Bad news gang! This Palin apologist has figured out why we all keep going after Sarah Palin. Yep the jig is up.

On any given day, like the regularity of the Sun rising or setting, you can expect Maureen Dowd of The New York Times to hurl even more insults at a woman she has relentlessly assailed for almost a year. Why? If -- as Dowd and other attackers on the left maintain -- Palin is inconsequential, ignorant, untalented, and part of the unwashed masses, why not just let her recede into history? Why the constant attacks?

Oh I know this one! Because she gives intelligent successful women a bad name by constantly presenting herself as an empty headed, vacuous, failed beauty queen who relies on her rapidly fading good looks and rehashed Republican talking points to excite the low hanging fruit of the remaining GOP base to support her regardless of how amazingly incompetent she is? Am I right? Did I pass?

As to why Vanity Fair and other liberal outlets go after her, the answer is quite simple: money. With uncounted thousands from the left who equally hate Palin, Vanity Fair and the other outlets understand -- especially in a bad economy with declining circulation -- that there is gold to be mined from the fragile minds of those who hate. For them, this is the story that keeps giving. And as long as the uncounted haters from the left continue to froth at the mouth at the very mention of Palin, Vanity Fair, Keith Olbermann, and others, will feed the beast for ratings and revenue.

Oh so I am not right? It is all about ratings? Really?

Fine. I get that. But why Dowd and the feminists? With regard to The New York Timescolumnist, I asked a female friend of mine who happens to be a psychologist, what might prompt the anger? She mentioned a host of possibilities, but settled on one theory. That being that Dowd "may be threatened or envious of Palin... or both. As an aging but still attractive woman, Dowd may resent Palin's good looks. Further, as a single woman of a certain age, she may be envious that Palin has a husband, a family, and has carved out an accomplished political career."

Hang on I just threw up in my mouth a little. Okay I am back. Jealousy? This moron actually believes that it is jealousy that makes women dislike Palin? What are we in high school now?

With regard to why Purdum, David Letterman, and other liberal males continually go after Palin, the answer might be as easy as they secretly lust after her while also seeing her as the "girlfriend of the quarterback" they could never get in high school. Seriously, look at the "men" who belittle Palin on a regular basis. For the most part, they fit the description of "the pencil-neck geek" from high school. Are they now trying to make Palin pay for their long-ago inadequacies? Is that why Letterman imagines her now as a "Slutty Flight Attendant?" Because she is his fantasy and rather than admit it, he strikes out at her?

Well good thing I didn't bother to brush my teeth in between these two paragraphs. First jealousy and now unrequited lust? Seriously?

Here let me help Mr. MacKinnon out a little.

You are an idiot!

Women do not dislike Sarah Palin because of her looks. If anything they are upset that she is trying to attain the highest political office in the country JUST on her looks. And equally frightened at how many uneducated GOP mouth breathers actually support her in that endeavor.

And as for men being against her because they consider her hot yet unattainable, then why do men pay so much to be teased by porn? Isn't that the same concept? Do men write scathing articles about Jenna Jameson because she shows them her boobs but won't let any of her fans touch them? No, they don't.

The facts are that these men recognize what the less intelligent do not. Palin is covering up her lack of intelligence and ability with a trough full of makeup (Her words), tight fitting clothing, and "come fuck me" pumps. To those of us who recognize when somebody is trying to manipulate us that is insulting.

Sarah Palin may be the least qualified politician to seek the office of presidency since.....well since George W. Bush. And since against all logic Bush actually succeeded in getting into the White House THAT is reason enough not to simply ignore Sarah Palin.

And personally, as an Alaskan, I continue to focus on Sarah Palin because she is an absolute nightmare for us. She appoints unqualified yes men to very important positions, mismanages our finances, and lies to us at every turn. We want her gone as soon as humanly possible. NOT because of her looks, or her success, or her political points of view, but because she simply CANNOT do the freaking job!

And I have to believe that if Douglas MacKinnon were living up here with us that he would rapidly drop his support of Palin and work his ass off to get her away form the office of Governor just as quickly as he could.

After all it is easy to make excuses for the captain of a ship when you aren't standing on the deck watching it veer directly toward a giant iceberg.

    It's simple:
Palin defenders have no concept of reality. They live in a fantasy world.

Moderate people - the majority - do not fall for this tripe. It is insulting to women to disregard the intelligent, fact-based, reasonable questions about the Gov. with the word ENVY.

I think it's a rather old ploy as well.

When you read comments or articles favorable to the Gov. how many times do you read the word beauty, beautiful, etc.?

It's sexism to reduce questioning of the Gov. to envy & it's sexism to tout her "beauty"

Thanks for the GREAT post Gryphen!

