She took a forum, Facebook, more commonly used by kids hooking up and cyberstalking, and with one catchy phrase, several footnotes and a zesty disregard for facts, managed to hijack the health care debate from Mr. Obama.
Sarahcuda knows, from her brush with Barry on the campaign trail, that he is vulnerable on matters that demand a visceral and muscular response rather than a logical and book-learned one. Mr. Obama was charming and informed at his town hall in Montana on Friday, but he’s going to need some sustained passion, a clear plan and a narrative as gripping as Palin’s I-see-dead-people scenario. (You know the drill, just click the title to read the rest of Maureen Dowd's column.)
I have often been told by well meaning visitors that by giving attention to Sarah Palin I, and the MSM, are giving her credibility that she does not deserve.
I completely agree that she does not deserve ANY credibility, but I am well aware that if those of us on the right side of these issues did not take Palin to task that she would continue to spew her lies without correction.
You see she has direct access to her minions through Facebook (you know without the filter of that "gotcha" media), where she is free to make up whatever damn thing she wants and they simply accept it as fact. Then they disseminate that information as if it were found engraved on a stone tablet from the top of Mt. Sinai.
Though Sarah is lacking in any real depth of intelligence, she is communicating directly with others of low IQ and easily fanned hatred. They are the ones who show up at town halls with manufactured signs and minds already made up. They are the ones who show up outside the Anchorage Assembly with red shirts and black hearts.
If we do not confront this kind of disinformation and hate mongering there is a very real danger that it will rip our country apart.
I am so glad you tell the truth and call her on her lies! My issue is when the MSM doesnt do that. Forget Fox, they are a sick influence in our country. CNN is often the worst culprit. Last week I never heard them once question whether she was the one writing those posts! How crazy/of course she isn't writing them! They did fact check her a few times and said she was lying. But most of the time she is given too much MSM coverage. Just my opinion. If I said anything here I wasn't really referring to you or others who show what a liar she is. I di think the MSM writes about every tiny thing she does and although she complained constantly about them, what if they didn't do this?
ReplyDeleteSo is this what she plans on doing? Never talking to anyone, no interviews just pseudo term papers on Facebook that she didn't write?
Well Gryph old boy, you just wrote all the reasons that you need to "take her down". Apparently, the iceburg is gone and she won. If you know better, now is the time to get it out!
ReplyDeleteI agree: you can't just let her spout her lies without calling her on them. And since she never shuts up, you have to keep talking about her. If those with sanity and sense stop pointing out her craziness, more and more of the sheeple will start believing she's sane and reasonable. I am tired of the MSM acting like court stenographers.
ReplyDeleteI am with Lisabeth.. it is up to you and Celtic Diva, Shannyn, AKMuckraker and other Progressive Bloggers to call the truth because our so called MSM fails badly when it comes to Failin' Palin. All they do is report what she says and let the chips fall.. then question when the president calls her out.. but they never question her.. or any other rethug who backs her up..That's what ticks me off.. Even so called "liberal" MSNBC is bad about it.. I just heard Carlos Watson let the racist Buchanan spew the lie again that Palin killed the option in the health care bill because she wrote on FB about the death panels.. Bob Shrum tried to counter his talk, but Ass wipe just kept on talking.. it's hard when they let them lie like that and no one calls them out..
ReplyDeleteSo much for truth in broadcasting.
Just because it appears on Sarah's facebook page doesn't mean that Sarah wrote it. We all agree that if it has complete sentences with punctuation, it is the work of a ghost writer. The problem is that anyone in the righ wing of the GOP can be writing that stuff for her, using her as their mouthpiece. Sarah has yet to get before a camera, state her nasty position and be asked questions about it. For all we know, Bill Krystal, Karl Rove of the Devil Himself could be writing the stuff using her name. We give her too much credit, and frankly, she hasn't been seen lately.
ReplyDeleteI read this Dowd piece yesterday. Even she gets some facts wrong, doesn't she? TV sells on conflict. I will explain to you now how the MSM uses Palin for their own profit.
ReplyDeleteNow that "reality TV" has replaced much scripted conflict (as in episodic TV), everyone tries to "manufacture" conflict on the "news cycle" shows. Sarah Palin is a big character in terms of manufactured conflict. She is the former GOP VP nom and besides Michelle Bachmann, they don't have many women on the GOP conflict front.
So that is why the MSM doesn't take her down. She is "phony female opposition conflict" to them and can "sell news programming" as an opposition archetype.
Here are our options as progressives, IMHO:
1) Let Palin and her unprofessional minions take her down themselves (which will happen in due time).
2) Continue to call Mrs. Palin out on every hateful terrorizing stupid thing she "writes" on Facebook.
3) Let's find another GOP woman who will be less hateful and more intelligent and start requesting the MSM cover this woman more as an "opposition viewpoint" on the MSM, such as Kay Bailey Hutchinson. This is doing the RNC's job for them, but even progressives benefit from an INTELLIGENT opposition position, I find. We are lacking any INTELLIGENT opposition positions on the MSM currently.
Frankly, I'm hoping she winds up on DWTS like Tom Delay.
ReplyDeleteJust think about it, Sarah. You get to be on TV every week in sparkly outfits. You get to dance with a young stud. And all your supporters can show their adulation by voting for you every week.
gryphen wrote, "If we do not confront this kind of disinformation and hate mongering there is a very real danger that it will rip our country apart."
ReplyDeleteActually sir in 8 months President Obama has divided this country almost as bad as it was in 1863, I agree that we need to bring and end to disinformation and hate mongering and the prsident must be the first to start.
