CONSERVATIVE darling Sarah Palin is suffering a nervous breakdown as her marriage collapses, her family is rocked by crisis and her political career sinks, insiders fear. This week's GLOBE bares all the blockbuster details of the former Alaska governor's secret life. It's must reading for every American.Usually I am not a fan of the celebrity gossip either, but in Palin's case I feel it is important to keep tabs on what is happening because she still has the ability to energize a very nutty wing of the conservative party.
And by the way they are the target audience for these tabloids. (I mean look, it outs Oprah as a lesbian and talks about NASCAR. How is that not Sarah Palin's demographic?)
And yes I had heard rumors of a breakdown as well, but they were not definitive enough for me to include in my August 1st post. And as far as I know they are still only considered rumors.
But the question as to where Sarah Palin is at this moment is still a mystery.
Palin and her evil twin Meg Stapletongue have both disappeared. Maybe they are the new "Oprah and Gayle." Hee-hee.

ReplyDeleteI don't know enough about narcissic personalities to guess whether she is having a "nervous breakdown". Plenty pissed off about not being able to manipulate those around her perhaps, but I think her type may me more into anger/revenge and lashing out, rather than "nervous" and withdrawing.
I have read a few speculations here, and wouldn't be surprised to find they are more "on the mark". Right now I'm leaning more towards a little nip and tuck on her face, so she can look extra cute for her big come-back book tour. Maybe she will turn up with a few more blond highlights in her hair/weave, as her base seems to have a thing for blondes.
Power, money and fame are what fuels her.
She is where she belongs now - in the tabloids.

I'm trying to figure out what happened between the time that Sarah announced that she was quitting and her so-called nervous breakdown. How did she know 3 weeks in advance that she was going to fall apart? Or, was there just enough medication to keep her going until the last hot dog was served?
ReplyDeleteI understand the terrific letdown after being in the spotlight nonstop. And if one runs on the manic end of the cycle, sooner or later there is bound to be a crash.
I agree with ennealogic that Sarah sold her facebook space, or one of her ardent followers has picked up the torch and is bravely carrying on. The problem is that we read those mad woman tweets, and the two authors are not the same people.
I think that her irrelevancy is killing her, slowly. Quittin' the Govship for her "higher calling" is not working out quite how she thought it would.

ReplyDeleteHonestly, that really doesn't describe the person known as Barracuda. Nope, not at all. Wasn't she dining in NYC with Todd just a few weeks ago? Lobster and champagne for two. Since she has been on the national stage, family drama has been her spin.
I think Sarah and Todd are pulling a scam. After all, didn't they both fake that pregnancy? And they were both working from the governor's office, and involved with troopergate, housegate, religiongate, big oil, AIP, Arctic cat, etc. Yep, thick as thieves, those two. Palin should be writing a book and studying foreign policy. A nip and tuck, also, too, again.

Think of how much has happened in a year. One year ago today Sarah was considered the "hottest governor in America." No one outside of Alaska had heard of her save a 21 year old zealot sitting in his mom's Colorado Springs basement blogging ad naseum about her viability as a possible v.p. pick. Then came August 27, a day when John McCain was reminded he needed to pick someone to run with him on the Republican ticket. John called Sarah while she made the rounds in Palmer at the State Fair. Next day - he asked her to run with him. She flew to Ohio on August 28 under cover and proudly marched herself in her cute little red Naughty Monkey pumps out to meet Ohio and the world on the morning of August 29 - with a dazed Todd, sleeping four month old Special Needs son Trig, leery-looking Piper and Willow and a very clearly uncomfortable and terrified looking Bristol following her.

