It's slightly terrifying that I have found myself agreeing with Hitchens about twice so far in one month.
ReplyDeleteBut I guess even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Though, this time he is so spot on.
When the man is on, as he was this morn on Joe, he gets his point across with a venomous verbal dexterity matched by no one else. Let him loose one on one in a debate with Sarah Palin on ANY topic... PLEASE! I'd pay any price to see that.

love the line about the knife and fork!! one of my fave lines by him was right after falwell died - he said on hannity and colmes: "if you gave falwell and enema he could be buried in a matchbox" OUCH harsh and true.
look forward to hearing hitchens speak more truths about palin. the guy never disappoints.

She is a coward. Hitchens would wipe the floor with her, and she knows it. But I will log on and ask him as a Christmas present to challenge her, just to see what her excuse would be. Remember how she laughed nervously when Dr. Laura asked her if she would debate Al Gore. Miss Quitty Pants is also Miss Scaredy Pants.

This just occurred to me. When the stupid people take back their country, what will we smart people do?
ReplyDeleteWill they still allow us to run important industries such as banking and the technological sector, or will they just throw us under the bus and proclaim that all we do is unimportant to them? No more mortgages or cheap computers or DSL connections to support online usage?
I think that "smart people" are in charge of major retail outlets as well, so will the smart people that run Wal Mart be out of a job? Will retail stores also fall by the wayside when the stupid people take back their country? Will there be no more $29 king sized cheap cotton sheets for the masses? No more $6.99 beef or turkey jerky? Perish the thought indeed.
Perhaps the stupids should think twice before taking their country back from the people that actually make it work.

HITCHENS V PALIN BRING IT ON, SUCKER!
Yesterday on Huffington Post (I think), someone said that when the teabaggers yell about taking America back, he replies, "I'm taking America forward." I agree with that wholeheartedly because why would we want to take our country back to a mythological 1950s or whenever they seem to think they want? I like the idea of taking America forward, as in sustainable energy, tolerance for others' beliefs, universal health care, etc.
ReplyDeleteI would also like to see Scarah debate Hitchens and/or Gore, but realistically I know it will never happen. She said it herself when Laura Ingraham asked if she would debate Al Gore - he would have to come down to her level to debate her. She realizes she is nowhere near smart enough to debate anyone other than the cat, and even the cat would probably end up being far more intelligent and well-spoken.
AK Pet Mom - you make a very good point with the stupids. We've seen that they can't think for themselves, can't question, can't be curious, can't study (not even the Holy Bible), can't spell, have no reading comprehension even if they manage to read with phonetics. The vortex due to lack of intelligent leadership, development both cultural & scientific, would create a rush for power throughout the world since our land & resources are coveted by many.