Notalib, I fail to see how President Obama has divided this country. Well, of course, there is the fact that he is black, which is the primary objection that most right-wingers have to him. It's not health care, it's not bail-outs. It's racism, pure and simple. Feeling proud, are you? Pat in Texas
ReplyDeleteTo those who are as scared for the future as I am: given this post of Gryph's and his previous post about Obama/Dems maybe having a hard time at the next elections (esp if the economy remains poor), and the destrucive power that SP and her supporters (fat cats as well as voters) have, I beg you to each send this link to a least one friend apiece.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.ottoline.net/PalinHoax/
I put it together in an amusing (I hope) format so those on the fence (or completely unaware) might look at it, see the photos, and give babygate some traction. If this could become an MSM story, it would undoubtedly yield the additional items of proof to make this hoax clear to all, and we would be rid of this fraudulent woman on a relatively simple issue.
I know some of you are annoyed by my posting this link over and over, but it's for the same reason that so many of us write in here: frusration and fear for our dear country.
If you still hate this link, please please please tell me your thoughts (you can email from the site) on what would work better, how to improve getting this message out beyond those of us who already know it. I just watched "All the President's Men"again last night and remembered how hard it was to get a story into the MSM that it was reluctant to handle -- even Watergate!
I agree with notalib about the division of this country. It is very much like 1863.
ReplyDeleteI disagree that Mr. obama is to blame. He's been mopping up the mess left from the last eight years, and frankly My Dear, He's done a DAMN GOOD JOB in 8 months. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.
GRYPHEN PLEASE TAKE HER DOWN. Shannyn has contacts and I believe she met with some over the weekend in NY. The time is NOW!
notalib, please give us some examples of how the president is spouting disinformation. No example eh? You sir are bogus.
ReplyDeleteNotalib- please explain EXACTLY how Obama has divided this country.
ReplyDelete160 characters is mighty taxing on Palin's literary alilities. Such a voluminous tome - by Palin standards - would leave her breathless and woozy. I too, doubt that she wrote the post. She couldn't make a subject and predicate agree, even at gunpoint.
ReplyDeleteHowever, Palin is but one of the more idiotic symptoms within the Republican Party. The larger problem is their willingness to engage in fear mongering, demagoguery, and blatant lying for transient partisan gain. The Republicans have placed party ahead of country. That is why I will not vote for ANY Republican until they clean their own house and repudiate such tactics.
As for notalib, ALL of the racist imagery and hate-speech has come from within the Republican Party itself or at Republican sponsored events. A brief Google search will produce dozens of such instances. The divisions that have been created are the handiwork of the Republicans. Cite an example of Obama engaging in hate mongering. I can cite dozens, probably hundreds of examples on the Republican side. I'll gladly go toe-to-toe with you regarding the facts. You employ the disingenuous and dishonest tactic of "they do it too!" The problem is, to do so, you must rely upon vague generalities: you just can't cite specific examples.

Hate to burst your bubble notalib but Obama hasn't divided this country. Nor has he started the hate mongering, but folks like you have. Have you seen the President on television calling anyone who disagrees with him a fascist? Or a terrorist sympathizer? Or a foreigner? Or a Nazi? Or a Communist? You haven't have you?
Have you seen Obama supporters and those that elected him shouting, screaming, using threats and violence towards those that oppose Obama? NO!!
Have you seen those that didn't vote for Obama shouting, screaming, using threats of violence, bringing guns to town halls, physically assaulting those that disagree with them (or support Obama)?? You have, haven't you?
Have you seen politicians you support refer to the President using any of the above terms? You have haven't you?!
You see you and the ilk like you don't think we see through your kind, but we do. We know it's very, very frightening to see a man of mixed race in your White House, we get it.
Must be so very scary for you. You must be worried sick that you're world will no longer be that of White Superiority. We get it.
We understand you must be so frightened thinking if that colored man can do it just think how many other brown folks might accomplish something to. We get it.
We know it's hard to see a man of color on TV everyday that reminds you just how smart he is and how smart you aren't. We get it.
We know it's hard for you to support the colored man even though he's working day in and day out to make your life a better one, your country one that takes better care of it's citizens. He'll keep working hard for you no matter how much hate you direct his way and so will we.
Now back to your hateful little blogs and websites where you'll feel safe with all the racist and bigotted diatribes.
You'll feel much better if you just stay over there in your little white world where the White Man is still king.
notalib, Your comment is ridiculous. The people who are trying to take down our country are Rush, O'Reilly, Beck, Hannity, Dobson & his ilk, Coulter, etc.
ReplyDeleteThey are stirring up the pot of ignorance, hatred and bigotry. Normally, I ignore your posts but after spending an hour contacting Glenn Becks sponsors (& those not sponsoring him anymore) your comment just ticks me off.
There is nothing president Barack Obama could do or say to unite our country. You are all po'd that a republican didn't win. You all got your way for years so now it is our turn to try and rectify what the republicans have destroyed.
I am so sick of you Bible believing Christians distorting Christ's name for your cause. One of the reasons I am an atheist is because if there was a God he would have come down and smacked you all on the head for representing him in such a fashion.
Off my soapbox now - sorry Gryph I hate feeding the trolls but I am sick of the lies........
How did Barack Obama divide the country? By getting elected? Because he didn't stay in his "place?" You racists need to get over it! He won the election. The right-wing is taking this country backwards! Minorities are used to whites dictating to them. They have been doing it for centuries. Whites are not used to minorities telling them what to do. Frankly, some whites think they are entitled! Barack Obama has been far too nice to people who keep spitting in his face! Most people like Barack Obama, while most people don't like Sarah Palin.