The months of angry exchanges with the legislature, the joke of an AG apt. amidst the silly game playing trying to simply fill a vacated Senate seat, and ethics violation after ethics violation, all this with two crying infants at home, a disinherited almost son-in-law spilling the family beans in interview after interview, a spat with David Letterman, a horrifying expose in Vanity Fair - and then, from way out in left field came July 3.
I quit. It's over. Trust me, Alaska. It's all for you. I love you so much. Trust me. I have a higher calling to fulfill.
The tweeting gets turned up (somebody, for the love of all things grammatical, make her stop) and then finally, turned off.
She marched across the sun drenched crowd in late July in Fairbanks on a promising afternoon in her jeans and black jacket and said, "Stop making things up." And then, adios.
Then the divorce rumors and the Facebook ghost writers and the silent tweets and then this - the front page of the Globe.
What a year.
Is it finally over?
I've had some tough times too, but never a "nervous breakdown." Could someone explain what that is, exactly? I looked at wikipedia; didn't help much. Depressed? Hard to get out of bed? Everything sucks? Okay, sure. Haven't we all had that? And sometimes you call in sick, and sometimes you have to keep going. And do. I don't get it. Could some expert pls explain?

Much as I dislike her and what she stands for, the breakup of a decades-long marriage is typically difficult. For that, I do feel sorry for her.
ReplyDeleteGryphen, I've been friends with a retired newspaper editor for years. Back when the first Palin story in NE came out I asked for his comments on the veracity of a tabloid.
ReplyDeleteHe replied that they employ teams of lawyers to make sure they don't get sued. Also the reporters are very well-paid. Bottom line - believe them. Tabloids are sensational, but they remain in business. The NE is the one that broke the John Edwards story.

Does she continue her lies and leave former associates and friends to prove her even a greater liar? Can you imagine how some of the "so-called" close associates are going to feel after Sarah blames them for her downfall? Her book will no doubt unleash additional scandals and uproar. She finds herself in a real tough position and whether her family will continue to stand by her when she starts to commit to paper descriptions of her marriage, her husband, her children and her life. Remember she is being handled by a Christian publisher and this book has to have a "higher calling." The woman who spews hatred and venom is not the perfect example of a "true" Christian person.

After all,she has NDP, if not sociopathic personality disorder, and the harsh winds of reality slapping her in the face are usually easy for these folks to ignore, but the failure to make the world see that she is better than Obama and belongs in the white house (she believes that she's entitled to be there and honestly can not understand, nor can she SEE, why Obama is there and how he is better than her).
ReplyDeleteI think her frustration over others not seeing her as the Queen she knows she is may have gotten to her. I don't believe that her personal life effects her the way it does a normal person; for the NPD, all they know is that people are either usable or unusable. Once people stop being pawns for the NPD, or stop being mirrors reflecting only what the NPD believes about themselves, the NPD becomes exceptionally cruel.

They don't have relationships. They have people they can use (props), and people they have used. the people who stand up for themselves or for justice or the truth are punished with the wrath of someone whose very ego is at stake, and then thrown out with the garbage with nary a thought. In fact, most people who have relationships with NPD are stunned to realize that the NPD does not care at all about them. They only care about the image being projected to the world.
there isn't much help for NPD, so even is she's had a breakdown (which I doubt as it would require some knowledge of reality- unless her breakdown was a tantrum over the world not adoring her), she will not get better.
She will simply rearrange her life so that she's only getting the praise she needs to survive. She can't handle criticism, and that's for sure.
Perfect...where are all the lawsuits from Van Flea? Let's see, we've got Shannyn and Gryphen, Star Magazine, now the Globe...that's a whole lotta billable hours for my man, UNLESS HE DOESN'T HAVE A CASE!

I was listening to CNN on my car satellite radio last week, and they mentioned that there was another rumor that Sarah was moving to Rhode Island and getting a gig on Fox News. WTF? Rhode Island? That is a bluer than blue state and actually one of my favorites in NE. Oh well, sorry for Rhode Islanders if that is the case...but hey, Sarah does have that stupid PATRIOTS sweatshirt she wore to one of her "Quitnics"!

ReplyDeleteAlso, if she does in fact have NPD, she could be hospitalized or treated with therapy or whatever--but it is the one mental health condition for which there is essentially NO CURE. There are a handful of narcissists who claim to have been "fixed", but generally it is a permanent state. People with NPD typically believe they are brilliant and everyone around them (including co workers, therapists, total strangers, people in positions of power over them, and even their own family members) are complete idiots. The most typical advice I have heard about surviving a narcissist is that you detach yourself from their insanity and run away as far as you can, then keep them away from you.
ReplyDeleteI was married to one previously...it was a completely insane life. Everything that happened in our household was about him, to advance his career and make him look good. When our kids were born he almost went off the charts--narcissists are often controllers, and normal people know that kids are impossible to control at all times (as Palin has discovered with bristol's pregnancies!), and they become unhinged when things don't go their way. For these people children are most useful as narcissistic supply--to get attention for themselves through whatever the kids do.
NPD behaviors typically worsen as the narcissist ages and loses the physical attributes of their youth, since so much of their persona is about people admiring them and superficial outward appearances. It is not a pleasant process.

