Okay kids! Clear you television schedule for Sunday night, because "60 Minutes" is the show to watch!
Watch CBS News Videos Online
Palin had a reflexive tendency to refer to Biden as "O'Biden," Schmidt revealed. He says other people on the campaign staff came up with a solution. "It was multiple people -- and I wasn't one of them-- who all said at the same time, 'Just say, 'Can I call you Joe?'' which she did."
Oh THIS is going to be sooo good!
We could turn this is into a drinking game!
Every time Steve Schmidt says "debacle", "not focused", "not participating", or "not prepared" we take a shot. I bet you we can be completely hammered before we can get even halfway through the segment!
Update: Here is some more video of Schmidt.
Oh this is just getting better and better!

I would like, just once, to hear the words "Caribou Barbie" come out of his mouth. Then my life would be complete...
ReplyDeleteWhat is wrong with her that she can't say Biden? My guess is that her pea-sized brain is just "wired" that way. Why don't we start calling her O'Palin or Ole Palin is more like it since she is a granny.
ReplyDeleteI'm IN....you better be live blogging this, gryphen ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhoa Nelly! The preview they showed of Schmidt today on CBS Morning News shows the gloves are off!
ReplyDeleteSchmidt calls her a liar about AIP and Troopergate results!
If they are going to run these promo's a couple of days before Sunday, that should give Meg plenty of time to come back with some of Sarah's zingers.
ReplyDeleteGryphen will have to open another game for "Guess whose fault it was, because it's never Sarah's fault" or "What's the excuse this time?"
"This is going to be sooo good!"
ReplyDeleteWTF?
The only reason this will be so good is that if Schmidt has said that "she more than held her own", it will tank him. Success.
He's playing this out both sides of his mouth in order to keep himself in the mix for the next campaign. This has nothing to do with tanking Palin.
Quit overselling this like the MSM as it's already clearly BS.
Anderson Cooper now on 60 Min. He who 'keeps them honest' - horseshit. He's never gone back to an issue where he's stated that to reveal 'he' actually did the job to keep them honest.
G - You gain brownie points and then you post this, overselling it and you tank yourself.
Gryphen, can you post the 60 Minutes Show on your blog? I'm in Mexico and don't have much hope of seeing it on television here. I really don't want to miss it! And, again, thanks for all your great blogs. I am so hooked on them. It's almost the first thing I look at when I go online in the morning (after Doonesbury, Frank & Ernest, and Dilbert...forgive me.)
ReplyDeleteHere is another video where he says she lied about troopergate!!!

Anon @ 8:42, Great post. This could be the iceberg!
ReplyDeleteI bet O'Palin's enemy list is growing longer each day.
ReplyDeleteI think she couldn't keep Biden and Obama straight because in her little mind she was running for President against Obama, forget Joe Biden. I think Sarah has played that "wink wink" folksy shit for so long, she has forgotten, or never developed, the ability to simply speak like a grown up. That was not a debate that night. That was Biden answering the questions and Sarah checking her cheat-sheet for a talking point that maybe possibly tied in loosely to the question. You could watch her scan down the list, find one she liked, and it was like a tape recorder turning on. Like one of those old table top juke boxes when you drop your dime and push the button for B17.
ReplyDeleteWho is more credible? Steve Schmidt or Sarah Palin.
ReplyDeleteI'm voting for Steve Schmidt.
Even if he is a Republican. At least he's a credible one.
This is like when a dam get a little break and then there's pressure and a coule of drips and then some spurts and finally (hopefully) the entire thing will crumple.
ReplyDeleteSchmidt flat out calls her a liar about how she characterizes things. **jumpy claps jumpy claps**
Without a doubt that will be television worth viewing. There is more for those interested in teens and BSMP, LLC.
