Palin posts on Facebook.

On this Independence Day, I am so very proud of all those who have chosen to serve our great nation and I honor their selflessness and the sacrifices of their families, too.

If I may, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the last 24 hours and share my thoughts with you.

First, I want to thank you for your support and hard work on the values we share. Those values led me to the decision my family and I made. Yesterday, my family and I announced a decision that is in Alaska’s best interest and it always feels good to do what is right. (Gee we in Alaska have been waiting for you to "do what's right" for almost two years now.)We have accomplished more during this one term than most governors do in two (?) – and I am proud of the great team that helped to build these wonderful successes. Energy independence and national security, fiscal restraint, smaller government, and local control have been my priorities and will remain my priorities. (I would just like to point out that not ONE of those priorities have been accomplished.)

For months now, I have consulted with friends and family, and with the Lieutenant Governor, about what is best for our wonderful state. I even made a few administrative changes over that course in time in preparation for yesterday. (I call bullshit on this. My sources say that NOBODY knew this was coming.)We have accomplished so much and there’s much more to do, but my family and I determined after prayerful consideration that sacrificing my title helps Alaska most. (Finally! We can agree on something.) And once I decided not to run for re-election, my decision was that much easier – I’ve never been one to waste time or resources. Those who know me know this is the right decision and obvious decision at that, including Senator John McCain. I thank him for his kind, insightful comments. (She consulted McCain? Has anybody interviewed him about this yet?)

The response in the main stream media has been most predictable, ironic, and as always, detached from the lives of ordinary Americans who are sick of the “politics of personal destruction”. (The fact that she expected a different response from the media after this bizarre and unexpected announcement shows that SHE is the one "that is detached from the lives of ordinary citizens". I mean how ELSE did she think they would respond?) How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it’s about country. And though it's honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term (Who is she talking about here?), of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make. But every American understands what it takes to make a decision because it’s right for all, including your family.

I shared with you yesterday my heartfelt and candid reasons for this change; I’ve never thought I needed a title before one’s name to forge progress in America. I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint. (I have no idea how she believes she can be MORE successful in these endeavors as a private citizen when she was unable to do much about them as a Governor.) I hope you will join me. Now is the time to rebuild and help our nation achieve greatness! (Look out nation Sarah Palin is going to "help" you.)

God bless you! And I look forward to making a difference – with you!

Sarah

Well that was just about as rambling and full of "word salad" as her lake front speech yesterday. Palin seems to be under the assumption that she can DO more in another capacity then she could as an elected official.

Now who has she come into contact with that she feels has more power than the Governor of this state? What position can have a bigger impact then a person elected to such a high office? Who does she feel has been more powerful and persuasive then she ever was while running Alaska, yet is not a politician?

Oh...my....God!!

I think she wants to be a BLOGGER! NOOOOO!!!!!!

"I hope you will join me."

This is the official invitation to join the Palin Independence Party...or to at least contribute to Palin Financial Independence.

  2. We've been saying it all along. It's all about HER. Rambling, incoherent - disjointed, nonsensical, Sarah Palin madness.

Face it, she's batsh*t crazy as are her buddies. So....who's keeping the money????

And what about that house that Sarah built?

    The IRS?
    CREW?

    Embezzlement???

And where were Bristol and Willow?

And Sarah...what about the tell all book that Levi is shopping now?

And why does our nation need rebuilding??? The only one who tried to trash it was her?

OK she got me - on fiscal restraint. That is NOT what I think of when I think of her.

She's an abysmal failure and a total quitter. The prom queen ... yeah right.

Gryphen, if you go to the CNN political ticker, there is a statement by McCain. He didn't say much.
Her recent tweet said: Palin's recent tweet: Funny! In the words of my sis:Aren't the same ones w/fake twitter sites & blogs crying "she's 'abandoning' us" the same ones wishing u gone?

The woman is incredibly bitter and angry. Basically she is saying in all of her messages that it is the medias fault, the bloggers fault, and the lefts fault. Everyone has persecuted her and she just can't stand it anymore and so she is leaving to pursue something else. What is truly sickening is how she talks about what a great job she did. And the C For P messages are enough to make you vomit. They honestly think it is ok to QUIT your office in mid term?? It isn't ok. It doesn't matter what people say about you. Obama gets it worse than she does.

