Teabagging moron consumed with fear that imprecatory prayer may have killed the WRONG Senator!

He was apparently concerned that -- after following Sen. Tom Coburn's (R-OK) instructions to pray that someone couldn't make a manager's amendment vote Sunday night -- his prayers for Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) to die struck the wrong senator.

"Our small tea bag group here in Waycross, we got our vigil together and took Dr. Coburn's instructions and prayed real hard that Sen. Byrd would either die or couldn't show up at the vote the other night," the caller said.

I love three things about this video. I love that the caller refers to his group as "teabaggers". I love Sen. John Barrasso's face as it slowly dawns on him how shamefully ignorant his supporters are. And I love that that there is tape of someone acknowledging that Senator Coburn's call for prayer, was indeed a call to pray for the death of a Senator of the United States of America.

I wonder if Senator Coburn could be brought up on charges if one of his colleagues suddenly kicks the bucket? Or if they have any of that grainy nightvision 20/20 like video of the Senator kneeling by his bed making his imprecatory prayer as hard as he can. Maybe they could get God to wear a wire.

Damn these people are ignorant.

    Gryph,,
Not only did the pray not work in terms of Sen. Byrd, but one of their own Senators didn't make the vote, but most importantly,
the caller said a member of his own Tea Bag group actually died, he believe as a result of the prayer backfiring.

What kind of God are they praying to with prayers of death?

I think the caller mighthave been punking the shameful Senator. Notice the Senator only addressed the Inhofe part of the phone call but not the disgusting part about how this teabagger's prayer group prayed for the death of Senator Byrd. If Barasso had any integrity he would have denied that Senator Coburn really wanted the death of a fellow senator - but he didn't. The look on his face was priceless and the caller was absolutely hysterical!

I think he said he was afraid "one of our members" died, meaning Sen. Inhofe, not one of his Tea Bag group.

It could be that this called was punking Barrasso. I can't believe these people are THAT stupid!

    Or...

PWNAGE! No way do I believe that caller was not a hoax. I loved it, and can we just pause to reflect that Barasso didn't even have the human decency to respond to the caller's call for a Senator's death? Not quite the time for selective hearing, Senator- -- silence IS consent.

Huh? Who knows what the caller was talking about. He started crying when he said "One of our members died" wondering if Sen. Barrasso didn't pray hard enough, but the C-SPAN lady said he was referring to Republican Sen. Inhofe, who missed the vote.

The fact that people like this caller can vote is enough to make you sick to your stomach. The level of ignorance and stupidity is truly frightening.

  7. The whole point of this conversation is (to me) that someone who believes in god would

1- pray for HARM to someone else to that god
2- expect god to answer that prayer
3- believe their god made a mistake and harmed someone else

Is that what good Xtians do? PRAY for harm to someone else? Expect 'their god' to answer their prayer?

Are we to believe that idiot morons like the teabagger on the phone...actually watch C-SPAN???

    I think not!!!

    Total PWNAGE

Also too, good on Barasshole for not denouncing Coburn's 'Call to prayer' when given an opportunity....what a douchebag

  9. Welcome to south Georgia! I knew immediately when I heard Waycross and the deep southern accent that this man was from GA. This man is representative of Georgians all over the state. They watch Fuchs Noose and listen to the do do headed republicans in Congress. They are truly frightened that Obama is president. Why? I really don't know, except to postulate that here many whites have an ingrained mistrust of any person of color. I taught school for 33 years after being among the first AAs to graduate from the University of GA way back in 1974, but someone like this man would walk into my classroom every year that I taught, and subtly let me know that he/she wondered whether I was qualifiied to teach his/her child. I think it was a way of putting me in my place. There were faculty members in my own dept. who actually said TO ME that UGA was "giving" diplomas to everybody during the time I attended the college. So, it's not just the uneducated that are like this caller. Some members of my dept. also had earned degrees from UGA, but somehow, they felt the need to delegitimize my degree. Nevermind that @96% of my students always passed the state required U.S. History test needed to graduate. This man is not faking. I live in Middle GA, and I can testify that this state is full of people just like him. You cannot change their minds about anything related to Obama. If Beck and the do do heads in Congress say it, it's final!