ReplyDeleteIf you are over 25 the name of Bristol Palin may be secondary for you. Who cares about the critical and serious problems with preteen and teen sex? Who cares what happens to all the babies? What matters are the few that are available for adoption. There is an attitude that Bristol Palin's name doesn't matter because she is a celebrity that effects the young and the unpopular subject of teen pregnancy. When Bristol is 50 she will be known for her impact on unwed teens and teen sex. It is her niche. No matter how much the over 25 people think she is unimportant, that is just not true. If you want more unprepared people to populate our country, Bristol Palin is your woman.
Alaska has massive lands and abundant resources, not so for other places. Can Bristol keep the unwed teen births limited to Alaska or is the problem going to continue to spread across the nation? At least, babies are cute but what to do with them if they grow up? Send your inquiries to BSMP, LLC where consulting and public relations are the order of the day.
The Pregnancy Pact

The Pregnancy Pact takes a responsible look at the growing national trends of pregnancy and birth rates among teenagers, and we’ve taken great strides to ensure that the subject matter is depicted with sensitivity.
The Pregnancy Pact is already a controversy, but the rise in teen pregnancy is not.

Bristol Palin, like Jamie Lynn Spears, are famous celebrities that adults may pay little attention to. Not so for preteens to young adults with raging hormones. Bristol Palin and Jamie Lynn Spears are role models for young baby mommas. Their numbers are growing, lot's of hungry mouths to feed. If you want the government out of it, double and triple your charity donations. Do more volunteer work. No time to slack, these teens and babies need you.
If you google steve schmidt 60 minutes you'll find a better extended video that includes him talking about Todds AIP membership as well
ReplyDeleteNext her supporters will bombard Schmidt with their hateful, vile emails.
ReplyDeleteI once commented on the internet how Palin damaged herself during the campaign by not being able to answer Katie Couric's question about what newspapers she read. It wasn't nasty at all and the response I got from an administrator was unbelieveable. It was a nasty, vile response with four letter words directed at me and I thought wow, this is the kind of people she attracts? They are hateful and full of anger if you disagree with their high priestess.
What ?!?! sarah is a lying sack of shit ??
ReplyDeleteThe old saying holds true, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink....Schmidt tried to make her knowledgeable but she's not capable of learning.
ReplyDeleteFor once, someone BIG says it, the report did NOT exonerate her as she so bizarrly and pointedly proclaimed. And the MSM let her do it. It was unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteOne thing I'm glad for, her stupid effort to rename her record of abuse as "Tasergate" never stuck.
This is going to be good, probably as good as it's going to get from the higher ups to admitting that she was a disasterous decision. And as long as John says they're still good friends - I'll think he's a traitor to this country.
He gave that woman a platform on a silver platter, that is a horrendous mistake that many people continue to do since her PTA days.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - she should have NEVER grown beyond the Valley.
Add "mischaracterized" to the list of words worthy of a shot!

I think 60 Minutes is on at 6pm here...will have to double check.
ReplyDeleteUsually, I miss it because I'm hangin with oldest son and the granddaughters, but I think they're busy this weekend with the snow-bird granny.

BaAA-TTER UP and S W I N G!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what Ol'McCain will say about all this since he and Ol'S'carah are such good friends.
ReplyDeleteI hope we aren't disappointed AGAIN. Too many people have let this woman slide her entire life. Be a man Steve, and tell the truth!
ReplyDeleteWay off topic but my blood is boiling.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone see Mr. 911 on GMA? "What he should be doing is following the right things that Bush did. One of the right things he did was treat this as a war on terror. We had no domestic attacks under Bush, we've have one under Obama. Number 2 he should correct the things that Bush didn't do right. Sending people to Yemen was wrong not connecting not getting this whole intelligence blah blah blah.....
WTF I remember seeing this loser walking down the street after 9-11 with the cloth to his mouth because he stupidly put the emergency center in the World Trade Center after it had already been hit years before. What kind of fucked up world do we live in where Mr. 911, Perino and Matalin can all claim that nothing happened on Sep. 11, 2001 or if it did happen it happened with someone else as President.
