrade women. The jokes were meant for Sarah, not all women. Get over it!

The irony is this woman Palin made rape victims pay for the rape test kits. I hope the people who had to pay for their own kits stage a protest--where was she when there was an actual rape?

    ReplyDelete
  17. juju: Sorry but Dave Letterman is a comic. He insults EVERYONE (remember Don Rickles). By all means he should never ever apologize for what he said. He did NOT mention "rape" (Sarah did) and obviously the reference to being "knocked up" was to Bristol "knocked up" Palin and not Willow.
She's really backed into it this time. Letterman is not going to bow down to this idiot and his ratings will go through the roof as he takes her apart one line at a time.
And First Dud better shut up. He hasn't been an even adequate father that I can see so he has no reason to ride in on a white horse to defend his womenfolk.
Sarah Palin chose to exploit her children in public and you cannot pick and choose where your attention comes from. If she had shut her mouth and let it go, it would be over now and probably forgotten by most people.
Letterman insults everyone - so what? He racked McCain over the coals and McCain suffered through it and came out looking better than he did with her.
She's playing to her base and trying to raise money. That's all she's doing. I don't agree with insulting women, but for heaven's sake, don't twist everything into an insult just to attempt to prove an argument. She's using this for money. How is she any better?
    She's fair game.
Letterman won't bow down to her.
He did not say the things she said. She's only made herself look even worse than normal.

Juju, where have you been for the last 8 years with all the insults to women from Rushbo to women like Hillary, for example? Why so silent about that? Poll all of your friends at maeT haraS and Crazies4P about that, please!

  19. Hmmm, so "juju" with all the caps in your comment--are you saying this joke by David Letterman is unprecedented? really?!? When I think of all the insulting and degrading comments made by Sarah Palin in the presidential campaign, I can't understand all this outrage of yours and hers. A friend of mine once pointed out to me that the people who are most offensive and insensitive to others are the ones with the thinnest skin. And "NO WOMAN OR GIRL"?? Do you mean Anna Nicole Smith and all those people you can read about in People Magazine (the Palin magazine of choice for releasing family information to the publc). And how about all the insults with sexual overtones" against Bill Clinton or Eliot Spitzer or that Republican senator in the bathroom stall in Minnesota? All I can say is, "I disagree with you completely". Real equality is when women can take the knocks just like the men.

Sarah Palin is the most juvenile 45 year-old woman in America.

It's amazing how similar her behavior is to a Junior High School girl.

  21. She's handed the golden opportunity to appear on national TV and she turns it down. What great political instincts - not!

  22. JuJu, I'm sorry, but I find Palin's blatantly sexual behavior an insult to women. Ditto Bristol's behavior. Sarah acts and dresses sexually, then pretends to be all insulted when someone calls her on it. If you don't want to be called slutty, don't dress and behave that way. And if you don't want your daughter to be a joke, don't push her to take a job for which she gets PAID to trot her illegitimate baby around the celebrity circuit while advocating abstinence. Bristol is fair game (although I still think the joke was in bad taste).

And did you catch Palin's press release? Once again she's trying to divide America into "us" and "them"--the elite of NY/Hollywood vs. "real" Americans. The woman is a cancer.

There are hundreds of blogs, children support blogs, women rights blogs, liberal blogs, etc. They are out in full force sending letters to sponsors, making calls to Letterman's sponsors. This is not a dead issue yet. Numerous on line polls...running in the 80% to 90% against Letterman. I think I am on the right side of this. I would take this same position for any woman. This is not a political issue it is a woman's issue. All woman should support this.

You never protested Rush L. in the past 8 years; you didn't protest John McCain when he laughed when one of his fans called Hillary a "B&%ch"; and you didn't protest Sarah when she laughed at the horrible comment made about Lyda Green on the radio, did you?????

GINO nor the First Dud have the grey matter to be interviewed by Letterman. Talk about entertainment of the year. She really is stupid if she thinks by not accepting his invitation she is hurting his ratings. God what an ego that woman has!