ReplyDeleteAnd Sarah Palin didn't win shit! The Senate didn't remove anything, they are on vacation. That end of life provision is going to stay in the House bill where it originated, and still remains, and it's going to be in the final bill!
notalib, geeze go back into your pink hole! Obama hasn't divided the country your precious Party of NO has, and of course Sarah Palin, by being divisive and hateful...!
ReplyDeleteTheir actions of stupidity have impeded President Obama's plan to get the country back on tract after 8 yrs of GOP tyranny.
Stop the hate mongering? You mean muzzle Sarah??Sarah along with her dominionsit GOP friends have the loudest hate mongering voices and the Tea bagging idiots.
I do have to give you credit for calling President Obama President. Most of you call him most rude and disrespectful names.
I thank you for not being like that.
As far as to the other posters on who is writing Sarah's Facebook, I'm beginning to think RAM is. Maybe RAM is writing them while she heals from plastic surgery.lol.
She is going to have to show herself today..though at the APOC meeting. Maybe we will see the unveiling of the New Stepford Palin.
to notalib....I am sick and tired of you f----ng
ReplyDeleteidiots spewing out shit without backing up what you say/write.....
please list how OBAMA has divided this country almost as bad as it was in 1863...
If i have something to say I back it up...I don't just spew out angry, vicious comments
Notalib - The only reason you think that President Obama has divided this country is because he is the first African American President. His election is driving the racist like you absolutely crazy and I am enjoying every moment of it.
ReplyDeleteReesie in VA
Idiotnotalib: The Presiden has not disemintated disinformation nor has he done anything that could be considered, "hate mongering.
ReplyDeleteUnless you would like to let us know what he can do to bring the country together that is NOT doing whatever republicans (who lost by a lot) want him to do.
He may appear divisive because there is a huge number of Americans with racism in their hearts and they just their country back, as Margaret and Helen said, they want the country where a Black man can't be President, back.
Bank bailouts were Bush and were necessary to stop a worldwide meltdown. The stimulus has saved us from a depression. The auto industy needed to be saved just so they didn't add to the economic disaster Bush left us. We will not be running the auto industy. It is NOT a gov takover as the loonie teabaggers think.
So, just exactly WHAT has he done that is disinformation and hate mongering. You threw out the charge so you must know.
I think Sarah Palin and her facebook page are getting way too much credit. She did not originate the talking point about killing grandma. She did come up with the 'death panel' catch phrase. By taking a general idea and specifying how they would kill, not only grandma, but Trig, she made it even easier to see the lie and debunk it.
ReplyDeleteWithout Fox, I wonder if Palin's 'death panel' wouldn't have been limited to facebook and fan sites. Fox got the 'death panel' and other lies to the town halls.
Gryphen, I do agree with you that, once Palin's lies are out there, they must be exposed. I'm patiently waiting for the biggest of her lies -- the most personal one -- to hit the fan. That fraud exposed could save the nation.
Check out the theopalism blog (link on left) for a great post, "Palin is throwing her 'voice' again".
notalib,
ReplyDeleteThis country is not as divided as you might want us to think. Yes, of course, you would want us to think that there are more than just 20- 30% of you racist, bigot wingnuts but we know better.
We know that you want your country back from the black guy in the White House. But guess what, it's not going to happen anytime soon. You and your bunch are a minority and President Obama's administration will be successful in getting healthcare reform and the economy back on track. You right wingnuts are pulling out all the stops but nothing will work. You will LOSE!
Remember when people like you could not bring Lincoln, JFK or MLK down (Just to name a few)? The hatred, anger, bigotry and fear led to the assissination of these three great men. But the work they did was not in vain. Their dreams were still realized.
Well, I think that President Obama's success is going to lead to the right wingnuts trying to assassinate him and this, my friend, will not be a good thing for our great country. America will NEVER be the same if President Obama is assassinated. If you nutheads love this country you just better be o.k. with its success. Success is coming! Please don't let hate get in the way of progress!
FACT: President Obama gets 30 death threats per day. A 400% increase over George W. Bush - the worst President in American history.
NakedTruth
The problem is Mr. Obama and most of the Democrats are TOO POLITE.
ReplyDeleteJust hang a derogatory moniker on her that portrays her lack of knowledge, intellect and grasp of, well, anything. Label her in a way that screams 'MORON'. It's like Birthers or Deathers. Just a one word label that says "this person doesn't know what they're talking about" and it's taken care of.
But the Democrats are too polite. You don't win something like this by explaining. That takes someone who is calm and rational and receptive. We are way beyond that on the health care debate. You want death panels. The insurance companies are your death panels. The insurance companies are standing between you and your doctor.
It needs to get raw and dirty. No pulling punches. No hands across the aisle. No rational debate.
It's war.
On a lighter note, Palin must be fuming at People Mag today. Running with their story announcing who will be on the next Dancing With the Stars is People's 'most wanted' list....Levi Johnston and William Shatner made the cut.
ReplyDeleteNotalib, sir, stop making stuff up. Only low information people believe posts such as yours.
ReplyDeleteYou do keep trying though.
notalib:
ReplyDeleteYou are so wrong. It is not President Obama that has divided this Country. It is those who are so blinded by hate that would rather have this Country in ruins than to have him succeed. I think President Obama has been trying too hard to reach across the aisle but, ignorant fools have ignored him. I say Fuck the GOP and their retarded base and move on and do what is right for this great Nation.
It is attitude like yours that have divided this Country. Don't try to blame this on President Obama.
notalib: go spew somewhere else ok?