I HATE these people with a passion. I'm sure Palin will blame Clinton and Obama for 911 also too.
Considering the reason Palin couldn't avoid saying O'Biden, I think we should call her McPalin, not O'Palin.
ReplyDeleteOr, maybe we should just call her ignorant.
I doubt this will be Schmidt's mea culpa about O'Sarah Bin Lyin. If he is still going to be a political consultant, he will not totally decimate her the way he should, unless he points the blame at someone else.
ReplyDeleteIf Schmidt had any self respect, he would have come out a year ago and said that Sarah Palin was the biggest political fraud and hoax of all time. He can blame it on her and her incessant lying, obfuscation, and ethics challenged admisitration or whatever, but ultimately he and McCain need to apologize tto the American people fpr unleashing this monster on the rest of the United States before they can ever be taken seriously on anything EVER.
She's destroying the Republican party and I think this interview by Schmidt is to minimize the damage she's done already. A few moderate Republicans I know have become Independents since O'Palin entered the political arena.
ReplyDeleteVirginia Voter-My feeling is that he was held back from speaking truthfully about her after the election and now, maybe, those who held him back are now urging him to speak out.
ReplyDeleteI think they finally realized McPalin is a back-stabbing b*tch!
McCain should have stopped the Palin insanity long ago but he won't and can't because it's an admission of error on his part. Personally, I think McCain is as slimy as Sarah.
ReplyDeleteSteve Schmidt has said most of this stuff before. I've searched the Internet for the article where I read it months ago. Long before her book came out. So far, can't find it. Anyone else remember? Back then, McCain immediately came out and said how talented, etc., she was. His staff shut up.
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled to see it come up again. Morning Joe mentioned the 60 Minutes appearance, acted like it was all new info. We all know what Schmidt is saying is true. I'm hoping he'll say a lot more but wonder why now? Is McCain unleashing his campaign staff because of the sharpie/sunvisor event? Or is this the beginning of the end for Her Majesty? IMO, Repubs are getting tired of her and are going to get ready for the elections.
"You can lead a horse to culture.."
ReplyDeleteI think that Dorothy Parker's version of that old saying is even more appropriate: being challenged to come up with 'horticulture' in a sentence she came up with "You can lead a horticulture but you can't make her think" (You may have to say it aloud to get the full impact).
Looking forward to Meghan MCain's book, not that I will read it but I bet no matter what she says about Miss O'silla, they will react badly.
ReplyDeletewe all have Mcain to thank/blame for all this. if he had not approached her to begin with, i would still not have a clue as to who she is. as it stands tho, it has been an eye opener to see how gullible some people can be to buy into her crap, scary too!
ReplyDeletebut at the same time, entertaining.
bill in belize
Virginia Voter, that is the BEST moniker I've seen yet:
ReplyDeleteO'Sarah Bin Lyin
priceless...
Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteA thought occurred to me.
Is Mr. Schmidt is going to work for Mitt Romney is some capacity? The timing just makes me wonder about this. Don't let Romney's "Aw shucks" demeanor fool you - he's as mean and nasty as Palin is, and he's been playing this game a lot longer.
Current polling has him in the front way ahead of his opposition and I think he'd like to keep it that way. JMHO
I has a tongue teaser years ago about someone's name. When I stopped to think about it was connected to something from my past that was snarky and kind of dirty speak. I always had big time trouble getting he name out with a smirk.
ReplyDeleteSo what could be thing of from her past the is O'bidinsky or whatever. Hey you guys in AK, cough up.
Anon @ 10:13:
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for ALL of them to re-invent history. Remember what Goebbels said in the 1930s: "When you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth". That is EXACTLY what they are trying to do right now. Repeat it often enough on their Faux Noise station, and MILLIONS of little sheeple will repeat it dutifully.