There are certainly more rehabs to hide out in New York and surrounding areas as you have the "Hampton" clientele. She was last with Murdoch who was in Alaska on the resignation and then shortly after in New York, Murdoch who easily could have arrangements made! MSour was also conveniently in AK to make plans for FB takeover etc. There is no way Palin could do a cold turkey!! (LOL)

She may be manic-depressive, a sociopath or an NPD - she may also have symptoms of all of them. It's not like a manic depressive cannot also be a sociopath.
It was pretty obvious (even to the brain dead MSM) that missy Sarah was a flyin' before she left. Whether she was having a manic episode or was higher than a kite, I have no clue. But what goes up, comes crashing down.

$P is finally taking the advice of Van Flein and taking herself out of the spotlight (except for Facebook posts) so that she can claim the moniker of average citizen and try to sue people for what they say about her or to provide a defense when people sue her for her postings.

This is in preparation for her "coming out" party in which she, with the help of Limbaugh, Beck & Van Sustern at Fox, along with the help of Dobson and other right-wing Christian groups can announce a third-party alternative.
This third-party alternative is bolstered by "her" facebook posts and incitement of anyone so she can get the "elderly" and uneducated to support her and her running mate. She is following her normal course of action by not stating anything she would do specifically to solve a problem (other than beneficial catch phrases), but just exhorting others with misinformation and how bad the current proposed policy is. This is absolutely similar to what she did to become ex-Gov of Alaska.

Sarah picked up those babies and slung them around on national stages like rag dolls long after they should have been in bed. I'm going to guess he saw this "mom" behavior as a ridiculous manipulation. Todd seems like a straight shooter. I can't imagine he would want to stomach what her game currently seems to be: obstructing our fairly elected President to the detriment of the American people who elected him.

ReplyDeleteIt's possible that her D.C. lawyer and her publisher told her to STFU, sit down and start typing. She has a contract to honor now and deadlines. They paid her big money. That first check meant it was time to grow up. So, it might be as simple as that. On the more devious side, she could be plotting and scheming and doing the old "abstinence makes the heart grow fonder" thing. Or, she could have completely imploded. Even my husband said you can't have watched her on the lawn that day in July prattling about basketballs and dead fish and not found her mentally ill. She has been a manic tour de force for the past year. After the flying high comes the landing low and she might just be plum tuckered out. And that can be a definition of a nervous breakdown. There isn't one simple one. A person can simply be unable to perform basic tasks, construct logical thinking, be anything but overwhelmed by noise and activity. She might need a long rest. Or medication. Or med tweaking. It usually is more than just don't feel like getting out of bed. Appetite, sleep patterns, a lot of things can be affected. And if a professional told me that she had been diagnosed with something, I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised.

As far as the media I think it is important to see who responds to the SarahPac notes as if they are a real Sarah Palin. Whether it is a Republican, Democrat, Green, Libertarian, RonPaul, Conservative, Liberal or anything else. If they are taking that serious they need to be called out. If no one can say what the truth is and they pretend Palin writes that, they are part of another Palin hoax as far as I am concerned. I want to know who they are.
Babygate and now SarahPacgate, Notegate or Facebookgate. What will the next hoax be?

I don't particularly like Rahm Emanuel; I'd go so far as admitting that I think some of his behavior is contemptible and yet if I were to hear that
he was hospitalized because he was experiencing a severe depression,
I would feel a measure of compassion for him knowing he was experiencing living hell.
It seems many people who frequent this three-ring circus find it not only justifiable but wear it is a badge of honor to take a vicious pleasure in the humiliation or suffering of those who they have branded as "the other".
I didn't vote for Obama but I can to a small degree understand the heavy burden he bears and the formidable challenges that must keep him awake while most of America sleeps.
It would not, for example, give me any measure of satisfaction whatsoever if the Globe (How can anyone mistake it for the National Enquirer?) trotted out a front-page side-bar story claiming the president been taking subutex for a year as part of a program to detox from an Oxycontin habit he had acquired.
I would think anyone who found such news cause for happiness to be
morally bankrupt.