ReplyDeleteYour views are well known as are ours. So why come here? We all are aware that the MSM is giving her facetime (oops, guess why the blogpost). We as Americans would love to have the media be at least fair, but I doubt it will happen. The MSM is controlled by a very few individuals and they are simply disseminating propaganda. Unfortunately it is OUR country that is suffering under the media's lack of attention. When the Corporations took over the country, the American people LOST. It will be difficult if not impossible to get our country back to normal - especially since the media has made it obvious they don't want to be "fair and balanced".
SP is a lying hag who couldn't write a decent sentence if she was on Death Row and her life depended upon it.
Regardless of what happens in the future of this country, SHE is not going to be POTUS. No way, no how.
Women HATE her and that will not change. They know a fake phony halfwit when they see it. And she's "it". THIS is the BEST female the Republicans can come up with? I hate to break this to you, but this country will not accept this idiot - she's over 40 and a has been politically. All she can do is spew her hatred and venom via Facebook to her flying monkeys. She isn't increasing her base - but she's hiding for some reason. She also isn't writing her Facebook.
Wonder how the plastic surgery and the mental commitment is working for her?
Yes notalib, the black man has divided your country. Your countrymen are showing that they weren't ready for him. Overall, that is the reason and the party politics comes in second.
ReplyDeleteAs for Palin, she's no longer a factor. She was for a short time but every time she had to speak unrehearsed she brought herself down a little more. Only those repubs who are out of touch with reality would hold out any hope for her in the future. With a few exceptions, a few who have to maintain a bit of dignity by still supporting her when they are forced to do so. Nobody in their right mind is going to bring her up as a topic for discussion unless it is to deride her. The flak from both main parties would be too much to bear with no purpose being served.
All the more reason to keep her name front and center. She is a tool with which to destroy the credibility of her defenders.
notalib---if you wanted the truth from a president you should have begun with GWB, or are you still looking for WMDs?
ReplyDeleteIt really scares me that so many people in our country are just plain stupid. They believe insane crazy crap that can't possibly be true. There are not very many people who read anymore and find out the truth for themselves. They rely on uneducated mouthpieces to tell them what they should think. So many have simply lost the ability to even use their brains. Our whole society has been undermined on many levels by people who have an agenda other than democracy, in fact they want to end it and have a theocracy. They will use any means possible and they already have. Both conservatives and liberals need to unite and stop them.
ReplyDelete1863?? Interesting that you picked that year. Racism? And it's President Obama's fault. I am sorry to say this to you but your statement is SICK and IGNORANT! What the F is wrong with you and those like Palun. SIR you and yours are polarizing the country! Your behavior and words and attitudes are despicable in a country that is supposed to accept and support ALL. You shame this country!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou know if Ms. Palin were at the helm of the white house.. promoting a new "something" say health care.. I would probably be one of the screaming freaks against her
ReplyDeleteBecause I do not like her.. down to me's very core
I think that is 90% of the anti-Health Care stuff today
People that just hate Obama (or Democrats) to the core..
But when your motivation is deep seated disgust.... you spit alot.. and feisty.. but it's silliness
I always wonder if the people looking like complete imbeciles at the town halls see themselves on the news .. either they cheer for themselves or get a real glimpse at how full of hot air their statements are
As for Palin pants getting recognition because she clamored out a FB piece..and we should ignore her
Oh let the ole' girl go
Former politicians do it all the time (think Dick C.) .. even though she hasn't ever truly held a real post in the political arena
Let her spit and moan..
She is just showing more and more of her true colors
That sweet, Christian family woman that the world first saw is now dissolving into an angry bitter old woman
I say let her tweet/FB rant 'til she drops
AND NOTALIB
Obama isn't dividing this country
He is bringing out of the woodwork people set in their ways.. to afraid of any progressive thought
Progressive thought brings unity
Being dead set in one's own ways is an already devisive way to live
Like my old anaolgy of the blessed pimple
Until it can come to a head .. and cannot pop
I know gross but, eh
notalib...@8:31
ReplyDeleteThe majority of the folks causing discourse are republicans, i.e., birthers, teabaggers, etc. Funny how some folks who lost over 51% of 401k monies back last fall have now focused their hatred and blame on the Obama administration. Fact is 76% of Americans want a national health care plan. That leaves 24% disgruntled folks, a little less than the size of the republican party. President Obama continues to address misinformation spewed by republicans.
The USA is the oldest existing Constitutional Republic in the world; a government of laws, and not of men. It is not a simple representative democracy, but a Constitutional Republic in which majority rule is tempered by minority rights protected by law. That is what our founding fathers gave us in a deliberate attempt to diminish the perceived threat of tyranny. Designed so that no one person or group can rise to absolute power. The American people voted overwhelmingly for change after 8 years of the Bush/Cheney regime. Now, the republicans are using fear-mongering tactics and lies to incite civil discourse. They want President Obama to fail; thus, the American people to fail. There are 3,300 lobbyists signed up under health care reform; about 6 for each 535 members of the House and Senate. Maybe you should add your voice calling out those who are promoting hate and lies for their own political gain rather than dumping it all on President Obama.
Thanks, Gryphen. Again, a great post. And I am waiting patiently....
Notalib are you joking!! Palin and her uninformed lemmings like you are dividing and ruining our country! Please please seccede and form your own country! You do not represent the USA I love. There are people (right wing nutjobs) coming to a townhall today with assault rivals. NEVER in years and years has a president been threatened like this! I have tears in my eyes watching this hatred on the news!! One thing they are pointing out that this is a small group of people but it makes the conservatives look insane and out of their minds. But these few get the news coverage! For you to accuse our President of dividing the country is incorrect factually! It shocks be that anyone could be so blind and so uninformed (frankly it is stupid).