God I can't stand her, and want her to be gone. Please FBI, take her away in handcuffs.

I am starting to think the guy/gal who writes here who says he knows it is the sex videos is right. It sounds like she is mad at the Republicans too. Maybe they told her she was an embarrassment and blackmailed her into leaving like this person said. I want to know!!

Look out Alaska, she's on the loose.

  9. Reuters Press Release- Sarah says the "allegations by Shannyn Moore" are incorrect and that they will be take legal actions this week for defamation.

    It is getting more crazy

and now she is threatening to sue Alaksan blogger Shannon Moore for defaming her with the "housegate" info.

She really has no concept of freedom of speech.

She is a scary person. I guess this is what her legal "defense" fund was for-- so she could go after private citizens and harrass them for speaking their opinions.

She calls herself a patriot? What constitution and Bill of Rights did she read in school?

oh, right. She can't read. Of course.

I don't think he was consulted in advance. I think she's referring to some "insightful comments" McCain made in support of her decision after he found out about it.

  12. She claims to have consulted with family, friends, and Parnell for "months?" Ha--Parnell said he found out Wednesday night. And that he was surprised, just like the rest of America!

Oops; another lie that is easily proven.

    http://briefingroom.thehill.com/2009/07/04/palin-had-made-up-mind-as-early-as-wednesday/

If she really consulted McCain, could there have been pressure on her from the GOP, as the anon. on here mentioned earlier?

  13. No, she doesn't want to be a blogger.

She wants her own show on Faux News. After all, Huckleberry got one. She wants to be Rush, be Bill O'Reilly, be Sean Hannity, be...Anne Coulter. She just doesn't realize that those people, warped and twisted as they are, have brains. They can string together a coherent sentence. Can you imagine Palin trying to talk for an hour...unscripted?

The irony in all of this is that Palin *says* she's stepping down for the good of all Alaskans when she's *really* doing it for herself (for what reason we don't know yet) but in fact the reality is it *will* be for the good of all Alaskans. In fact the entire United States and even the World will benefit. Now that's irony.

  17. Hmmm... from MSN - Van Fleist is threatening..
    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31737517/ns/politics-more_politics

To the extent several websites, most notably liberal Alaska blogger Shannyn Moore, are now claiming as 'fact' that Governor Palin resigned because she is 'under federal investigation' for embezzlement or other criminal wrongdoing, we will be exploring legal options this week to address such defamation," Van Flein said in a statement. "This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law."

But curious he didn't outright deny the assertion. I think the proper response from one is innocent wuld have been, "To those who say that the Palins are under federal investigation, that assertion is unequivocably false."

Me thinks they doth protest too much and perhaps indeed a deal woth cut.

    curiouser and curiouser...

  19. What’s this line about “sacrificing my title?” TITLE? Does she think she’s still in the Miss Alaska pageant? And there she goes again, trying to pretend she’s been governor for a full term rather than a little over two years.

Why is she always going on about “national security?” She's a governor! What has she done, exactly? Does she count flapping her mouth about “big missiles” and “little missiles”? I love this line: she’s “left for a higher calling.” WTF? Is she going to be a minister or something? The “others” she’s referring to is our President; I’ve seen this line at the P-Zoo and left in comments—“The One Who Must Be Obeyed resigned his senate seat, remember?” Then there’s more whining: poor me, I’m held to a different standard. A typical Sarahese slaughter of the English language “I needed a title before one’s name”. More bumper sticker sound bites about forging progress and advancing the country. The obligatory swipe at the media as well as at other governors (not wise, Sarah), and more of her divisive “ordinary Americans” crap.

God, when will she just GO AWAY?

  20. She is setting the stage for a future job announcement. I'd put even money on some kind of PR job for Exxon pushing forward AGIA, but that move would be more closely scrutinized than her political career. Good odds on a spot at FOX or director of something related to special olympics, too. Just my two centavos into the prediction bucket.

