Maureen Dowd calls me "Mavericky". Wow!

Palin is still obsessed with the blogosphere, which recently lit up with a rumor started by a fellow mavericky Alaskan, who also no longer has his job — that she and Todd were Splitsville. She sarcastically told Mike Allen of Politico that she loved finding out “what’s goin’ on in my life from the news.”

She deserted her post as governor to write her book about the “pioneering spirit,” as she told Allen. The contradiction seems lost on her.

And, as Talking Points Memo reported on Friday, she put up a demented, fact-free Facebook rant trashing the president’s health care plan: “The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s ‘death panel’ so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society’ whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.”

Do we sometimes drive ’em downright crazy? You betcha!

I am a huge fan of Maureen Dowd!

The fact that she wrote about my situation in her column absolutely makes my day.

And it is just the cherry on top of what has turned out to be an amazing weekend, (I will write more about that later.)

I can't help but wonder what the publisher who is paying her millions to write her all American story thinks of this "pioneering spirit." Two comments I saw yesterday here and there. One, the person said they would like McPain to stand up and say he still supports this woman ("how 'bout her, heh, heh!!") The second person wrote to this effect: Now that SP has mastered projection (in the psychological sense) someone better watch out for Trig's best interest. I also, too, believe that there's a whole lot of projection goin on in that family. Killing babies? Molesting teenage girls? Where does this shit come from with them? That was a rhetorical question. The unconscious mind is a terrible thing to waste.

  8. Dowd should have linked to you Gryphen or mentioned your blog specifically. "Do 'we' sometimes drive them crazy?" YOU drive Palin crazy, as does Shannon, and Mudflats, and thank you for that!!

  12. Great job getting attention Gryphen. There will be many who know what is happening that will find a way to get Palin's incoherent rant out there with the implication that the glue that held her together is all sniffed out.

The fact that she mentioned our own personal private mavericky guy is just the cherry on our Sunday Sundae!

LAinSF: Yesterday I sent the following email AND written letter to John McCain. I have requested that as HIS constituent, I want a statement from him as to whether he supports Palin's "Death Panel and Killing Down Syndrome children" statement.

I will follow up weekly. I also will call his local office but I want it in writing. He is responsible to answer me and I'm not letting him off the hook.

Yay Gryphen - I cannot wait to hear about your weekend antics.

  13. A question to my IM friends: We often have people come onto this blog and say they are conservatives and then they proceed to make a statement that makes complete and total sense, or as a question as to why we feel the way we do, without attacking us as individuals?

So I have a question of our conservative friends (and yes there are people who differ with our views but it is done in a civilized manner that does not involve killing us because we disagree.)

If you found the Death Panel and Killing Down's Children comment as sickeningly reprehensible as others do, why is no one speaking up against this type of hate speech?

Why is it that when Sarah Palin speaks hate, eschews blood and violence, accuses President Obama of Murdering Special Needs Children with a Health Care Bill - why don't the people who are conservative and KNOW this is simply stoking violence and hate, and that it is wrong, speak up?

The people in this country are now being held hostage by a bunch of paid, bussed-in, trumped up fat white slobs who want to bring guns and obviously want to kill people who disagree with them? They don't want anyone to be able to ask a civilized question and get an answer?

I would like to know WHY, if an elderly lady wants to question HER Congressperson on Medicare, why are people screaming at her? What are you afraid of????

Where are the intelligent conservatives in this country? The people who know hate and bloodshed is wrong? The people who know Sarah's tactics are sick?

Are you so totally cowed that you are allowing others to speak for YOU??? You are allowing people to cause and create violence against "information"????? You support a politician who is advocating violence against 50% of the US population?

What do you expect to gain by all this?
Kill a few little old ladies? Does that float your boat? Or hire some fat white guy slob with a beer gut to do it for you?

Do you really think this is good for any or all of us? Are you afraid to debate on the issues? Are guns and threats to hang people your only talking points?

Is this how you were raised? Is this YOUR America?

    Hi Grypen,

Since we know Sarah and her minions read your blog, re-printing this blog post from Daily Kos, "Sarah and Eunice", should really make their day. Comparing her to someone who actually made a positive difference in the lives of disabled individuals, rather than just being a person bloviating about it. Says it all.

  15. Well she now has Gingrich (Marrying Man) on her side. That should tell you something about HER credibility. Bachmann and Gingrich. Class all the way.

  16. I guess Maureen had to use phrases like "conspiratorial" and "gossipy" bloggers to get the courage to mention Gryphen. He sure sticks his neck out farther than Maureen does hers. Still, it's so good to see acknowledgment in the NYT and it must drive Sarah stark raving mad to see Gryphen mentioned on a par with her as a "mavericky Alaskan". Ha!! Haha!!

  19. I heard that this morning on MTP, Gingrich asked Palin, Romney and Huckabee to join him in supporting the next republican grass roots initiative...in an effort to prove conservatives mean what they say, he wants all seniors and vets to renounce medicare, social security and VA benefits. Gingrich says we have to walk the talk. When a befuddled Stephanopoulis said, really? Gingrich said yes, we have to show the left that we don't need ANY government help. American seniors and vets are strong people, they'll find a way to get along without these socialist services.

    Pass the word people!

Did anyone hear Newt G this am say that conservatives want vets and the elderly to give up their govt run health care, since yes, they want to walk their talk? he's sure "they can work out some other arrangement for themselves".

Nice, eh? Best let your vets and grandparents know that the republicans are gunning for the health insurance they already have.

Most people can google Gryphen and find him, so it's cool that MD didn't link here. She did her part with a mention....nothing like driving up the hits of a blogger who came out after SP, eh? :-) cheers to MD!

Wow Gryphen, you are definitely in the big time now - The New York Times! And to add the icing to the cake, don't you just know it makes Sarah Palin go beserk to see her "word" applied to you!!

Thank you Basheert for holding McShames's feet to the fire. I have said all along, he has to accept responsibility for unleashing the idiot on the rest of the world.

Well, lots of luck with that plan of action Neweter. God, these people are losing it big time. Talk about a melt down.

Does that mean that Newt is going to give up his government provided health benefits? I am assuming that he is covered under some kind of federal pension plan with health benefits. After all, he should walk the walk....

Cheers Basheert for your efforts to get McCain to address whether he supports What's-her-Name's comments on death panels and killing Down Syndrome babies. Would you be SURE to update us on what happens?

  25. "She sarcastically told Mike Allen of Politico that she loved finding out “what’s goin’ on in my life from the news.”

    Picture this;

Palin wakes up early, too early as she has caused another controversy. She puts on a pot of coffee and runs to the computer. She has bookmarked every Alaskan blog, she needs to keep up with what her next move will be. She hears a noise and starts screeching, "Piper, shut that kid up! You know too how hard it is also to read with noise! As a matter of fact, you keep him in your room all day. Mommy has work to do for the troops!"
Palin then gets Meg, her BFF on the phone. "Meg. You better get your lazy butt up and start formulating an op-ed for my FaceBook page. Now! I need to gather my followers to be at the Town Halls. Make sure you send them the bullet points. And tell them to bring real bullets this time! You've got 2 hours or I'm docking your paycheck!"
Meg, wiping the sleep from her eyes, is so tired from the night before. Poor Todd needed a shoulder to cry on as Sarah was with............