Sharon in Florida@11:09, yes. So far there are references to this being the situation, and mostly before the book came out. Schmidt also made a timely comment when it did come out (I would too, if someone had said lies about me).
ReplyDeleteAs for timing, 60 Minutes segments do take some time to research and film. This may have gotten underway shortly after the book came out, which would be mid-November, so I don't really know how VisorGate could realistically have played into it, but it is an interesting thought.
I'm far more intrigued by the idea that some Repubs are getting annoyed at her sticking her nose into things when she is not a sitting elected official nor does she appear to be running for any office anytime soon. Therefore, she may be, as others have suggested, syphoning off Republican money into her PAC that would otherwise have gone to a viable candidate's kitty, and I can see how that would be upsetting. It'd cheese me off.
They want a part of her popularity, but they know better than to just act as if every point she makes on Facebook is their exact policy position. Talk about political suicide if you did. So, we can't love her or we'll never get elected, but we get lambasted if we disagree with her and get called 'haters' and "RINOs", and we want to ignore her, but we get chastised if we don't recognize that she was Gov., that she did write what was a best-selling book, etc. Sarah Palin, a lose-lose scenario.
So, yea, I can totally see Steve Schmidt coming out and talking. I would. I would have a very, very, very hard time NOT talking if someone wrote lies about me in a best-selling book that was being sold as a work of non-fiction.
Tempest in a teapot
ReplyDeleteThis story will last about as long as your naked attempt to slime Bristol over her LLC
Schmidt has always been a slimewad long before Sarah came along. Your kind of guy
What's the deal with Ricky Hollywood? He hasn't been seen muttering and stuttering on TV for a month.
If you don't update soon folks will begin to think Bristol shoved a sock in the little guy's mouth.
Thank you Jesus....for shining the light ever-so-brightly on the dark fallacies of sista sayrah.
ReplyDeleteI'll be there armed with popcorn! The tip of the iceberg looks like it's beginning to come into view in the MSM. How will the crew of the S.S.* Palin spin this one? Can't wait...
ReplyDelete*Sinking Ship
Just on the news.....GOP insiders say by 62% that Mitt Romney will be the nominee in 2012. $carah O'Paylin is tied in 5th place. Nuff said.
ReplyDeleteAS with the person from Mexico - living in the UK, the new front in dominion-ism, can you load the 60 minutes program on your blog. Would like to have ammunition against the creeping creationism promoted by the evangelicals here. Unfortunately, "christian" schools have been traditionally linked with good morality, and so not well investigated for their "bad" theology by parents. Thank you Tony Blair, another hypocrite christian for promoting them.
ReplyDeleteThe Pregnancy Pact @9:06 - Great post.
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of fact, there are so many great posts here, thanks! So, Schmidt mentions Todd's association with the AIP. I wonder if 60 Minutes will mention that video McPalin did for the AIP 2008 convention? Or, if 60 Minutes will use that photo of McPalin reviewing John Birch Society stuff while sitting at her desk in front of that name plate that says city council? Hope so!
Great post, Gryphen! Thanks!
backlash. that's what I'm waiting for. Troopergate being brought to the fore again is gonna sting!!
ReplyDelete(This is Susie, but I can't seem to post comments through my Google Account)
ReplyDeleteWow! I am glad to see Steve Schmidt spilling the beans on Palin. I just hope that there are still some Republicans out there who don't exclusivly watch only "Faux News" who will actually tune in to CBS and watch this episode of 60 Minutes. They need to have their eyes opened so they can stop listening to her on Facebook and Twitter and NOT vote for her if she runs for a national office in the future.
"This story will last about as long as your naked attempt to slime Bristol over her LLC"
ReplyDeletewell you obviously missed the point about the llc - it's really a tool for sarah the grifter. what is with you people and your inability to comprehend things?
