Damn! How satisfying is it to see this whole ridiculous story talked about on national television?
(H/T to Palingates for the video.)
Update: This guy was kind enough to write out the whole transcipt even as he damns Andrew for attacking Queen Ester.
Update 2: Huffington Post has the story up as well. So if you all would not mind taking a moment to comment, it would be much appreciated.
This was Great! Now lets see who has the cojones to run with it!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat story is like the Appalachian trail story!
I love it! Go Andrew, GO!!!
ReplyDeleteLet's hope Joy can get a few words in about this on today's View -- that is before Bill shuts her up.
Keep at it, guys!

Can't wait for the FB rant!!!
ReplyDeleteAndrew Sullivan - You are FANTASTIC! So much smarter and more articulate than Sarah Palin. The GOP needs people like Andrew Sullivan or they are lost forever.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to be dull, but will somebody please tell me what H/T means, as in H/T to Palingates...
ReplyDeleteI actually TRYING to keep up.
Thanks!
H/T = Hat Tip, as in "I tip my hat to......"
ReplyDeleteA polite acknowledgement to another party who originally provided the info.
From me, a BIG H/T to Andrew Sullivan!
Thanks, ella! I agree: and HUGE H/T to Andrew Sullivan.
ReplyDeleteI hope someone from one of the MSM stations was watching and will invite him on their show and he can tell MORE. Oprah??? Are you there? Hello?
I read the transcript from the "other" guy. His last comment is incredible."...the hatred the left has for this women and her family is breathtaking." Is this person that ignorant?
ReplyDeleteSullivan is a conservative!
I guess so. They all live in a dream world. Her lies proven with facts and no one wants to listen.
To 10catsinMD:
ReplyDeleteBut he's a gay conservative. So he doesn't count.
DUH.
the comments to the transcript are downright scary.
ReplyDeleteSP is not liked because she is a fraud and a liar. Politics aside, she's a very dangerous person who has a long history of abusing her power. This is what the right fail to understand. We "lefties" find her quite dangerous because she is completely nutters and has a nutter following quite cultish in nature. She must be stopped. I think it's time for them to have their kool-aid, now.
ReplyDelete-ske in atx
Sarah loves MONEY.
ReplyDeleteShe might agree to a Pay-per-view debate or a question-answer session with Andrew.
I would pay to watch.
I didn't know what H/T was either. A H/T to Andrew Sullivan who is a very smart articulate man & also a H/T to the tomato thrower, although I do wish his aim had been better. You know, I wonder if MSM & RNC are just waiting for the "book tour" to finish & then they are going to throw the book at the ex gov. The people Sarah has criticized don't seem to me to be people who take this kind of bashing lightly. Steve Schmidt, Katie Couric, Wooten etc. come out come out whereever you are. Although Levi isn't saying much he is the only one getting a lot of air time & he is believable. When he says she was never in the kitchen, or that Bristol raised Piper & Trig , or that Todd & Palin never slept together you believe him.
ReplyDeleteGryphen: what can we do for Andrew? I am thinking of sending him a letter even by snailmail; just really want him to know how much his courage is appreciated.
ReplyDeleteFor all the people that cannot accept that we do not believe and trust Sarah Palin and want to promote it to hate. This is what I say to you all.
ReplyDeleteI don't hate Sarah Palin. I as a REAL AMERICAN want to debate her. I have nothing to do with the media, I am not a registered democrat I am a REAL AMERICAN WOMAN that thinks Sarah is Full of Shit!!!!!
So if Sarah is the REAL DEAL like her minons say. Let Sarah start debating REAL AMERICAN WOMEN that don't use DS babies as props!!!!!
I am ready for a debate anytime.
Lynn SoCal
Epic Fail...again.
ReplyDeleteThis is still going nowhere...
Sorry folks no cookie today.
Sullivan gave no facts, just opinions. The MSM will not pick it up without facts. period.
You look like vindictive hate mongers because all you do is give opinions. Maybe someone will listen if you throw in a fact or two. A fact you can prove.
