A new book by a former White House speechwriter contends that former President George W. Bush warned the party before John McCain picked Sarah Palin. "This woman is being put into a position that she is not even remotely prepared for," Bush said, per Matt Latimer's book, "Speechless: Tales of a White House Survivor." "She hasn't spent one day on the national level. Neither has her family. Let's wait and see how she looks five days out."
I don't think I can adequately describe how much I DON'T want to agree with George Bush on ANYTHING. But damn, it looks like "Dubya" nailed this one.
It just makes me wonder "Where's Sarah?"
ReplyDeleteShe's given us hissy fits via Twitter for much less reason than this.
guess the c4pee'ers will have to throw George Bush under the bus too (along with the RNC, the media, McCain, et. al.). NO ONE can criticize or question their Queen without incurring their wrath. Other than themselves (all 20 of them), who is left who supports her and thinks she can be the leader of the free world? NO ONE, that's who.
ReplyDelete"Neither has her family." What did he mean by that? I would really like to know! Most politicians aren't expected to have families that are nationally savvy about politics. Why did Bush say that? grammy
ReplyDeleteI also couldn't believe that I actually agree for once with gw...

Marcy, Bush's family was in national politics for decades, so everyone knew the drill/ I think he meant her family has NO idea what it's really going to be like, they have no clue.
ReplyDeleteMichelle had at least experienced a national senate campaign and life in the senate.
my first thought?
ReplyDelete"Takes one to know one."
Fedup!!
ReplyDeleteNot a surprise. Eric Prince, the head of Blackwater is a strong Dominionist christian who has proclaimed his hatred of all of Islam and has been on a mission to destroy them. Now it seems he may be trying to train his own religious militia for all who disagree with the cult in this country. This is beyond scary folks!!
Way to go, GWBush, takes one to know one.
ReplyDeleteMarcy: Maybe he meant to imply that none of her family had left Alaska for any length of time? (I know her family came from Idaho, she went on a degree search in 5 different colleges/states, and Track went to Michigan for part of a year. Other than that...
ReplyDeleteGryphen writes, "I don't think I can adequately describe how much I DON'T want to agree with George Bush on ANYTHING. But damn, it looks like "Dubya" nailed this one."
ReplyDeleteEven a broken clock is correct twice a day.
Republicans can't get far enough away from Bush. They try by calling themselves conservatives. I'm not like Bush, they say, I'm a conservative. These cowards are like rats jumping the ship. They voted for Bush twice, but now they'd never admit it.
ReplyDeleteRemember when Palin gave her acceptance speech. They were applauding wildly for Palin, and then she said that her husband Todd was proud to be in the union. That really threw the hole convention for a loop, but they recovered relatively quickly and kept applauding.
It just goes to show how bi-polar republicans are. They just need somebody to follow, and somebody to tell them who to hate, and what flavor is the koolaid.
W may as well have been describing himself. He has no clue & he fucked up the country in record breaking ways.
ReplyDeleteScrew him & his daddy's coattails he rode in on.
I cannot wait for the China speech. Now, I think she'll be provided with an intelligent-sounding written speech, but I also think that after all this time, and the ensuant pressure, that she's going to choke. She's going to mispronounce some key words or otherwise reveal that she doesn't have a clue in the world what she's saying. And, being Hong Kong, it will all be captured on a thousand minicameras :)

it is no secret that i find W's persona to be on the douchey-&-dubious-overly-entitled-sullen-fratboy-side.
ReplyDeleteand we know that he is publicly inarticulate and appears to have some general problems with speaking in his mothertongue. i never liked him.
but he is expertly qualified to know about the personal power and games played by US politics in general and political families/dynasties in the "celeb-powersphere" specifically.
so, knowing that he comes from that particular perspective, his judgement that SP "is not even remotely prepared for [life & politics] on the national level" has more weight than if it came from anybody else i could think of!
look, a guy who shares SP's problems with publicly apparent basic logic and communications skills, and yet managed an 8 year presidential term despite that, because he (or his 'handlers/marketers') still had the cunning to understand "the game" of historical/familial structures of power in our country and play it (his most apparent personal strength), said SP hasn't got the skills.
if she ever campaigns for anything again her opponent[s] should use this quote heavily, in the frame of "even W knew she didn't have what it takes to survive a national campaign, let alone a national/international job. from his personal perspective. he knew she was naive and incompetent...."
because that judgement from his perspective tells us a hell of a lot!
Well I have been saying, she makes GW look like a genius.
ReplyDeleteI think I read somewhere the quote went on to say "Isent she the gov of Guam?" Ouch.
ReplyDeleteWhat GB may or may not have said,in the expected privacy of the White House,is not the point. I am much more troubled by the total lack of honor and integrity exhibited by Matt Latimer in writing this book. Mr.Bush had placed his trust in those around him and had every right to expect that his private, candid remarks would not be repeated, just as Mr.Obama did regarding is 'jackass' remark. No one, not even the President, should have to filter every statement he utters for fear that someone he trusts will betray him for the sake of publicity or money. How many of us would want all of our private discussions made public and subject to analysis and ridicule?
ReplyDeleteSP will never be the GOP nominee for President while Mitt Romney draws breath. Romney, Huckabee and other nominees will tear Sarah Palin apart in the primaries.
ReplyDeleteW. owes the people of Guam an apology, as he asked in a yuk-yuk fashion, "Is [$P] the governor of Guam?"
ReplyDeleteI found the "family" remark especially telling, as Hillary Clinton had a long conversation with GHWB before her husband's '92 run, and came away jubilant. "We can beat him, he knows nothing," she insisted. GHWB refused to take Bill Clinton seriously, insisting that he didn't come from the "right kind of family" to MERIT the White House.
Sarah will probably add the Governor of Guam to her resume. She will think that will demonstrate she has foreign relations experience.