Anon 11:46, I've been thinking all along that Mitt Romney will be the one to take down Ole'Sara Bin Lyin' (I love VV for that). He'll have to, because she's too foolhardy to give in to the "talking to" he gave Jane Swift, the only other poorly-prepared pregnant sitting Governor in US history. Mitt scared former Acting Governor Swift out of running for the Republican nom for MA gov so that he could run.
ReplyDeleteBTW, for other MA residents: Tim Cahill's running mate is a former McCain state chair. Tim just lost my vote on that one, if he picked someone who so adamantly supported the fool McCain.
By pledging to partake in the National Tea Party Convention over CPAC, she will milk this platform to define and lead a third political party while building her momentum for future campaigning purposes.
ReplyDeletestory on Olbermann tonight--it's getting tons of play.
ReplyDeleteUh-oh..
ReplyDeleteAh...! When the trolls come abitchin' you can be sure you are on to somethin' :) And mr. Troll, Brilstol's LLC is all over EVERYWHERE FYI, even baby Eddie mentioned it...So there...Fool!
ReplyDeleteO'Sarah bin lyin' lol,lol I will be there watching...I'm sure lyin griffter is REALLY pissed at Steve, she can out in a seductive towel one night to greet him & another guy...and this is the treatment she gets????
lol!
The bar was set so low for the grifter loser, everyone was amazed she even showed up!
I hope Steve opens up and all the rest to, as someone else commented that is got to cheese them off she is griftin' $ that could be in RNC coffers and she doesn't give to anyone, except Gramps, and Liza M. when they are about the snark on her, lol.
Get the popcorn!!!!
Schmidt, Mccain, and every other lowdown dirty devil who unleashed Palin on the American public ought to be arrested.
ReplyDeleteO/T..
Desperate for re-election, old(and I mean old)John Mccain is back to his dirty tricks. His current campaign ads are PATHETIC..
Wonder if he would welcome a Palin endorsement? hehehehe!!!
I got my tivo set, popcorn ready, and adult beverages in the fridge. Thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteOh sh*tttt!!
ReplyDeleteIt's on and poppin' NOW!
Granny done stepped on the WRONG toes! Done f*cked with the WRONG ones!
Grandmaw, WELCOME TO THE BIG LEAGUES!
All of this O'whatever stuff. Palin was not calling Biden "O'Biden". She was calling him Obiden. She had been calling out Obama (see the connection?) for weeks at rallies. Her brain is so weak that the similarity in names/syllables was too much. So, Obama became Obiden.
ReplyDeleteIn Falin's delusional mind, she would have made a better President than Obama, Mccain, Clinton, and "O'Biden" all rolled up in one.
ReplyDeleteSomebody's trying to stop $arah's hustle.
ReplyDeleteVirginia Voter: You gave the best laugh of the day: O'Sarah Bin Lyin.
ReplyDeleteShe is our own domestic terrorist-scaring the good American people with her whack job comments such as death panels.
I agree, Sarah was told one time too many that she was hired as the untouchable (lipstick wearin', Oz-land high heeled, jacked-up skirt Rebiblican female) attack dog to nip at Obama's ankles during the campaign so they could try to bring him down to her level of inexperience (intellect) and lack of readiness to be Prez (VP).
Her egomanic personality had her blending her two opponents' names and jeez-she has problems already with ethnic types...African-American, Irish names, Hawaiians, ya know-the questionable/wanna be Americans who she always avoided. She easily grasped the JOE-the- Plumber moniker. 'New-clear', unclear, never let this woman near the nuclear briefcase. And she is the one with the tongue twisting reasons for choosing her kids' names!
From a double Mayflower ancestry non-teabag tote-in' Alaskan.
Steve won't take down Sarah to her proper level because of how it reflects on former boss McCain. It is a chummy political club we have down in DC and power centers. Notice how the lurkers have picked up on saying Trigg is a 'Political Football' in the custody battle since they see how we have long discussed how TRIG has been used as a Political (fame and fortune fly paper) Prop by Grifter Palin family.