Not to mention that many of Palin's male supporters see her more or less that way-- indeed, I think that's a big part of the reason why some of them support her, because she's hot.

  4. Gryphen, You have a situation in Alaska which is similar to our Alberta situation. There's so much wealth under the ground that it will allow any moron to succeed in politics. It's never going to be a measure of the quality of the politician which is important, it's going to be the politician's priorities.

But I'll point out a difference between Alberta and Alaska for you. In Alberta there aren't people living on the verge of starvation or without adequate healthcare or without any of the other social necessities of living a decent life. In Alaska there are all of the above and it's scandalous and outrageous what has been allowed to take place with the people of Emmonak, for one instance.

Now that's what's wrong with Palin and that's what's wrong with U.S. politics in general. So regarding Palin's other faults, there's a good possibility that she will have learned to handle herself much better before the 2012 election. That could make her very electable in Alaska. It's sad to say Gryphen, but there are enough people in Alaska I'm thinking, to be accepting of Palin and the rabid right policies she espouses.

Do 'you' understand how you have to change in order to surely and finally put Palin in her place? I'm thinking maybe 'you' do understand and now your job is to make your fellow Americans understand.

Obama has given you all a good start and good direction but I fear that it is dying on the vine. Obama's political asssaving priorities are becoming more important that what were his ideals when he started his campaign for pres.

The sad thing is we as Alaskans should be taking a stronger stand. We too are enablers. I am willing to head a recall effort, but I am unable to find two other people who will join me. I understand that she has alot of entertainment value but she is mismanaging our state, and we are allowing her. The most recent issue is todaying firing of the Health and Human Services employee, it's ridiculous and must stop. If there is any Alaskan that is willing to stand up with me - Please email me, we have to take a stand - talk to your friends, you can give them my email address. I am fed up and we need to start the recall process.

it's part of her disorder (NPD) to believe everyone who criticizes her is jealous of her...and the others want her.

It couldn't possibly be her failed governing, non-stop lies, or secessionst KKK ties. Oh, no.

I'll take the pencil-neck geeks over Palin anyday. They can engage in stimulating conversation, and a lot of them have more money than Palin can ever dream of. LMAO.

They imagine Palin as that "type" of flight attendant because that's how she dresses. My mom always told me, as I told my daughter, that there are some things that LADIES jst don't do i they want to be considered respectable.

Palin is Letterman's fantasy? This fool doesn't even know what he's talking about. If Letterman has the hots for Palin he wouldn't be attacking her maniplative, grifting @$$.

Go back to the drawing board, McKinnon, and take Ziegler and the rest of the Palinistas with you.

    Your grade on this project=F+

You have the most AWESOME posts! This is definitely worth linking to. Thanks for doing the dirty work I can't stand doing.
I still follow the news on her and pay attention, but I just can't stomach her that much, so thanks.

  9. Grythen, CNN is reporting that SP will announce that she won't run for reelection for Governor today. I don't think she has made the announcement yet, but this is what they say they were told she was going to say, or has said.
So is she running for President?

Palin stepping down as governor in a couple of weeks. Mudflats data connection down. WOW!!

  11. It appears that she has said to her associates that she won't run for reelection in order to free her up for a National bid for the Preidency. I hope that is just speculation, but I fully expect her to run.

  14. This is so cool.
Women do hate her (myself included). Women have fought long and hard, taken jobs at less pay, given up careers to raise families and put up with creeps and sexual harrassment, to have this BIMBO come along and do soft porn to become Gov of the Far North.

She is an idiot. She is embarrassing to ALL intelligent and educated women and she is mentally ill. To promote herself, she trades ONLY on her good looks because it is all she has.

She has no intelligence. She has no class and she is a congenital liar. She gives all women a bad name and she drags us down.

She does not represent anything we have stood for, stand for, or have worked for. Women are much more than a high school bimbo who wears red shoes. Like men, we wish to be recognized for who we are and the things we have accomplished.

We do not lie our way through life.

I believe there is something HUGE coming at her. I don't pretend to know what it is - but she is now her own ice floe...heading out to sink.

I'd say that I wish her well. The only thing I can say in all honesty is that I'm glad she's going away. It's about time.

This post had just appeared as I was leaving for work this morning. I wanted to write about how I thought that with both this article in the conservative-leaning Washington Times, and with the "In Alaska, many pine for the old Palin" article in the conservative-leaning Christian Science Monitor, taken together with conservative commentators Charles Krauthammer and Jonah Goldberg almost simultaneously writing that Sarah Palin should "go home, shut up, and study" that conservatives who would be for Palin if she just didn't act like Palin were reaching a 'tipping point' of opposition.

Now, I come home and find things have tipped much sooner than I expected and I'm looking forward to catching up on my reading.