ReplyDeleteGryp, how are your lawsuits going? Any words for us yet?
ReplyDeleteI am waiting to hear if SP has decided to sue the Star for their article???
ReplyDeleteSince she's getting pretty thrashed on - (she doesn't actually appear or make speeches, people write them for her on Facebook), seems to me that BigFlea has a lotta letter writin' to do for the Wasilla Hillbilly.
Perhaps a wolf shot her from a helicopter?
oh me again
ReplyDeleteMaybe it would be good for all the right wing american pie, softball, nothing outside church picnics on Sunday mustering their bubble of a world..
to just break off
Let's have two United States :)
Them on one side and the thinker peoples on the other
Although, that would just end in slaughter :(
Evolution wins .. it always does.. a society in backward thinking will never progress.. evolution
Sorry Christian folk
If Jesus were here today.. he would not be at a church softball .. he would be in NYC.. visiting with the artists, the grassroots movements.. and with the bums on the street
He wouldn't be slicking up for Sunday sermon with the "saints" .. heading off to eat for lunch after a holy ghost time.. only to snicker under their breath of how heathen the waitress is .. for working on Sunday and wearin' all that makeup
Church would be 24/7.. with real people connecting, eye contact.. exuding warmth, coherent thought and articulation..
That is the Jesus I know and have since I was 5 and begged to be baptised
Obama isn't the messiah. but professes to be a Christian.. TRUST me looney bins.. If Jesus walked the earth today he would ponder this man
Sarah Pee on the other hand.. she is just like the Pharisees boasting on the street of how she has her house in order, prays all the time in public, and condemns anyone that isn't up her ally
that's all :)
Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin are the de-facto king and queen of the republican party. Every time you/we reference Rush and Palin, we should refer to them as the "leader of the republican party." This drives the strategists like Kristol and Rove CRAZY, because they believe they are the behind the scenes leaders, and it drives the right-wing-gestapo in Washington NUTS, because they are all vying for leadership position.
ReplyDeleteRepubs can't afford any fighting within the ranks, and this is a prime opportunity to exploit the fact that even most republicans think Palin is as dumb as a bag of dirt.
So, as far as I read, the leader of the republican party, Rush Limbaugh, compares the duly, democratically elected President of the United States to Hitler, and the leader of the republican party, Sarah Palin, accuses the President of the United States of geriatric genocide through the use of "death panels."
Never before in the history of the United States, have the leaders of the republican party been so beligerent, divisive, unintelligent, untruthful, and disrespectful to the democratically, and constitutionally elected leader of the free world.
I do not understand why we aren’t up in arms yet about members of congress calling our President and his administration names like nazi, socialists, fascist, communist, etc. Since when do we allow this in our country?
ReplyDeleteWould they have stood for Russ Feingold outright calling Bush a Nazi? Of course not!!! Why do we!?
Free speech is one thing, but if you are an elected official and you refer to the President of The United States this way………………….you should have 3 seconds to get your stuff and get out the door before you are run out!
It’s time to start demanding this from everyone of them, dem or republican…………..if you believe these things enough to tell your constituents their president is a communist or wants to make America a socialist or fascist country, then you don’t belong in my government. You don’t deserve to be in my government!
This is getting out of control, the White House hasn’t been able to drown out the crazy voices, but we have to.
I’m fortunate that those representing my state are people who get it and don’t need to be reminded to care about us, but we can’t allow these other fools to continue with this message. They are drowning us out and running our message right into the ground!
We can not allow them to run Obama and his presidency into the ground because of their HATE! We need him too much and we need him for the whole 8 years. He has much to do and I fee we’re not doing enough to remind folks just who put him in the White House! All of US!
I say start showing up and these town halls with your scripts prepared and challenge these chicken hawks to walk the walk.
Mr. Grassley, last week I heard you refer to the health plan as this, the president as that.
Then why may I ask do you continue to want to work with the very people you refer to as anti-american or communist?
If you really cared wouldn’t you stand on your principle and resign rather than work with the nazi or the communist?
Why aren’t we screaming that from every street corner?
Why are we allowing elected officials to get away with not only inciting violence but downright encouraging it towards the POTUS?
Why aren’t we doing more to protect the very person we fought for day in and day out for over 2 years?
We need to gather the info on these bozos then hound their offices, their town halls, their meetings, etc. with demands for them to resign?
Grassley is a good place to start, but we have many others who also need to get out. Michelle Bachmann is a fine example. She needs to pack her stuff and resign.
They are voted in to represent us as a people, but they are now creating and encouraging tyranny against THE VERY GOVT THEY ARE A PART OF???!!! Why do we continue to allow this??! Why aren’t we making their lives miserable day in and out? Why are allowing the President’s life to be put in danger over issues that affect all of America?
notalib, this country has been divided since LONG BEFORE obama came along. wake the f up, you have no f-ing idea what you are talking about, and it shows.
ReplyDeleteand gryphen I agree. these proud ignorants, liars, and fearmongers need to be confronted and called out at every opportunity. it's past time for america to declare that we're not going to be tolerant of this kind of sh*t anymore.
The good news is that many of the ridiculous "DEATH PANELS!" b.s. statements which have been made by the legion of Republican demagogues will undoubtedly feature very prominently in campaign ads next year. That kind fear mongering to morons might play well in some primary battles, but it will lose the Rs even more seats in Congress. Any R rep. or sen. that is featured in an opponent's ads spewing the "DEATH PANELS!" nonsense will be out of office by the 2nd Wed. in Nov.