Don't miss this excellent article by Robert Elisberg on Huff Post today about Sweet Sarah and Beautiful Bristol. I think it is one of the best, if not the best on how she has used her family as stage props to further her own political interests. And obviously Bristol is as clueless as her mother as to what it is to be a good mother. You know, one who looks out for the best interest of their children.

The American Family Assoc. has me on their e-mail list (sigh). They are now saying that Letterman's jokes about Palin are an attack on Christians.
'It is time for the Christian-bashing to stop. And make no mistake, that is what is going on here. "
They are using this hoopla to raise money:
'Thank you for caring enough to get involved. If you feel our efforts are worthy of support, would you consider making a small tax-deductible contribution to help us continue?"
I wonder where the donations go? I am so tired of the fake outrage - nobody mentioned "rape" except the Palins. Bad jokes, yes. Offensive jokes, yes. Letterman apologized (he should never offend a narcissist, it is dangerous). But now a couple bad jokes become fodder for Palin's pity party and for the Fundie Christian fundraising.

  28. "obviously the reference to being "knocked up" was to Bristol "knocked up" Palin and not Willow."

I'm sure Letterman meant it that way, but possibly Sarah knows something about Willow that makes her sensitive on the issue. We don't know that Willow's NOT pregnant- and out-of-wedlock pregnancies seem to be a family tradition- it's possible Sarah's trying to head off another scandal and going about it all wrong, of course. Or maybe Willow IS a slut.

Sarah is saying a 62 year old man is a pervert, like a pedophile. Todd came right out and said the joke was about raping his 14 year old daughter. They lie and think nothing of anything but their dumb spin. Why are they doing this dumb distraction?

It turns out that the female at the game was as old as Sarah, there is not one picture of a teen daughter at the stadium. Sarah loves confusing matters and and she will get miles out of this. She doesn't care that she is connecting her children to the word rape, Todd would not have used that word without her permission. They just want the people that hear the words pervert, rape, 14 year old and 62 year old.

why do you all even respond to juju? the woman is wacko! her interpretaion, the way she views things...........its very off base! don't waste your time with her. What a joke .........juju doesn't see that all of America is laughing at Sarah Palin and think she is an idiot. I am a woman and pro woman rights, and sarah is the OPPOSITE of a female role model. what juju and sarah and friends don't realize, is that they are making all this worse.........sarah says mainstream america doesn't like things like this. screw her. she does NOT represent mainstream America. She represents fringe crazy right wing America, the racist and the nutso! they are also doing this to take the attention of all the stories about the Holocaust killer who was a HUGE Sarah Palin fan. Notice how Sarah does that all the time??

  31. I have an absolutely BRILLIANT idea that should significantly counter any of the Palinista schemes -- as carefully outlined by our "friend" juju -- to spam CBS or Letterman's sponsors with their hateful threats on behalf of their Queen Bee leader.

Turn on your televisions to CBS tonight. Doesn't matter, just so long as it's before the Letterman show is on; doesn't matter if you turn the sound down.

Let's do this every week night for as long as we can remember -- we're "watching" David Letterman in support -- not of his questionable humor, but in support of his right to skewer any and all politicians.

I just heard some talking heads on CNN. It was all about parsing Letterman jokes. Not one word about did Todd cross the line by inferring a rape joke and Sarah wrapping that thought with pervert (pedophile).

Letterman is a late night comic host. Palin is a public servant and in a State leadership role while trying to be taken serious at the national level. Whose words need the most parsing?

No actually this is all about money. That is all SP is all about, money. She uses her kids to pander around. She puts them on the stage.

She's afraid to go on Letterman. And juju, good luck on that Letterman advertising boycott. Speaking for myself, the idea that the C4Pers can get Letterman off the air is hilarious.

The only reason SP refused to come on the show is that an eggplant is more entertaining and intelligent and she knows she'd look as unimpressive as she actually is.

Letterman will be around l-o-n-g after SP rides off into her wilderness.

Sarah is to be on the Today Show Friday, speaking from trans Texas. Today is the same show where Matt said her grandson was out cold. Part of the reason people get so mixed up about which baby and is it Willow or Bristol is because the media doesn't do their job. It gets confusing when you only hear Palinteam talking points. Do you think she'll have Todd retract what he said about rape? Will she continue to insist it's about a 62 year old pervert and a 14 year old girl?

