Brit Hume, forgetting that he works for Fox News and not Pat Robertson's CBN, decides to lead Tiger Woods to Jesus. Isn't that special?

Okay putting all of my feelings about Fox News and organized religions aside, who in their right mind would take spiritual advice from Brit Hume? I mean really?

So Hume's advice to Tiger is to switch from Buddhism to Christianity because they have a better "get out of purgatory free" program? Oh yeah that is some solid religious advice for you.

Just for the record Buddhism does not offer "salvation" per se but rather the opportunity to reach Nirvana which would allow you to be free from suffering and beyond earthly concers. And Christian Salvation is the deliverance from danger or suffering.

So you can see the difference. Oh you can't? Well with Christianity you also get the Fox News seal of approval and, according to Brit Hume, your wife will forgive you and stop smacking you in the head with your own golf clubs.

Yeah, it worked so very well for that Sanford guy. Well, maybe he doesn't still have his wife, but heck, he's still got his job.

Maybe Rev. Ted Haggard could help Tiger with his immoral urges...

  4. I'm waiting for an expose on Brit Hume. Something about these self-righteous people makes you suspicious.

  6. Okay, here is my 2 cents as a long time somewhat Christian (although very liberal) and regular church goer. The link you have posted to define salvation is weak. Salvation in the Christian sense is deliverance from separation from God, due to sin. By becoming a Christian one is "saved" from one's sin, and can go to heaven. I didn't make this up, I'm just explaining. I think Brit Hume came off as a nutcase trying to lecture Tiger Woods. Personally I think the Buddhist have some great concepts. This spreading of theology and spiritual advice has no place on a "news channel". How can anyone watch this drivel?

Fox News is showing their true colors. Obviously they are on board with the rapture and salvation can only be found with Jeebus! The Domionists have made it to Fox....What happened to true journalism? Just asking....

Buddhism focuses on compassion and tolerance of others regardless of their beliefs which is something that Fox News sorely lacks.

I'd rather be a Buddhist than a hypocrite Christian any day!

I'm nit even going to dignify that idiot's sanctimonious prosteletyzing on a supposedly unbiased, secular news forum with a comment - but I'm going to make an observation about Tiger.

Remember he was a pretty goofy, scrawny guy forever. an ambiguous minority in a very elite sport.

Then he started bulking up under some hard core strength training. Vanity Fair is coming out with their Feb. Edition where he is shirtless and looks hot to trot. I think that Tiger just finally came into his alter-ego, and was/is acting out.
    Sexually, aggressively.

He was demurred, humiliated and is being punished for getting caught - but I think we all know the number of the rich and famous that have the same appetites but don't get caught. I tell ya, aside from feeling fir his wife and family, he sure turned himself into a sexy man in these eyes.

  12. Hume needs to be drop-kicked between God's goalposts.

  13. But weren't Keith and his guest spot on - Hume and his adulturous peer group of fundies all say its a great deal to be Xtian. Sin and repent. All is fixed.

  14. MXM: They were spot on and it is a great deal in the Xtian mind. Not only forgiveness, but help in paying off mistresses families & whatever else is needed to cover up & spin the SIN! The arrogance is beyond belief.

People ask why the moderate Muslims don't speak out against the radical Muslim fundamentalists. I ask why the moderate Christians don't rise up and speak out against our own Xtian fundamentalist. They are equally guilty of spreading hate and division wherever they go.

"...with Christianity you also get the Fox News seal of approval ... wife ... golf clubs."

See? Foxes, seals, women, golf... religion is really just a sport to the far-right :)

  16. Wow. I thought Brit Hume was already dead.

If he looked a little closer he would realize that Tiger has already joined the ranks of hypocritical C-Streeters....he doesn't need to convert to be a cheating liar and phony.

  18. I read up on Mr. Hume. Perhaps he does find consolation in being a Christian. He has been married twice and has been reported to be having an affair.
His son,Sandy, committed suicide in 1998 and was reported to have been gay.
These are all things that Mr.Hume,as a Christian has to work with and reconcile with his religious beliefs.
However, consider the republicans who have committed acts not in line with their Christian beliefs, even while living in a supposed Christian apt. on K street.
I am sure they are/will be given a pass for their behaviors.

How arrogant Mr. Hume is to make a remark like that. He does not even know the basics of Buddhism.
Yet, he assumes that Mr. Wood's affairs would be more acceptable by his fans because he switched religions? Because he became a Christian?
Oh that's right. There has been a long list of politicians that have done similar things and had worse behaviors, but because they repented and found Jesus, there was no penalties to pay.

  19. Thanks for checking up on the past of Mr. Hume dianedp. Somehow, this doesn't surprise me at all. I am sorry for the loss of his son, but honestly all this holier than thou crap just makes me crazy. Isn't that wonderful that Brit is so concerned about Tiger? Yes, just sin, say you are sorry, accept Jesus and all is forgiven and life is happily ever after. Oh, yeah as skj said, don't forget to donate. That's actually the most important part.