ReplyDeletePeople are sick and tired of the phony, manufactured partisan rancor that is the sum total of Republican ideology. If they keep this up much longer, the party will be but a footnote in history in the very near future.
Anon. at 12:07 stated my thoughts: "Never before in the history of the United States, have the leaders of the republican party been so beligerent, divisive, unintelligent, untruthful, and disrespectful to the democratically, and constitutionally elected leader of the free world."
ReplyDeleteSome people have a lot to learn about acceptance, tolerance and about being open minded. The suspicion and anger coming from these people is depressing. As hard as it is, we have to keep on trying to teach them that our skin/bodies are just like a costume that we're wearing. Inside, we're all humans.

ReplyDeleteHate to tell you guys this but, "notalib" kind of schooled you all... they have people commenting on them rather than the subject of the blog post.
ReplyDeleteJust like a caller on a radio talk show who says something outrageous just to stir things up and all of a sudden, all the callers are talking about that caller rather than the subject.
It's called "hijacking", just like the "astro turf" protesters have been doing by hijacking the town halls on health care reform.
Fight back people... it's the only way to beat these Sarah Palin-led bastards.
notalib: Oops - you are nothing but a racist. That's it - plain and simply - a racist hater.
ReplyDeleteProud are you? The uppity one didn't stay in his place?
Look around YOUR country (and OURS) and you will see them. The old, frantic white guys - every one of them on MEDICARE but oh boy, no one can hate like an old white man.
Them black guys shoulda stayed put. Betcha all sit around the store, collecting your Social Security, keeping your Medicare appointments, spewing filth and garbage about the black man who has co-opted your country.
Hatred has always been here. It's just more out there and vocal that normal. And just as sick. Frankly I'd rather be on the non-racist side even if we lose the battle. Racial hatred is not a good thing for any of us and I don't want to be a part of it thank you.
lisabeth: Please remember where Mr. Obama is today. He is in Phoenix, AZ. The land of the Gunfight at the OK Corral, celebrated every October 25th in Tombstone, AZ. THAT is THE history of Arizona. Guns, killing, shootouts - it is a very RED state (altho we now have many more indies registered than Repukes) but like it or not, we are also a border state, we have a Sheriff that likes to kill people, the Minutemen and a boatload of guns.
ReplyDeleteRegardless of who was president, there would be guns here. We still think it's 1871.
anon@12:07: I hope you are right in your comments. If Sarah Palin is the defacto Queen of the Repukes, they are worse off than I thought. She's invisible and having someone spew her thoughts through Facebook.
ReplyDeleteGood Lord! SHE is a LEADER? She'd better get cracking here because Michelle Bachmann announced today that if God tells her to, she is going to run for President!!! No I swear - check out TPM.
Jim is right -- one or two responses to the troll notalib would have been sufficient, folks. He/she's been booted off several other blogs for doing just what he/she did in this topic.
ReplyDeleteLet's not get distracted by the "shiny object" these trolls wave in front of us, OK? Gets us off the topic...
Now I'm going over to read the Maureen Dowd article.
mlaiuppa:
ReplyDeleteYou are so correct!
For some unknown reason the Democrats are afraid to get down in the mud and get dirty.
40-50 years ago the Republicans were the party that wanted to be the "above the fray" and the Dems were the party of dirty politics. In today's politics however, getting your hands dirty seems to be the sole function of the Republican party.
This strategy of being cerebral and polite on the part of the Democrats has to change or they will be the on the outside looking in.
It is beyond comprehension that anyone actually pretends that Facebook is a real Sarah Palin. Monday Anonymous Person is on to something, the name Sarah Palin sells conflict with her hate and she riles up audiences for MSM. they need all the help they can get at the end of summer. She is also generating drama with the expections of the next Palin debut. It will be with new parts like hair plugs, and all surgery scars need to be healed. If something went wrong it could take many more weeks or months. Do pray the voice lessons are a success. She can manage to give a speech but there is no way she can stick to a new script like they write for her on Facebook. Remember no matter how she fails, her chorus will say what they always say and they will call it "win." These are people with alot of experience in manipulating masses.
ReplyDeleteMichelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin dancing together with the stars might even get me to tune in to the reruns one day. It's all funny times for the end of summer.
The former Lt. Gov.of New York, Betsy McCaughey distortions on Obama's health care is where the talking points for "death panel" came from. SarahPac is the facebook where others are writing under Sarah Palin's name. They need to keep the donations coming in.
"Death panel":
"McCaughey got the ball rolling on ex-Sen. Fred Thompson's radio show on July 16, when she called the bill "a vicious assault on elderly people" that will "cut your life short."
She then wrote a column July 24 that claimed Obama advisers don't want to 'give much care to a grandmother with Parkinson's or a child with cerebral palsy.'"
McCaughey is the source of the hoax
http://www.salon.com/opinion/conason/2009/07/31/bill_betsy/
The people who Sarah Palin allows to use her name summarized with the "death panel" buzz word and replaced cerebral palsy child with Trig. They put in the Michele Bachmann speech which was from McCaughey's article.
I believe that we will all look back on this with horror in a couple of years. These peoople crawling out from under rocks because some idiot moron Tweets and chirps on Facebook?
ReplyDeleteMaureen Dowd can be very funny and frequently she hits things right on the head. The fact is, SP is playing to her base and that is all. The tea baggers, the angry old white Social Security collectors - they're simply arms in the battle. The Repukes don't care about the angry white people. It's a numbers game for them.