  10. I don't know if he was punked or not. I mean, do they really watch C-Span, as someone above mentioned? If he punked him, great!!

If not ... the ignorance is staggering.

    And sad.

That he didn't say, "What in the hell are you talking about? I don't pray for people to die!" about says it all, doesn't it. And yet they think they know Jesus? Egads!

I'm not sure what you thought you saw -- I watched the tape, and saw no realization pass the man's face. He listened to the caller, he blinked -- but was blank faced. Gryph, I think that you are being wishful, because Barrasso stayed on message and didn't react to the caller at all. I won't say you are being Foxy, though! Even though sometimes they put up tape that doesn't match their "reporting".

Morb320: Well, I'd subtly suggest the same thing, if I ran across a teacher that misspelled "doo-doo head" while postulating. You just might have been trying too hard.

It was a hoax but it was so cleverly pulled off that Coburn couldn't take the chance of calling it a hoax at the moment. Beautiful!

Oh, I think there was definitely a fully explosive range of expression crossing Barrasso's face!
My problem was that I thought he was Stephen Colbert at first!

What about the fact that Senator Coburn is a medical doctor. Isn't calling for prayer for someone to die (or be very, very sick) against the Hippocratic Oath he took as a physician?

    The Modern Oath:

I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:
I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.

I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism.

I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.

I will not be ashamed to say "I know not," nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery.

I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty.

Above all, I must not play at God.
I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.

I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.

I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.

If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.

  18. I am so disappointed that The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are on hiatus. I can't wait for them to come back and catch up on all of the fun. This is so going to make both shows. I'll bet Colbert makes it a Word.

I can't believe that anyone professing to be a Christian would actually pray for someone to die. Just another confirmation by a holier than thou religious type who would kill in the name of Christ. I am sick to death of these kinds of "christians" and honestly, it should be an embarrassment to be considered a christian nation with the views held by far too many people in your country. Sad sad sad.

  22. Gingrich says when the Republicans take back the house they're going to give Bachmann a chairmanship.

    Right.

How many teabaggers does he think they have? Enough to put the Republicans back in power? Really? They teabaggers won't alienate the sane Republicans? Really?

And he really thinks he still has influence and anyone listens to him?

Does he have delusions of being the nominee in 2012?

anon@8:21: Totally agreed. Barasso did not turn a hair when the caller talked about praying for Senator Byrd to die. He didn't look horrified at all - or even uncomfortable.

It is a totally sad day for our country when Senators do not denounce the idea of a Sitting Senator urging people to pray for a fellow Senator's death.

To me, it did not matter whether he was being punked - he did not find it abhorrent what the caller was suggesting.

These Repukes are horrible people. (And they do certainly give the appearance they are all rabid racist jerks).

Anybody who like me, last night, saw the articles and did not listen to the video, you really must listen to it. This man is scary as hell. He was truly afraid that their prayer had missed the Democratic Senator they had prayed to die and had killed a Republican Senator.

Un_ucking believable, except it's there on tape.

We need to stand up and expose the republican party for what they are a big group of douche bags. They say they are for the troops we should demand that they explain why they wouldn't vote for a funding the troops. They claim they like seniors then we should ask them why they want others to pray that a 92 year old gets sick or dies. How could they force Senator Byrd to show up twice at 1 in the morning just to vote. I cried when Rachel showed the video of Senator Byrd where he said Shame on you. Shame! Shame! What he doesn't understand is that they have no shame anymore. We need to vote McCain,Vitter, Blunt, Burr, Shelby, Murkowski, Isakson, Crapo, Grassley, Coburn, DeMint, Thune, and finally Bennent out of office. They didn't want to help the unemployed then its time to make them unemployed.

Are they saying God sent the hitman to the wrong address? or that God makes mistakes?

Invest in aluminum foil, people! They'll be wearing aluminum foil helmets to direct God's death rays to the right person while praying real hard!