    Bring on the feud Sarah.

    ReplyDelete
  35. "She doesn't care that she is connecting her children to the word rape"

Well, all she actually said was that Willow shouldn't go near him. I don't think she's a very aware mom, but even Sarah might notice if Letterman were at risk of being sexually assaulted by her teenager. And Letterman basically seems like a nice guy who shouldn't have to deal with slutty teenagers.

What's REALLY insulting to women is anyone, especially a man, taking away a woman's right to choose, epecially IF she has been raped.

I didn't find Letterman insulting one bit. He never mentioned the word "rape." I've been "knocked-up" twice by my husband and am damn proud of it.

Palin just likes to create drama, as others have stated, for pity.....and money.

    Onejrkitty here:

If a woman "abuses" her makeup and comes out looking like a slutty person, it is NOT sexist to comment that her makeup makes her look like a slutty person.

You would do it to a man because men don't wear makup, unless, of course, they are gay. You could do it to a gay man. IF YOU DID, WOULD THAT BE SEXIST lol

Look people in my 65 years I have broken a lot and I mean a lot of trail for women's rights, and I did most of it before there was a women's movement. Not patting myself on the head but you need to know my remarks are coming form someone who has actually lived through what to most of you is something yourmother or grandmother went through. (When I was a commercial bush pilot here, ( 1982) I was only one of 5 women in the state who "charged for our services." My male friends used to make lots of jokes about "bush" pilots and "doing it for money" but they also supported and protected me from the real assholes.

Not every remark, good or bad, about a woman is "sexist" because it could ONLY be made about a woman. Sometimes, it is ONLY "aimed" at women because it is a gender specific issue.

WOMEN GET KNOCKED UP. MEN DO NOT GET KNOCKED UP. THEY DO THE KNOCKING. SO IT IS NOT "SEXIST" TO MAKE A JOKE ABOUT A WOMAN GETTING KNOCKED UP.

Neither the Spitzer nor the Rodriguez jokes were "ugly." They were aimed just as much at the men, maybe more so, than at the THE MOST WELL KNOWN KNOCKED UP TEENAGER IN AMERICA.

Funny story: I quit my job at the Pacific Fire Rating Bureau in San Francisco after my crewcut bowtied boss told me I needed to wear a girdle (I was very slim at the time and did not need one) and that he just a raise because he had this brillant idea that he could send me to school with the male building inspectors so that I could do their paper work & since I worked at far less than they did, it would save the company money. I went to lunch and sent word back that I quit and was going to see "Bonnie and Clyde." Drenched the heating vents with Patchouli oil that night after work since I still had my keys-- my co-workerks told me they got the next day off cause the place smelled LOL LOL LOL

    google Todd Palin, rape.
    Here is his quote.
“Any ‘jokes’ about raping my 14-year-old are despicable. Alaskans know it and I believe the rest of the world knows it, too.” - Todd Palin

Letterman didn't tell a rape joke. Todd brought that up. Sarah now is indoctrinating by repeating "statutory rape"

It is wrong in every way to align a professional who is doing his job with statutory rape and all they are saying about this. Every joke Letterman tells doesn't have to be a good one, and comedians do show bad taste from time to time. John Zeigler and others will continue to point out what they want to portray so that the Palins won't have to continue to be in the fray. This is very purposeful and orchestrated on the Palins part. They want people to only remember that Letterman told a rape joke about a 14 year old, that it did not happen does not matter to them. They want to control him and/or destroy him. They need this to make money so they can have more power for their energy projects. They really don't want the conversation to be about Exxon or any of those shenanigans. California had similar political maneuverings with energy and Enron. Rock star politicians are players in both situations.

    Willow's birthdate is 1/21/94. Palin's 14-year old daughter is 15-1/2 years old.

I find Letterman old-school, and his repetition of phrases emphasizes his age. But will he start tossing in Palin zingers, without touching one of her children ever again? Oh, yes, and I'm going to watch. On line, like a human.