If you cant prove it, why dont you just leave the poor woman alone.
@Lynn, you are saying what I started saying last year (but I am a registered Dem).
ReplyDeleteI, too, would LOVE to debate her. Palin would be relatively EASY to debate for a thinking woman. It would be like on Oprah, where Oprah asked her "So is that a yes or a no?" Just trying to pin her down on issues would be the hard part, since she gives 95% non-answers, instead spewing religious code and teabagging buzzwords.
Can you imagine Hillary Clinton debating Palin? Or even Chelsea? Give me Whoopi Goldberg debating Palin. OMG.
@8:00 - If this is going nowhere, why are you here? You must be worried.
ReplyDeleteWake up call to you - It's already gone somewhere. And all Andrew Sullivan did was ask logical QUESTIONS. It wasn't "opinion."
Wait a sec: everyone questions why the flight attendents didn't notice she was preggers on the Dallas-AK flight, but what about the flight TO Dallas? Wasn't she 8 months at the beginning of the trip??? How was she allowed to ever even take this trip?
ReplyDelete@7:49 Anon- Sullivan stated facts. ADN reported, that Alaska Airlines attendants, did not know she was pregnant. Other "facts"- if you want to call them that, is right from Sarah's book, talking about her former miscarriages, knowing ahead that her child was special needs, etc..She was high risk and so was the baby. So there you have it - the "facts" - so, the question is: Why didn't Sarah go to the hospital?
ReplyDeleteI love the part when Andrew said that a real feminist faces her toughest critics and does not accept double standards.
ReplyDeleteSarah Palin is a coward.
ReplyDeletePalin and simple, she is not the birth mother of Trig Palin.
A proud mother would have made the issue go away over a year ago by just producing the documents every birth mother in America already has. In fact, it's the law in every US state to have those documents. But Sarah does not - and the reason is because she is not the birth mother of Trig Palin.
To Anon @ 8:00 --
ReplyDeleteWhoopie debate Palin? Yeah, that would be quite amusing... but the real popcorn moment would be Racheal Maddow vs. Palin. Now *that's* something I would pay to watch! ;-)

OMG, the comments on that site you linked to for the transcript made me want to take a bath when I finished skimming them.
ReplyDeleteI've decided Sarah's Sycophants are all jealous of Obama--they're jealous of his accomplishments, intelligence, education, strong and successful wife, beautiful and happy children, all of which he managed to achieve despite being brought up half-black by a single mother. It makes them angry and disturbs them on a fundamental level, since it makes them realize they have no excuse for being such losers. That's why they're always accusing those who dislike Palin of being "jealous"--it's called projection.
HP now has the Sullivan/Behar tapes up on the front page
ReplyDeletehttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/08/andrew-sullivan-talks-bec_n_384003.html
IF you haven't had lunch yet, read the comments below that ARTICLE. The ignorance astounds me.
ReplyDeleteMr. Sullivan was BRAVE to go on the Joy's show in the first place, and SMART enough to use Sarah's words, and Sarah's words ONLY to tell the story of the Wild Ride.
Gryphen and Andrew:
ReplyDeleteI had a virtual drawing and you both won!!!! drum roll:
A pair of insillated, steel toed, EX-TRA TUFF rubber packs from southeast!
Thanks for all our your BS&T (blood, sweat and tears) in settin' the record straight.
He>l yeah! Cheers!
It's crazy watching Palin develop herself into a God like figure so that when the crap does hit the fan, those people won't care anyway. Because...you know God made her do beg, borrow and steal her way to the top.
Alaskan Sisu / Xango_Xango also too!
Alaskan Sisu
Thank you Andrew Sullivan!!! And thanks Gryphen for posting the clip. Surely, KO and Rachel will now pick this up. I loved the term he used to describe Palin's thought process "magical realism". And Sarah if you or your sheeples are reading this. Go back and listen very carefully to the part when Andrew said it is your job to answer questions. And just a little tip here, it would really help if you could make a concerted effort to answer them coherently so that we can figure out what the hell you are talking about. Because your explanation of Trig's birth just does not make sense. And you cannot put the toothpaste back in the tube Buttercup. This is not going away.