ReplyDeleteanon@4:03: NPD is easy to find out about. Just google it. In a nutshell, NPDs exist to be worshipped. When they don't get enough, they self destruct. They care about no one but themselves and will use anyone or anything to get the worship they believe they are entitled to.
They are generally not treatable - there is no pill, they won't accept therapy because they are "above" it.
They will sell anyone down the river if it suits their purposes. Eventually as their pathology takes a real hold, they destroy everyone around them with their lust for power, control and hero worship.
They surround themselves only with people who will constantly tell them how wonderful and perfect they are. But they never connect on an emotional level.
They are human vacuums and unable to develop any type of "love" or "caring". Their world is about them and if people don't adore them, it makes them angry and they lose control.
The disease process will continue - and they generally thrash and trash anyone and eveeryone because no one is ever enough to satisfy their gluttony for adoration.
Psychiatrists don't like working with them - there is no way to connect with them. And drugs/therapy do not work. They are very clever and will say what they think a psychiatrist wants to hear. Much like a sociopath, they have no conscience.

Many are saying that they would not be the least bit surprised. She certainly appeared unhinged during her resignation speech last month - if not before.
Personally I hope she's receptive to getting the help she needs and can get well enough to see to the needs of her family.

So according to Mercede, Bristols pregnancy was a huge part of the problem in their marriage. SP let Bristol and Levi sleep together, Bristol got pregnant and Todd was pissed. The other thing that ticked Todd of was that when Track got caught buying alcohol using a false ID, SP pushed Track to go into the military and Todd was against that. Todd blamed SP for making a mess worse.
ReplyDeleteAlso mentioned was that while they were high school sweethearts, today if they aren't in public you won't catch them showing affection to each other. In the last few years Mercede said she hadn't seen them kiss, cuddle, have a date night, or even vacation together unless it was publicity related.
It's a marriage for the cameras according to Mercede.
If even a part of that is the truth, this is not a happy marriage. Would it lead to a nervous breakdown, maybe, it would certainly lead to unhappiness.
Sarah has had prayer warriors praying to their god for decades. She needs to help herself now, not to what belongs to others but from her insides. If she put her trust into a false god, that's on her. A breakdown can be a fresh beginning. If there is no fix in her future, that's just the way it goes. Most people don't have Murdoch money and all her donors to support and fund her whims. She has more help than most.

We must keep going over her record with natives, homeless, the 222 dead waiters. prison inmates, youth and all she treated so shabby until more people know who she is.

When Norman Mailer passed away, a man who was much more vicious in his attacks against those he disagreed with, I don't recall reading a single comment suggesting satisfaction that he was gone.

And what's more, it's true - she does belong in the tabloids. You can bet that "her base" makes up a disproportionate percentage of US tabloid (Star, Enquirer, Globe) readership.
SP is absolutely tabloid fodder. She isn't good for anything else. She can't "talk" about anything or on a topic (because it's all about HER). She lacks depth, knowledge, intellect, and likabiity.

I do have to say Gryphen has 'fallen down' on some of his 'reveal' promises and kinda glossed the fact over. And, most likely, if some solid info came out I'd donate. So far it seems the Levi stories just perpetuate the mystique of Levi and just kindof string us along. Were it not for a shimmer of hope about breaking Johnston news, I'd probably shorten my reading list, though.