I think everyone should be able to buy into Medicare. The program already exists - it could be sliding scale premiums. It would be so easy to do and the Repukes couldn't attack it.
I doubt if Palins insipid Facebook rantings had any effect on the health care reform. I think there is something else going on. It may not work, but I believe that if Mr. Obama pulls back, there will be outrage on the side of the supporters.
Someone will pay politically for these stupid games both sides are playing.
As far as Palin's flying monkeys - they've already lost the game. She's in hiding. How about that? Their idol is HIDING. Where is she? Plastic/reconstructive surgery (Boobs for Jesus????)
She is simply a drop in the bucket in this issue. And every Repuke who sandblasts this program will pay in the 2010 election. We need health care reform in this country.
Going out on the limb, I think we're going to get it. Not sure how good it will be - but obviously Sarah Palin is also in the pay of the Insurance Companies. She sure didn't think this up herself.
How much money did the Insurance Companies pay StupidSarah to sell out the American People?
I guess I'm just keeping score wrong:
ReplyDeleteDavid Letterman, who does not seem like an especially nasty guy, is pressured into making a nationally televised apology to Palin and her daughters after he told a joke which he described as "bad".
Despite resigning as Alaska's governor without any hint the move was coming, the polls seem to suggest she is no more or less popular than she was in May.
The hat trick is pulled off when the woman throws a wrench into the gears of Obama's healthcare legislation (which I'm certain really pissed
off republicans across the board) and the repercussions are such that a
world-class Palin critic is forced to admit--or at least opine--that Sarahcuda has to at least some degree, compromised the bill.
What am I missing here? Where is the evidence that Sarah Palin is not on a major roll while the President is taking hits from every side?
Re: Someone will pay politically for these stupid games both sides are playing.
ReplyDeleteSomeone already has. The Obama mystique is on the respirator because he not only has the Taliban and Wall Street to contend with but the auto industry, health care, and many of his supporters who are burying the blade up to the hilt in the guy by their extremely ill-advised obsession with the former governor of Alaska.
Are any of you old enough to remember that JFK was compelled to go to Dallas to patch up a trivial quarrel between Senator Yarborough and Lyndon Johnson?
He didn't have to go. He would have won the '64 election laughing but
the party became fixated on a matter of no consequence.
If her detractors keep giving her the forum she needs and continues to feeds her with the very thing she seems to thrive on--contempt-- she is going to become a force of nature.
notalib, whos bringing the guns to the town halls? And WHY? Who is putting hitler stashes on pictures of the POTUS? Have your taxes gone up?
ReplyDeleteHas your unemployment check stopped? I bet you dont want the gov't to mess with your medicare/medicaid, evil evil gov't...
And I said days ago I thought RAM-er was the FB voice of palins insanity!
Sarah Palin continues to attempt to remain relevant by hiring a ghostwriter to write coherently on her Facebook.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin has lost or quit every job or pageant she has ever had.
Sarah Palin will compete with Michelle Bachmann now because God wants them to run against each other.
Health care is being discussed all over this country - the 2 individuals who chose to bring semi-auto weapons to Mr. Obama's speech in Phoenix can take great comfort that the snipers in the Secret Service had their heads in their gun sights. If either of these people had made a move to their gun, their brains would have been splattered all over the streets of Phoenix (not an unusual thing). The good thing is that there would not have been anything left to keep breathing so it would not have cost the taxpayers anything.
The Health care debate continues to rage on - the loud are still loud. Thinking, thoughtful people who can READ and learn are also considering their feelings.
Sarah Palin had NO effect on Mr. Obama's plans to reform Healthcare. The bills are not yet written, the amendments have not been added.
And Boobs for Jesus is still recovering from even more plastic surgery and trying to get used to a brain transplant.
Mr. Obama is STILL our President. The fact is, Sarah Palin is not controlling or impacting this debate among thinking adults. Those who follow her are the same as always. It is their loss - not ours.
He is still the President and she is now, effectively, in control of a flock of flying monkeys. Since they've all been neutered, their flock is NOT growing - except louder.
So stalemate - your argument is putting me to sleep. Sarah is nothing, has never been anything, and quits everything she starts.
I'll bet the entire Administration just laughs every time they read her Facebook (oh yeah like that would happen). It is really questionable as to whether they even know or care she is still breathing. (Is she???)
Just like always - she's a L-O-S-E-R. Always has been and always will be. All she added, was QUITTER!
Good question. How much money did Sarah Palin take from the Insurance Companies to try and derail health care for American Citizens?
ReplyDeleteShe never has cared about people. She can't even make eye contact with her son.
Sociopaths always have an agenda. What is Sarahs.?
Evidence? This is not a trial.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin must have received big bucks from the Insurance Companies because she hasn't ever cared about people.
3:57 PM
ReplyDeleteSarahcuda or Sarah Palin is out of the picture. Gone, zip and so on. She has disappeared. MIA.
SarahPac is for fundraising. Sarah Palin has allowed them to use her name while she is away. You can believe in Santa Claus, Jesus rides dinosaurs or that Sarah Palin is doing the SarahPac crap. It doesn't mean any of it is real. It means that belief can be very convincing.
The 'compromised the bill' is more spin. Sarah Palin has zero degree of anything to do with that. The 'compromised bill' means little except for a news cycle point of view, it has been promoted and some people buy into it. It's just not that much of a deal. You can also buy a bridge in Brooklyn. I don't know if the SarahPac people using Sarah Palin's name had any influence other then to get some temporary media attention.