ReplyDeleteSullivan's target is the exposure of the McCain campaign's attempt to foist an unstable person on the American electorate. Palin is and was a mere pawn. I think Sullivan's strategy is to show McCain's team deliberately and wantonly ignored the warning flags in the wild ride story as told by Palin. The wild ride is a tale of blatant disregard for the safety of an innocent baby. Palin is PROUD of that disregard... sufficient reason for excluding her from the VEEP run. Sullivan has no need to go into the actual events of the birth of Trig Palin.
ReplyDeleteJust checked the story on huffpost and it's not getting very many comments at all. And what comments there are are not concentrating on exposing Palin and her faked pregnancy. That indicates that this is not being well received by Americans on the left. It also indicates to me that the dam is not breaking and it's unlikely that Rachel Maddow or anyone else who is high profile is going to pick up the ball and carry it.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, indications are just as good now that the story will never be broken as they are that we will ever see the mainstream knowing the truth.
This poses a huge problem. If Palin is not exposed then it's clear that she has some kind of magnetism which could continue to raise her popularity. I believe the American people are indeed capable of electing her as their president. They elected Bush 2! It has become so possible that immediate and concentrated action against her must be taken.
Do whatever it takes to expose her, just as Gryphen is trying to do. Do it now!
Luv frum Canada.
I loved the clip, but he really means "magical thinking" -- the childlike belief that you can change reality by thinking it otherwise. Magic Realism is the literary style of authors such as Toni Morrison and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Please do not insult the greats!
ReplyDeleteMagical realism ... Angela Carter's The Bloody Chamber:
ReplyDeleteAnd, ah! his castle. The faery solitude of the place; with its turrets of misty blue, ...
But, here, it would be easy to be content. In the turret suite he had given me for my very own, I could gaze out over Lake Lucille and imagine myself the Queen of Alaska.
HELP!
ReplyDeleteI started a new TOPIC on The View's message board! To keep it on top of the list though, it needs NEW REPLIES ...
Please go there and Congratulate JOY on being a HERO last night and keep the thread going!
http://theview.abc.go.com/forum/joy-behar-hero (you will have to register, but it only takes a minute1)
THANKS
Will Trig's real mother please step forward & reclaim your child. If you've been watching tv recently you'll see that his mean & evil step mother is not treating him well....no glasses, no hearing aid...no shoes....no warm clothing...just an overinflated ego & a severe case of narcissism.
ReplyDeleteThanks Archivist for the View post; please everyone do comment. Joy did a great service by having Andrew on her show. And yes shame on Opray and Barbara for letting a real opportunity get away. I have just commented there and also at HuffPo Gryphen. And what is with Anon@10:40am about Shannyn?
ReplyDeleteOops, Oprah! Got to watch that spelling.
ReplyDeleteGryphen - thanks for this post and the link to the transcript.
ReplyDeleteArchivist - Good work!
It also might help if Rachel, Keith and Jon Stewart get some requests to interview Andrew Sullivan.
Andrew has added the video to the Daily Dish along with this intriguing comment:
"Not as interesting as the Green Room, but you might enjoy the razzing I get at the end of the segment."
Oh, how I'd love to know more about the 'interesting' Green Room conversation between Andrew and Levi.
Anon 8:38:
ReplyDeleteWhile your argument that Palin and her pathetic followers are jealous of Obama because he is intelligent, etc. is a logical one, you forget these morons do not aspire to be any of the things that Obama is. They are too happy living their blissfully ignorant existence.
Andrew Sullivan was great. I'm glad he had the balls to put all of Sarah's bullshit out there. It remains to be seen whether others in the MSM will follow suit, but this story is far from over. It will be the thorn in her side along with Levi.
I agree with Sullivan that this will be Oprah's second book scandal and perhaps even bigger than James Frey was for her. I didn't watch the Oprah/Palin interview in it's entirety, so I don't know if Oprah was necessarily "promoting" her book or if she was ceasing the opportunity to interview the very dumb SP, but either way, it will come back to haunt Oprah.