A long, cautionary NPD story: I speak from experience with my husband, although it was not until after I divorced him, after 4 years, that I learned about NPD which explained everything. Viewed by all as smart, funny, sweet. But increasingly revelaed himself, up close, as controlling, selfish, unsympathetic. No close friends. Very, very good at reading other people, showing "normal" behavior when modeled by others or in a structured routine. Manipulative. Masterful liar. Incapable of empathy. "Right" is what you can get away with, and "wrong" is what you get caught at.
ReplyDeleteThey don't have substance abuse problems because they're addicted, but ust because it feels good. They are often social and even sexual predators because it's the most efficient supply chain for the approval, adoration and control it provides them. Terrible, awful parents mostly because it's too much effort for too little payoff after the child reaches an age where he can discern and speak out about the sham. Children are useful for getting approval from others, or as ready unquestioning sources of love and approval.
My divorce rocked my NPD husband world. He was first dismissive, refused to believe it and would not move out. I had asked him to seek help, and attend counseling with me, about his pattern of deceit and lying, as well as his worsening alcohol abuse. Instead he sought medical help and collected a fistfull of prescriptions, citing marital distress, and wound up with Xanax, Valium, Prozac AND alcohol on a daily basis. He began to lose his grip on his lies, and apparently forgot we had moved to an area where we had the "new" caller ID feature on the phone... got caught in more and more lies. Later found out he had begun adding cocaine and meth (this was a 40 year old, successful small business owner, country club golfer, mind you.)
After I divorced him in what was a reasonably friendly divorce on my part (frankly, I just wanted away from someone I had come to believe was truly, deeply flawed in his character)he became vindictive, aggressive, threatening. I moved 500 miles away.
Six months later he was arrested, and later pled guilty to, dozens of charges related to indecency with a minor, multiple vitims, multiple jurisdictions, going back two or more years with girls as young as 12, whome he met on the internet and actually picked up from school.
It seems that he believed he was smart enough that he wouldn't get caught: he was careful not to have actual contact, etc. But the narcissist won out, and apparently got a tattoo on his penis (you can't make this stuff up) and secretly made videotapes. After he wrote $30,000 hot checks to attorneys, he was left with a public defender who pointed out the obvious to him. He is in his 9th year serving a 15 year sentence.
When I divorced, no one in my entire circle of friends or family supported me breaking up my child's home. After the crimes were made public, I was asked repeatedly how I could not have known.
NPDs, especially the smart ones, are really really good at getting what they need. Until they spin out of control, and then they leave a trail of debris for everyone in their lives.
I do believe that Sarah Palin is one. I also believe that NPD may be the operational definition of evil.
I stopped bashing Miss Sarah long ago when I realized that she was very mentally unstable and had serious mental health issues. BUT I can still her hear voice at the very scary rallies last fall, gleefully bashing on the Obamas. I was horrified that the governor of my state would misrepresent Alaska and Alaskans in such a vitriolic and vituperative manner. Miss Sarah is a world-class basher herself, if people want to bash in return, so what ?

ReplyDeleteOne of my closest friends recently met a woman in television production who worked for Gayle King a long time--in fact, this person turned down a job offer to go work for Oprah in Chicago. According to this impeccable source, the Globe got it right, FWIW.
anon@9:08 - I'd like to say thanks for you coming and sharing your story. It reads like a personal nightmare and I'm sure living it was even worse. I truly cannot imagine what it is like to watch someone you love and trust gradually change like that. So subtle (as you said, so charming and manipulative) but so destructive.
ReplyDeleteIt is a tribute to your strength that you escaped from a life with an NPD. The destruction and the havoc they wreak on others is truly stunning and frightening.
It is unfortunate you didn't have family support. NPD's are charismatic until they are "crossed" or disagreed with. Then they become deadly dangerous as they destroy anything and anyone that does not share their egomaniacal view of themselves. They frequently take their family down with them when they begin to lose their support.
The lack of empathy and the lack of conscience eventually destroys anyone and everyone in their path that is left. As people begin to recognize they are mentally ill, often their friends and relatives walk away, unable to deal with the self obsessive ego-driven behavior.
What you did took a lot of courage and I'm sure it was very difficult to experience. Telling your story also took courage - thank you.
Thanks for sharing, Anon@9:08. I'm glad you able to get away. I saw an interview on television of another woman who fell in love with an NPD man. When the relationship was over, she was left with enormous debts he had run up, using her business credit card.

ReplyDeleteThe way in which this fund is set up allows for far more abuse and 'discretion' than the SarahPAC and should be of more concern. Especially after the recently 'leaked' comments from the special investigator. But nothing, anywhere, not on ADN or Celtic Diva or here. . .