Sarah Palin had ZIP to do with any of it. She is literally in hiding. No one has seen her. There is no way she wrote what was on the SarahPac Facebook. Remember those are people that want you to donate to help Sarah Palin when she does return. They are about getting money. They don't allow her to write because they want to influence policy. Using her name is all they need.
You have to believe in the fantasy that Sarah Palin is writing on SarahPac Facebook to believe she can influence or compromise anything. It would make more sense to believe the SarahPac Facebook ghostwriters are compromising a bill. They could do what they do without her name, her name could not write and the person is hiding away.
Can you prove she has been seen since Michael's in New York? Can you prove she is writing the SarahPac Facebook? I don't see how it is in the realm of possibility.
Good question. Who is giving her money? She is obviously hiding from people and has some pretending to be her. Where is she?
ReplyDeleteAnd how much money has she taken?
Why is she on the hook with the Insurance Lobby? I thought she was like, honest. And now I find out she is taking lobby dollars?
Are they getting a divorce or is he stuck with her?
When does she put the kid up for adoption?
No really - she's a total skank (we all know this) so when she gets money she shound be sharing with us Sarah Lobby people right?
I've been lurking on the Palin FB page for quite awhile - although not as a "supporter" - just to read the psycho posts. I'm convinced beyond a doubt that (while Palin supporters are a tiny minority of voters) through organization they've become the people we are answering to in the debate on healthcare. When it fails, the subject will switch to some other issue - probably the right to pack loaded guns wherever and whenever. Their bottom line is there's a black man in the WH - let's bring him down. Palin/Rush/Glenn Beck/Hannity/O'Reilly are running this country. Republican congressman are terrified of them, now the Democrats are terrified...and is the WH caving?? Our votes don't really count when the minority can run the show like it is currently doing.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't the Republicans ever propose anything? They just complain about everything and never have any constructive ideas. Palin just spews venom and never offers an alternative idea. Don't expect her really to have any alternative ideas because thinkin' is hard.
ReplyDeleteBashert, try to put some distance between your contempt for Palin and the
ReplyDeletefacts as they are: the woman is not merely "relevant", she is clearly catalytic, incredibly contrarian (and therefore to a great degree, unpredictable).
NO ONE saw her resignation coming--just as not one political hack or pundit anticipated she could, at least for the time being, throw the administration into a state of disequilibrium by a terse statement from cyberspace.
Perhaps you should consider being less parochial in you reading. Here's
a quote from the "Chicago Daily Observer" which in turn quotes British
political analysts reflecting on Palin's "relevance"
Palin also gives fits to the English with the Economist, dubbing her “patently ridiculous” and the Financial Times, which ran an Op-Ed and a News Analysis piece from Edward Luce, both saying pretty much the same thing,
“No amount of contrary evidence will puncture the view that Mr Obama plans to establish “death panels” that will decide which grannies get to live or die”.
Does that sound like a consequence an impotent, irrelevant, and illiterate woman of no account could effect?
Miss Quittypants is not a role model, and can't write or speak anything that is understandable. Yup, she's a great role model for losers and quitters. Keep up the crappy junk that you spew Missy Quittypants, the world needs to know what you are.
ReplyDeletejust what we need...more gloating from palin
ReplyDeletebtw, b/c she quit and didn't finish out her term, does she still get to keep the sarahpac money? isn't there a law against?
C A Caligrl
ReplyDeleteThe ghost writer does sound more like RAM than quitty pants.
8:30 PM
Where is Sarah? You must believe RAM is relevant, you also believe RAM or the ghost writer is Sarah Palin. No one is saying there are not the minions who keep the impotent, irrelevant, and illiterate woman going through a few more news cycles. To date she has not been allowed to do so much as use her twitter account. When that does happen the rebranding will be obvious. Rebranding is not a sure sell. If she stops hiding and did a few town halls and programs that are not totally staged you could see how illiterate she is again. The puppetmasters that control her will not allow that. To trick people into believing she is relevant they'll stage only shows where they have control and where she can't get too out of control. At some time they will need to have more than a name they can use. That base is a small percent of this country. They make noise. What is going on is not going to attract enough new members to matter. The old dudes like Newt who link on to the celebrity attraction part are trying to promote and sell the same old philosophy in a new package. They don't care if Yogi Bear is the name attraction.
They are desparate and the myth and name Sarah Palin is something they think they can sell. They might have a better chance with Bachmann. Newt laid out what a real person would need to do if they are to be relevant. RAM or the ghostwriter will need to step out from behind the curtain. If a Sarah Palin returns to be more like her ghostwriter writes, with a new look and acting skills improved it will be obviously fake and unreal even if she is able to carry it off for a time. The base is subservient and nuts, they will believe anything, carry automatics and make noise. That is all they have. There is nothing behind the curtain.
Does anyone think the weird quitter crazy woman they call Sarah Palin can handle Newt's advice? Gingrich said. “She can be a personality for a long time,” he said. “But that is very different from becoming a national leader.”
I am sick to death of listening to and reading how people refer to the president of the United States as MISTER Obama.
ReplyDeleteWhen did it become politically correct or socially acceptable to refer to a curent seated president as MISTER? George Bush is the WORST president in history, but even out of office we respectfully allow him his title.
Sorry for the rant.
Palin is ruled by greed. Indeed she has to be cheap, also, too. Anyone else with ready money wouldn't have needed to put themselves into these positions in the first place. Liar, liar pants on fire has done more to expose to all Americans the hatred that boils over in her wingnut base. When her wingnut base came out of the closet, it exposed the true Sarah Palin to us here in Alaska too, also.
ReplyDelete