OT but VERY IMPORTANT!
ReplyDeleteHere's an action you can take today to show your support for progressive politics.
Former Governor Sarah Palin's book went on sale November 17 and even though a man got arrested at the Mall of America signing event yesterday, her book's selling - well. Despite the errors already revealed, it'll be tough to topple. But for just one day, Tuesday, December 8, let's try to make the sales of David Plouffe's The Audacity to Win -- his inside account of President Obama's historic victory -- overtake Palin's Going Rogue.
If you haven't bought Plouffe's book yet, purchase your copy today, Tuesday, December 8. If you have, spread the word to everyone you know -- and consider buying your family and friends copies as holiday gifts!
Buy your copy of The Audacity to Win today. I did it. Join me.
Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders - wherever you get your books. Spread the word: #beatpalin4aday
David Plouffe is asking us to buy today 12/08 to send Palin and her rabid followers a message. Pass it on!
I just watched it again. the interview with Barbara Walters when she is talking about bristols pregnancy, sarah said it was only the 2nd or 3rd time they had talked to Levi, yet last night Levi said they were together for 3 years. How could that be?
ReplyDeleteWhy is Sarah so ashamed of the fact that she adopted Trig?
ReplyDeleteDoesn't the anti-choice lobby like to push adoption? Don't abort your baby because there is a happy upper middle class couple (just like Sarah and Todd) ready to adopt each and every unwanted baby.
So, what is Sarah hiding? Why did she fake an immaculate conception (because we all know Sarah and God -- oops I mean Todd -- aren't getting it on anymore).
I think the comment about Shannny may be that Gryphen and Shanny proclaim to know info that would take Palin down but refuse to release because they are protecting their sources. More like protecting their 15 minutes of fame if you ask me which you aren't.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 1:41 You are spot on. I've been ranting about this for weeks.
ReplyDeleteSarah's book would have gone from gold to platinum. She would have become the heroine and head of the New GOP if she had written the chapter, "Why I adopted Trig, the True Story."
ReplyDeleteSarah could have said anything-- covering for Bristol to save a young teen embarrassment, covering for someone close to Sarah, whose identy need not be revealed, but the mother could not cope with the idea of DS child. It could have been a child that her church knew of, and Sarah's gracious heart just opened up.
Sarah's belief in "Every Life is Precious" would have been enhanced if she explained that at first, she pretended to say she gave birth to Trig because she thought that was the easiest explanation. But, with all of the inquiry and questioning, it was time to step up, take responsibility, and tell people that adoption is the best choice (over alternatives).
This would have been the moment for the Academy Award performance, Oscar, Emmy and Tony awards all rolled into one. I could even write the script, "At first, I just wanted to help a troubled young mother, but from the moment I saw little Trig, gulp, pause to wipe away a tear, I just knew that I was meant to be Trig's real mother, sob."
But, Sarah cannot retract the Wild Ride story that Chuck Heath spun for reporters. And, she can't retract that foolish business about disguising a pregnancy with the dance of the seven veils, I mean scarves.
Like former President Bush, Sarah cannot admit a mistake, remember an error that she might have made, it is always some else's fault. Besides, Sarah has been so creative in her explanations in the past, and no one ever questioned what she said then, this time should be no different.

ReplyDeleteAnon @ 12:25pm:
ReplyDeleteLevi has been around the Palin household quite frequently in the last fews years as documented in Todd Palin's Esquire Interview from last year:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/10/levi-johnston-in-iesquire_n_185728.html
Go Sarah
ReplyDeleteSTOP the Kenyan Muslim Socialist
Kill the HCR Bill
Stop gay marriage and fags like Sullivan
Put Sarah in the WH in 2012
nice find AkPetMom - another gem for the fact checking!!
ReplyDeletePalin affirmed Chuck Heath's water break story in her interview shortly after the April 18 presentation of Trig. So Chuck is merely a secondary source. Sarah Palin says in the audio recording that's what happened. Serval sites have the audio - it aint goin' away.