Gryphen, that's it. GINO wants to be GOD. GINO is like the fisherman's wife in the tale of the magic fish with the power to grant any wish. The story goes that the woman kept upping the ante on her wishes, but was never satisfied.

First she wanted a new home, the wish was granted, but she wasn't satisfied (Palin parallel: Wasilla home).

Then she wanted a palace and to be crowned king. (Palin parallel: Governor's office/mansion). The wish was granted, but she still wasn't satisfied. Then emperor, then pope, and finally....GOD.

So when she requested to be like GOD, the fish gave up and sent her back to her original hovel, where she spent the remainder of her days.

Could this be where GINO is headed as well? Things that make you go "Hmmm..."

Gryphen, what about this release from the FBI guy here in Anchorage saying that they aren't investigating her? Have you ever heard of the FBI quashing a rumor before? Have they done anything to quash rumors about Don Young or Ben Stevens? This just seems weird to me. Like everything else about Sarah's resignation.

  25. Did anyone read this http://www.conservatives4palin.com/2009/07/statement-from-gov-palins-legal-counsel.html
at C4Pee? It's a statement from Palin's legal counsel that says the 'iceberg' rumors (if they related to a federal investigation of any sort, and in particular the Wasilla Sport Complex/Palin house, are false, and that they are exploring a 'defamation' suit or something like that, of Shannyn Moore. I don't know what to believe anymore, except that Sarah Palin is not right in the head and needs to be away from politics, period.

She comes out with that rambling nonreason for quitting and then is shocked and horrified when the press speculates about what she's up to? I'm not sure what she expected them to print--there was nothing in that babble that a reporter could grab on to as a reason. I loved the part where she supposedly asked her kids, "Want me to make a positive difference and fight for ALL our children's future from OUTSIDE the Governor's office?" If she did indeed ask them that, rather than answer, "Hell yes!" I suspect they looked at each other and said, "WTF does that mean?"

And I love her lawyer's threatening letter. Before, it was mainly commentators who were quoting Shannyn's "rumor." Now all the news articles are gleefully running the lawyer's letter, complete with it's reference to a looming federal indictment. Thanks to Sarah, they don't have to quote anyone but her lawyer!

  28. Which other elected official resigned his/her position for a "higher calling," as SP says hers is? Richard Nixon resigned as President because of Watergate, and Spiro Agnew as his Veep because of financial improprieties. Ummmm, who else?

Spookily, the only name that springs to mind is former member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisor Dan White, who quit the Board because he didn't feel he was making enough money to sustain his family of three. Then he decided he wanted his job back. And when Mayor George Moscone said nope, a decision's a decision, White shot and killed him and Supervisor Harvey Milk.

What if SP decides that she wants her job back? July 26 is an eon away for someone as impulsive and unhinged as SP. What is the precedent? What is the law? So few governors, senators, members of Congress, etc., have resigned mid-term (as opposed to declining to run again, or running and being defeated), that as so much that GINO has done, I can't think of any other parallel situation.

The Dan White story is burned into my brainpan even without Gus Van Sant's fine movie because I was living and working in the Bay Area when White murdered Milk and Moscone. That was our local tragedy that people have not forgotten. I really don't want SP's comet-like flash across the sky to end worse that it already is, but the story's nowhere near over...

Yes, this statement has backfired, per Palin's usual attempts. Any time someone's lawyer is their mouthpiece, we get into some level of "criminal" branding from a PR perspective. Now Palin is in so much legal trouble that "Van Flein" is her PR person? On the Fourth of July no less? That's kind of Robert Blake, O.J., Phil Spector-ish.

It also makes the rumor look true.

  33. Sarah is going to sue now? Geeee, maybe it's time for President Obama to sue her for saying he was palling around with terrorists as if it was fact! And then there's the twerps who support her who to this say President Obama was not born in America and have all the "proof" they need to prove it!

What an a-hole she is. If she sues any blogger for questioning her past or for guessing why she quit, then she needs to be prepared for the bloggers to raise more money for defense than Sarah herself could ever dream of getting!