OK. While lots of people are praising Schmidt for coming out on 60 Minutes with all this, don't forget that Republican "strategists" are some of the slimiest people on the planet. Karl Rove, anyone? Can anyone detect his fine hand in all this? His wife left him and he has no one to torment right now, and Schmidt is a protege of his.
ReplyDeleteNow, having said that, no one can truly feel sorry for $carah, seeing that she's being exposed everyday for a situation of her own making--she has tried to nail herself to her madeup cross so many times before when exposed for being a liar, cheat and all around grifter.
Let's face it: The Republicans can't face the music, or the kinds of people Palin is stirring up, and retain any kind of credibility. They are suffering from lack of interest by the public, esp the segment Palin attracts, real moderates, those gone independent, etc. Republicans are desperate enough to try drumming up support for a recycled guy who wears "magic underwear."
With about 18% of the public supporting the establishment Repub party, they might as well start taking out the garbage and they know this.
I think Palin knows her 15 minutes rae about up, the bucks are starting to become a slow trickle, some major shit about to hit the fan, and she has to protect her assets some way--BSMP, LLC anyone? When will the Palin compound cease to be one of her assets? The few millions she is making won't last her very long is she doesn't hide them, because no one in that household, including the parents, actually work and the infamy Palin has heaped on her own family won't help them whatsoever.
What happened to Investigative Journalism?
ReplyDeleteCase in Point –
Why did John McCain really suspend his presidential campaign? Well the answers are in the 60 minutes interview with Steve Schmidt!
What are the “real” reasons for him declaring that the presidential debates should be suspended? The answers are in the 60 Minutes interview with Steve Schmidt!
Why has the McCain camp been in denial about their choice of SP for VP? Again, the answers are in the 60 Minutes interview with Steve Schmidt!
Is there a story within a story from the 60 Minutes interview with Steve Schmidt? Yes, and someone should be preparing it right now to show how the American public got hook winked during the presidential campaign.
Investigative Journalism requires putting facts together and asking the tough questions to get to the TRUTH! Who is willing to do that kind of work today?
Our democracy will suffer if the American people don’t demand that the free press protect the “TRUTH” by asking the touch questions that we cannot ask.
What is interesting is not just what Schmidt is saying- but that he's saying it at all. The Repug code of conduct would normally not want to see one of their hand-picked candidates maligned so publicly so you can be very sure that Schmidt has permission to take down the Quitter Queen.
ReplyDeleteThe Repug establishment don't want to get their hands dirty or piss off the lunatic fringe by taking down Caribou Barbie themselves, so they're happy to let Schmidt do it and he knows that speaking out won't jeopardize his future with Repug candidates and campaigns. The Repug hierarchy will not give $arah any future nominations and they know that the teabaggers splitting off will destroy the whole party so they will take her down to make sure that does not happen.
It's very funny to see the Palinistas claim that smears against $arah the Quitter are coming from the Obama administration- if anything they would LOVE to take on such a joke of a candidate. Nope, the true sabotage is going to happen from the right, and I bet that Mitt, Mike, Tim and Bobby are all pulling for Gryphen and Co to do the work for them and destroy Caribou Barbie so that she'll just be a footnote and a few punchlines when the real campaigns begin.
Now this is fun:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.politicususa.com/en/node/7423
There is - over at Bree's Blog, an anonymous poster who appears to have gone to school with SP. Her post is very revealing and in fact, she says Sarah was known as MissWasyphillis. It's great - head over and have a good giggle.'
What the AquaticUrineSwimmers fail to see is that the GOP is bringing her down. Schmidt may be a Rove flunky, but experienced campaign managers are in high demand - and in all honesty it is doubtful if any of the small group would touch her in a future campaign.
In many ways, that is an underlying story. It isn't just Schmidt - he is speaking for the GOP. They will not support her future candidacy and the GOP campaign managers will not work for her.
This is Karma. This is beautiful.