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 3:30
ReplyDeleteIs that you again? Will you never learn? The next presidential election is in 2012. Whomever is elected will begin their term on January 20, 2013. Therefore, no one will be "put in the WH in 2012."
Are you really that ignorant, or do you just like being obnoxious? Have a feeling that it's both.
Did you know, Anon @ 3:30, that in ancient Egypt, being born there did not automatically guarantee citizenship? Instead, once a person reached the age of about 16, or so, they were required to know about the country's laws. If they chose ignorance, they were denied citizenship. Hmmm, maybe that wasn't such a bad idea. It sure would eliminate ignoramuses like you from screwing things up for the rest of us.
A "pretended to" story might hack it for Citizen Palin or at a stretch Gov. Palin, but for VEEP-candidate Palin it is a complete failure. It is not the tale of a person stable enough to be a possible POTUS.
ReplyDeleteBesides, if one told the vet team your only skeleton in the closet was a D in a college couse, you can not suddenly drag out a huge skeleton like a "pretend" birth.
crickets from SP - except for mindless ranting about Copenhagen and climate change - she is at her height of ignorance today. Even says "public
ReplyDeleteis LEARY...." HUH? Like Timothy Leary?
Like her followers - cannot spell and PROUD OF IT.
AKPetMom - You reminded me that the talk of Levi dating Bristol for 3 years originated with the Palins. Do you (or does anyone) recall whether it was the Oprah or BW interview when Sarah said Levi had only been to the house 1 or 2 times when they announced Bristol's pregnancy?
ReplyDeleteLove Andrew Sullivan.
ReplyDeleteNPR interview with 3 women (Dem,Rep,& Ind.) and their critique of Palin book.
Interesting notes/contradictions (I didn't read book, so can't confirm):
* First account of Trig birth in book talks about who was there at hospital but never mentions Palin's father. Second account of Trig birth says Palin's father was there to see him "pop out."
* Republican discusses the contradictions between the two abbreviated "wild ride" stories Palin gives in book.
* Democrat talks about how Palin contemplates abortion, but wants to take that right away from all other women.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=46
Go Andrew!
ReplyDeleteSo glad Joy had the guts to have him on, AND to invite him for a second interview. He was poised, well prepared, and very believable.
The people that believe she starved hoping to have a miscarriage, instead of an abortion, are totally off the mark. If she did this, it's deliberate child abuse of a baby(by their definition) who already has many obsticles and challenges to meet.
I don't know what "God" she believes in, but I doubt he's the one from any bible.
While a big part of me believes the other GOP POTUS candidates will tear her down in the primary process, part of me wonders.
ReplyDeleteToday is the primary to fill Ted Kennedy's Senate seat. MA is well-known for sending Dems to Congress. We had four candidates from the Democratic party - 3 men and one woman. Despite the fact that Marth Coakley was the front runner from the start, the male candidates treated her gingerly.
God help us all if Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Tim Pawlenty, etc. don't take off the gloves agains the Quitta from Wasilla.
MacAndCheese, I would think that deliberately trying to force a miscarriage would make Ms.Palin look bad even in the eyes of her most ardent supporters.
I'm a little tired of the Palinbots saying that until we get some hard facts the MSM won't do a story. Since when is it the duty of the public to do all the sleuthing and hand to the media the full story, facts and all, before they will do some journalism, or ask any hard (and obvious) questions to a public figure?
ReplyDeleteAndrew Sullivan was not in the least hateful. He even pointed out that Jesus loves Glen Beck and that Christianity is about loving your enemies, not just your friends.
"Why is Sarah so ashamed of the fact that she adopted Trig?"
ReplyDeleteIt may not be a legal adoption. There is something shady to hide.
Hey, thanks, Anon at 3:30, for so succinctly describing Palin's political platform:
ReplyDelete"Go Sarah
STOP the Kenyan Muslim Socialist
Kill the HCR Bill
Stop gay marriage and fags like Sullivan
Put Sarah in the WH in 2012"
