Sometimes words fail me.
Thankfully there is the poet Dylan Thomas to fill that void far better than I ever could.
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Namaste, Senator Kennedy, Namaste.
Such a sad but amazingly uplifting couple of days.
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased that President Obama was in office to deliver that eulogy, He does so well.
ReplyDeleteThanks also for the Dylan Thomas poem
President Obama's Tribute to Sen. Ted Kennedy...beautiful, heartwarming and so very true of the man called Ted.

Seldom will I put the words "good" and "politician" in the same sentence. I do that gladly for Mr. Kennedy; yet he was not a politician was he? Mr.. Kennedy was a legislator, an American, and he crossed the aisle before it was a popular political spin.
ReplyDeleteI did not always agree with him, but I always respected him. I am a former Bostonian, who grew up with his presence guarding our beliefs and I grateful for that.
Our government, and the citizens of this great nation all suffer a loss that is only exceeded by the loss to his family.
God rest and keep you Edward Kennedy, you have earned it.
Peace,
Scott Edward G.
